2 strokes are all I ride anymore. I used to be a 4 stroke diehard but the fun factor ease of repairs and overall badass appeal won me over. Now let's get the big 4 to make them again..
man i wish they'd at least have a seperate class for 250 2-t's if they just stop making them thats a kick in the gut because they're a class all their own
So true man..i learned how to repair my 2stroke (full engine rebuild) just by reading the manual...i ve done it so many times since the first time...the simplicity of those machines is just amazing
Riding a two stroke at the top of the league is an art of its own and there are not many who master it. Just to see someone win a competition on a two stroke makes your eyes to produce tears. They have had to work harder in every element to earn the victory.
man I love the two strokes, its realy awesome, had done some rally's on twostroke bikes, not much compared to the 250's and bigger ones. Here in India we dont have the rm,cr,kx,yz,etc. What we have are lil two strokes with 100-125-135 cc motors,we modify them with custom builds and they are very fast comparing the size, It can do 140kmph. The fun fact is the motors max at 14bhp in stock and once we get it blown, its like 26-28bhp.Really miss em now cause its long gone from the factories now.
2 stroke Eargasm!! I have a 125 2stroke for the road with a racing system..... brings a smile to my face everytime I wind it open!! and not to mention the smell..... :O LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
THATS MX AT ITS BEST. Miss the old 2 stroke sound every race and training day. also the style of riding the 2 stroke is more aggresive than 4 stroke!!! Looks much better. love it!!! BACK TO 2-STROKE!!!
I was really stoked to race two strokes and had to learn keep it pinned throttle technique,ok I got it,because I started on a four stroke in 1978 or so race all my friends on their two stroke motocrossers,I did good because I rode 40 hours a week more than they did at that time their was 4 four stroke ride around the globe, don't laugh their was,and now we come back to four stroke ok ok.what ever, they are pretty darn awsum,I was just hoping they were more maintenance free you know longer times between rebuilds but they aren't,but the cost is ridiculous,it good to here Mac and see RC still enjoy, two strokes...I was kinda going thru withdrawal from racing...and was starting to wonder what the new four strokes were like,I finally got a chance to...2007 CRF450R,wow I was really blown away by the whole complete bike, take it right to a national it was badass...I was twisting the grip off of it and the front end would not stay on ground traction was amazing too, well I can't see a change, suspension three wow, coming any time soon but it's cool two strokes are still getting some love, piece out...Yeah RC looks good on anything the kid's got skills and unequalled drive he ain't afraid to race or be intimidated by no one...that's not an easy thing to acquire when u go to the nationals and look down the start line and its nothing but champions and champion up and comers...piece out...roost on.
2 stroke 4 stroke what does it matter fellas. we all know its the venture you take on your steel horse. the bond to your machine. thas all that really matters. and if your fast, your fast on any bike! thats just talent baby!
Lovin the respect for the guy working. Leaving the track to go around him is CLASS. As far as comparing 125 to 250s and 250s to 450s that was just to get you to buy 4 stroke bikes. On road or off 4Ts need double the displacement to compete. Anywhere else that would be cheating.
I remember when the FIM made TC announce that he was switching to a 4-stroke at a SX race. Ricky is a guy who thinks objectively and means what he says, (a sign of a honest man). So when they made him say "4-strokes are the future" he really did not like being used by the establishment in that way, and he "choked" it out. I could just hear it in his voice, he did not like saying it, and he stuck with the two stroke for several championships over the 4-stroke, as long as he could. I bet if he trained for a year, he would beat the 4-strokes today on his old Honda.
