Julie, I don't know how you manage to create such wonderful videos: you choose music that mirrors exactly the rhythm and choreography of each dance Gabriella and Guillaume are doing; the editing is seamless; the words of this Ed Sheeran song matches exactly what's going on in the choreography. Absolutely stunning, creative, and inspired!!
Julie Wie, I'm a long-time musician (play all flutes and my teacher encouraged me, as did one of my best music directors, to make sure that "phrases go somewhere; repeated notes are not just 'bouncing balls'; my flute teacher used to put forward-moving arrows in my music to remind me to 'shape a phrase', and as a piccolo specialist, I've always been attuned to being absolutely in tune -- whether it's in a 70-piece orchestra or concert band -- and when I play solo c-flute or alto flute -- at a church service, in a concert, etc. -- I try my hardest to make the music 'speak', create emotion in the listener, play "musically"; the latter touches an audience even more than straight technical skill.....people have come up to me with tears, saying things like, "your playing moved me/touched my heart so much!" and that's what I want to feel when I watch contemporary dancers or hear diverse genres of music: passion and soul); and that's why I love Gabriella and Guillaume so much (the passion/soul/emotion/connection comes even through my computer screen and I find myself often in tears -- because of the way they connect with their music and with each other, and how it connects to their audience). I also worked in radio & tv for 15 years, directed live performances, etc., and know how important seamless editing (of music, of video, of tape -- in my day) was and still is -- I can hear (with a "jerk" of my nerves) when music is poorly edited, when the music and/or words have nothing to do with the dancing or skating. I'm also a long-time proofreader/editor, so, even though I don't go looking for errors, my nerves do the same "twitch" when I see incorrect grammar, poorly written text, etc. I guess, bottom line, all these things are just innately parts of my personality; I had them at an early age, and just made sure I made all of them better as I grew older. Thus, I do realize how much work you put into your videos, and why I appreciate the finished products so much. Many thanks for the joy you bring to me (and so many other people)!
