Same, I have only started watching him again after a long break since he started doing hbrawl content. I have zero interest in standard and he doesn't really do limited.
When you got the caravan at 51:15, to combo properly instead of playing it directly you can activate mutavault first, sacrifice it and search for dark ritual. You play ritual, then caravan, add mana with caravan, end up with 2 black 3 green. Search for squirrels (spend 1 black 1 green) and win the game.
Or do the Caravan stuff like he did but go for Henge instead of squirrels, play it and qq (7mana). Now Animate Mutavault, go for Engine and with the last mana start the party with Veil
I prefer to just play Old Stickfingers as a straightforward "reanimate big creatures turn after turn until I win" deck. After watching this, that is still the case - I am definitely not prepared to think that hard about combo turns every game haha
Was waiting for this video ever since watching the tournament Will definitly pay more respect to old stickfinger from now on. The deck reminds me of the razacats combo that you can do in EDH
Second to last game, if you get coalition relic instead of verdant command, you can then get 6 mana, activate mutavault sac and get command, and then combo off (getting henge, engine, cast veil to untap)

I wouldn't mind trying historic brawl but I only started playing at Kaldheim so I'm missing too many of the rare and mythic staples from the older sets
There are lots of uncommon and common replacements if you don't mind playing a bit behind. The mana will be the only noticeable issue, so try some mono/dual color decks first.
@@8mask That's what makes it great for longtime players-youve probably opened at least one of each rare and mythic just from packs bought with cold and random cards from the daily wins over the years. For a new(ish) player that's still a dozen or two rarest and mythical cleaning out a whole season of playing for one deck.
Love the fact you have recognition to other mtga UA-camrs. Also, it's totally fine messing up with a new deck. Hell I do it all the time with some of your decks I've made. All a learning process
I have a super cool deck idea that I think you might really like. Its an alternative to the lantern control modern deck. It’s Go Shintai of Lost Wisdom commander (the blue one where you mill equal to the number of shrines you own, but it’s the only shrine you use, so it always mills 1 card). Then you play mishras bauble as a target for Mycosynth Gardens, which can turn into an extra bauble that you then use each turn to look at your opponents deck. If they’re about to draw a good card, you mill it with your shrine. Then, since the gardens goes to your graveyard, you use crucible of the worlds to keep playing it every turn. Then you fill your deck with counter spells, bounces, and other control cards as well as a bunch of cards that tutor artifacts and spheres. I would love to see what you do with the deck.

The turn st minute 55 you could have directly searched for henge You had 3 greeb mana Use 2 for henge, tap for 6 Use 1 to power up the land, sac to search for paradox Use 5 to cast paradox You have 1 green still Cast veil of summer I had to think about this for 10 mind so dw, the deck is hard
Fun deck. I am not totally familiar with the most recent banned list. Is LED legal? Looks like a great card for that deck. I also tried to replace the Nyxbloom/Henge/Engine part and came up with two ideas: Eternal witness/Phyrexian Altar/Tendrils (or Chatterstorm). Witness/Feign and Altar do loop and you get unlimited life loss/damage or Squirrels/Mana and Tutors (as long as you have life). Another option for me seems to replace Nyxbloom with Symbiotic Wurm. That‘s up to 8 tutors (as long as you have the life). Could that work?
Without Nyxbloom you won't have enough mana to accelerate the combo out of 1 or 2 mana. Additionally, you need an early source of lifegain because otherwise you would not be able to win vs aggro decks in general.

As I understand it, in the line with 1 black mana up, you do not get to lifegain (Henge) until you already tutored six times, so I think the lifegain from the Henge is not vital in that case. I get that you need the mana for Caravan/Harrow/Diregraf/Engine (pretty cool chain by the way) or Verdant Command/Engine. But with Eternal Witness/Phyrexian Altar you just need three Mana for the Altar to get the loop going. So you only tutor for Dark Ritual/Altar and you are set, because you already have the other two pieces (Witness and Feign).
@@grimmonolith I dont see a particular line wich would allows you to win without any mana (or 1 additional mana) and no other creatures after casting Feign Death on Young Necromancer the first time.
@@mathematiger1286 Yes, for 0 or 1 available mana, the Mox Amber / Nyxbloom is probably the only way to get it off the ground the same turn. But for 2 available mana the alternative works. The upside is that you need fewer cards (and no Paradox Engine) to kill, therefore the life total is not under that much pressure. But i admit the Mox/Nyxbloom/Caravan/Harrow/Diregraf/Henge/Engine line does not only work with no additional mana available - it is also a real work of art.
I always forget that Old Stickfingers only mills the revealed creatures and not all of the revealed cards like Hermit Druid, so I spent a minute or two losing my mind over the first cast when it looked like he just ripped all three creatures off the top in a row without any other reveals

@@hellproof2379 okay? You might want to reread my comment. You were reading into it more than is there. Cgb has consistently complained about timeouts being used because he thinks the route ends before it actually does. I think the route might also disappear if you f6.
They do indeed make the combo a bit quicker. I had those cards in earlier versions. However, they are terrible outside the combo and not required to win. So i cut them since any interaction is usually better to safe you from loosing instead if making the combo a bit "better". Bala Ged Recovery sort of serves as a backup plan. Bisides that there is just the good old Razaketh beat down while controlling the bord with free searches.
Resovoir doesn't add mana and once you get your wincon it really does not matter in what way you win so you might aswell play the slightly more flexible card.
That time out BS is a problem that needs to be fixed. It's an issue everyone is talking about and stupid that it hasn't been fixed. I might even stop playing until it is patched. It's stupid you need to backout to reset the timer.
I see paradox engine, I turn the video off. Even though Golgari is my jam, I absolutely hate that card and it's the main reason I don't watch the HB content.
You maybe didn't realize, but Paradox Engine is not a essential card to the deck. You can easily built a differnet version wich wins for example with Aeterflux Reservoir, Tendrils of Agony or multiple drain effects. It just happens that Engine is the easiest to execute and a little bit more consistent in worst case scenarios.

To the people who complain about paradox engine: this isn’t casual, it isn’t jank, it is competitive historic brawl. He has played decks without engine when engine is wrong for the deck, but in the same way that in standard any midrange deck with red will play fable, any deck that can combo with engine should play engine. If you don’t like engine i get it, but if you don’t like CGB playing engine while it is legal to do so you really just don’t like competitive historic brawl.
I totally get that, and it is probably right to ban it, i’m sure aetherflux or something else rises to take the spot of the thing everyone hates but engine is pretty absurd. I’m just tired of seeing people comment giving CGB flak for doing exactly what he is setting out to do, make the most competitive version of the deck.

It's tough at first but eventually you'll get there. A lot of the cards are staples that go in a lot of different decks.
Best part about HB is you really only have to craft 1 copy of everything
There is standard brawl as well and you can really explore the space and use historic brawl as a guide.

I feel like a faster version (timewise) of this combo can be done by grabbing the Exquisite Blood+Sanguine Bond combo
You would need a lot more mana in that case, which would delay the Combo too many turns.

LED is not on Arena, not sure about some of the other cards you mentioned

There is a different version without paradox engine which uses Su-Chi Cave Guard instead of Nyxbloom and Reservoir instead of Paradox Engine

It's banned in commander for a reason and I've never heard that community call for ot to be brought back. Why keep it in Brawl?