i was off motocross bikes for 6 years and just got a new kx250f a few months ago. as far as riding it i think it's just as much fun and i feel just as fast on the four stroke as i was on my 92 rm 125...other than the fact that i'm way out of shape. but anyway you're right. i will never like the way my 250f sounds as much as my old 125. and maybe it's just me but it seems like they made the new 4 strokes feel alot more like 2 strokes than they did when they first came out in the early 2000s.
I'm not an expert rider of motocross bikes, but I do have one. I will say this: While riding with a friend , myself on a YZ125cc 2 stroke, and him on his YZ250F 4 stroke, If I had traction control, I could hang right with him. If I was not controlling the power and just hitting the throttle hard and not smooth, then I am slipping all over with that back tire, and he's gone. It's all about experience, and knowing HOW to stay on the power. The fact is, horsepower is the same on RM250 as RM450F.
@theninja001 hahahah good choice i love the 2 strokes too lol if u had a 250f what would you say is faster the 250sx or the 250f (or whatever bike u had) lol i got a 01 cr 125 so fun to ride its great
Wow seeing that tractor out there scares the shit outta me. I came around a blind corner on my cr 250 hit the front of the tractor and left a 12 inch gash that was four inches wide from my knee to my ankle and I dislocated my knee and my shin bone just about was sticking outta the back of my calf
Really any of the big 4 will do you well. I had a YZ loved it. Now i'm on an RM, love it even more! The YZ's have the smoothest pulling engines I know that, but honestly any race machine rips haha. Start on a 125 and move to a 250 and you'll fall in love
Amazing to think this was not only a RETIRED RC but a Suzuki mounted RC! Crazy... just as fast as ever. Ricky was the only rider of the modern era to dominate on a Zook. Those things suck and they always have but Ricky could ride anything fast!
yes I agree ppl just need to learn how to ride instead of just talking about which one is better. Its about riding and not about talking about who has the better machine.
yea well youre so happy tell it to your face because we all know and you know you retired way too early.youd much rather the preasure and the fight.youre a racer and no one could take that away from you. its in your blood.you really are the greatest of all time ricky boy and ive enjoyed your battles and victory.long livethe king
@AmbitionzzHD why would he say that? 250f is actually a little more powerful than a 125 2 stroke. but also heavier. 2 strokes are just as fun if not more if you know how to handle one. You really need to clutch a lot more and shift more than on a 4 stroke but its amazing once you're used to it.
I've had both. 4 stroke is nice to ride and all. But not nice to maintain, rebuild, repair. Very costly when things break on them. UGH I'll stick with my YZ250.
To understand the mechanical differences between a two stroke and four stroke engine, lets first consider how the four stroke engine works. The four strokes are: Intake: The piston travels down the cylinder while the intake valve is opened to allow a mixture of fuel and air to enter the combustion chamber. Compression: The intake valve is closed and the piston travels back up the cylinder thereby compressing the gasses.
@felix0088 Yes he does buts its a fiber carbon pro circuit specially made for hes bike back in 2005. Wich are not for sale to the public, but yeah you can buy a silencer from pc wich would help the bike for sure and sound sweet to.
i just realized that when i have kids there is gonna be a time where i say to them "back in my day all motocross bikes were 2 stroke. we had to mix our oil in with our gas. those were the good old days". and they'll say "wouldn't that oil clog up your fuel injectors, dad?" and i'll say "fuel injectors? we had carburetors. we had to turn on the fuel petcock and pull the choke lever to start our bikes." and my kids are going to say "dad, you're really old."
@elijah chalfant it depends what you want to ride, trails, track, but for first bike 2 stroke problem get 250 4 stroke maybe 250 too, like I said depends what you want to ride, 230 is a good trail bike
It's 2021 and I'm still watching this over and over again 😁
2022 and still watching..2strokes will never die because of this video...that deep 2stroke sound is mesmerising
August 2024 and still sounds just as crispy as day 1..
look how fast he gets around the track!!! 2 stroke for life!!!
TrollMaster300 imagine if he was actually trying

