I feel so much for the Red Rose's. They did such an amazing work to try and get on top. However the Silver Fern fought their hearts out. Literally in tears awesome game😍🙂 Ekanasio you did what your team needed you to do and that was to shoot. I've always been a HUGE fan of Maria Tutaia as a GA or GS. It is about time Maria Tutaia got a partner that is able to share the work load. Casey Kopua definitely going to miss you, you have brought such an epic defense line in the Silver Fern team. I've always admired your work since you came out in 2006 for the FERNS. Just know that you are a legend, you wore the black dress and took pride in it for that I will always remember you. Laura Langman, the best midcourt player I've ever seen in the Ferns, since Seymour and Temepara George. You definitely took after those who have played for our SILVER FERN Team. So proud of our SILVER FERN TEAM.
Laura Langman probably the Silver Fern's best centre since the great Sandra Edge (nee Mallet) who was part of the world cup-winning team of 1987. Sandra Edge is arguably NZ's greatest centre.
This is the best Fern ever.. Langman is incredibly the best centre in the world, Folau undoubtedly one of the best shooter in the world, Kopua is the best defender of all time, even not in her best form after retiring. Ekenasio the best GA in this entire edition, so calm n on fire. Watson, what a performance, so great in intercepting balls. Rore, great switch to WD, shut the opponent down so well. Crampton n Saunders both are unstoppable attackers with great defensive skill. Last but not least, Taurua, the best Fern coach ever, i really love her great touch of coaching, changed the style of play , so motivative, well arranged and very inspiring… but so sad, we cant see this great team anymore as the three fossils are retired.
As a kiwi, this game was way more satisfying than the final. Seeing our girls beat the Roses who thought they were gonna cruise into the final!! England win one major title then think they are unbeatable, haha.
Watching the fossils again tonight after 4yrs in this semi still gives me joy. And playing against some of the fossils in their early days back in 2006-12 before I moved to Melbourne makes me proud and honoured to have been given the opportunity, and look at them in their final world cup ❤️🥺🥰
When Roses led by 3 at the end of 1st half.. i thought Ferns will lose the game in 2nd half.. but u see, how calm they were throughout 2nd half.. i can see their patience, enthusiasm, artistic and self determination, and all those values were well coorporated by their coach.. amazing
How is 26:38 is a short pass and 26:56 is not? Tutaia let the ball bounce and roll first when Haythornthwaite pass straight to Harten hand with no room for a defender? Michelle Phippard should not be umpiring at this level.
Unfortunately for England, Beckford-Chambers didn't have the fitness to keep up with Ekenasio, which allowed Ekenasio to get better as the game went on. Guthrie also looked too nervous during the game, while Folau kept Mentor very quiet. I don't think Mentor is quite as effective against a moving circle (which is funny considering she trains against Harten and Housby). Haythornthwaite was definitely a good super-sub, but wasn't put on early enough.
Close game. Love all these players. Both teams made some huge mistakes. But both teams made some huge plays, like when Saunders got that deflection, kept it in with Folau letting it bounce closer to the goal to nail it and Hartens deceptive bullet passes straight past Kopua and Watson to Housby right under the goal to score. It could've gone either way. Amazing game.

Since I have last watch a netball game, I have seen a clear improvement of England tbh...once upon a time they werent able to compete vs NZ, it was both NZ and AUS as the untouchables

I recall checking the stats after the game and it was something like zero intercepts, zero deflections and one rebound... Maria took her out of the game completely and opened up the circle for Ameliaranne. England needed to change the lineup to make Maria do something different.
My 2 least favourite players were Englands WD and C. The WD was very negative and kept throwing herself in front of people and just trying to get barging calls (like some fraudulent insurance claim pedestrian) but she almost always was moving, but like basketball, to get a call you need to plant both feet. The Centre seemed to make some deliberate fouls (clearly wrenching balls from players and silly obstructions) then when penalised acting like she was robbed by the umpire.
That is Clarke's style of play. She tries to get the opposing team to contact thus giving her team a penalty. Lucky the umpires now call that type of play up.

IMO when I have heard Aussie commentators such as Liz Ellis and Sharni Layton commentate international games they have always sounded very impartial and fair, even when I have tried to fault them. I have felt that the bias has been a common issue in other games with these commentators in particular.
