TM Krishna with Vikku Vinayakram: Maithreem Bhajata

TM Krishna concluded the concert with "Maithreem Bhajata", a Sanskrit composition by Chandrasekharendra Saraswati also known as the Sage of Kanchi.
This song first got worldwide recognition when performed by the great MS Subbulakshmi at the United Nations on their UN Day way back in 1966.
Krishna's co-musicians here are Vikku Vinayakram on ghatam, HK Venkataram on violin, K Arunprakash on mridangam and N Ramakrishnan on konnakol and mridangam. Tambura support was provided by Jayant Naidu and Krishna's student Bhargavi Venkatram.

The tuning for this composition was done by Vasant Desai, the renowned Hindi film music director. There are photographs of the sitting where she rehearsed the song with him.