Who still comes back to this video to watch Ricky rip that 250 in 2022??
I remember watching this as a kid and sane I really want to 125 and now I’m watching it and I have one
watching him ride makes me want to sell my bike and pursue knitting as my new hobby
Makes me want to buy a bike!
Dude his bike sounds sooo good goin thru those whoops ugh goosebumps anyone lol
Man i love the 2 strokes,!!!! sounds so beautiful!!! especially the factory 125's and 250 2 strokes, they sound freakin crazy!!! I love it!
Man that bike sounds so crisp and snappy
Ricky is great, just love watching him fly by everyone on the track ❤
Still watching 2023
No matter who you are. You will always have a huge smile on your face Riding a 2stroke
Gotta come back to this every once in a while. Easily the crispiest 2 stroke I’ve heard.
that's almost as fast as my 04' yawasaki 48293cc 8 1/2 stroke. I run jet fuel in mine, it really rips.
Thomas Curlin sounds pretty slow to me, bet a pw50 can beat that
I gotta home made huffy with a stihl weed eater that will smoke all of you
i love the sound of a 2 stroke in the whoops

music to my ears!! 2 stroke sound for life!!! That track is sick!
This is def. one of the best videos to just see and hear a 2 stroke. None of that editing crap or annoying music.
It's so awesome how Ricky can just enjoy riding like this and make it almost a relaxation type of thing and still hall ass lol.
THATS MX AT ITS BEST. Miss the old 2 stroke sound every race and training day. also the style of riding the 2 stroke is more aggresive than 4 stroke!!! Looks much better. love it!!! BACK TO 2-STROKE!!!
I could watch this all day.
This is art as it happens. To be a top notch MX rider is to be.... an artist.
Also Trials riders kick ass. In some ways more so.
The Best 250 Two-Stroke Sound On UA-cam.... Thanks For The Upload... "2-Stroke Forever"!!!!!

The "blip blip" in the air and the 2 stroke through the whoops are music to my ears.
Damn, no one can make a two stroke sing like Ricky!!
The way he rides around the birm so smooth loose and fast it looks like he’s on a waverunner
WTF men, this bike works so well!!! 2 stroke FOREVER !
This guy could kill most everyone even if he was on an RM 85. He was born to race bikes.
Nothing like the sound and power of an 2-stroke
Is it wrong ive watched this 400 times
1:31....that rev is music to my ears. Long live 2T!!
i love it when he blips the throttle in the air, sounds sooo sick, cant wait to be riding my ktm 250, moving up from a kx 125

I love the sound when he goes over the whoops..
the sound of a 2 stroke through a whoop section is the sound of freedom!
sounds awesome over the whoops! I wish they still raced 2 strokes
I dunno what they do to those RM motors, but they have some serious bark to them lol
I just love The power delivery of a 2 stroke!

Although im not a big fan of 4 strokes, i'll admit I rode a ktm 350 four thumper awhile back..what a beast it was lots of power....
yes I agree ppl just need to learn how to ride instead of just talking about which one is better. Its about riding and not about talking about who has the better machine.
This is so fucking awesome. Factory RM 250. Fuck yeah.
the last shot riding was great, nailing the throttle way before landing driving the wheel into the ground.
BRAAAAAAAP!!! i love that sound!! i also love ricky carmichael and he is my idol!!!
@SEA4MARKSMAN01 i ride a 4stroke and this video makes me wanna go back down to 2. He is an artist and that bike is his brush.

best sounding 2 stroke
i never was a big fan of ricky but theres not doubt he was one of the best rider in history
The sound is just soo amazing if you do not like the sound of that you got to get checked
Gotta give some credit for those guys, who keeps those tracks on good shape.
#199 TP still rippin rm 250.. and rm125 for smaller stunts
that sounds like a very happy 2 stroke :)
if i watch any AMA or FIM national today, i listen to music, 10 years ago i would turn up the volume.
I've got an autograph of RC, it's pretty cool
@crimson22s the 250f four stroke is basically a 125 two if your comparing the 250 two stroke it would be against the 450 four stroke
I wish I have a private cross track like that.....it seems a fun garden....for grown children....
:-)))))
