It was good. I started it with a buddy and unfortunately I ended up leaving the company back in January. But he is still running just fine as far as I’m aware. I’m actually in the process of getting my authority by myself right now. I just took off a few months to go build ice roads in Alaska and clear my head. But I’m ready to get back after it now.
People don’t understand but even if you make the same amount as me while you work for a company and I have my authority I still win because IM IN CONTROL OF MY LIFE💪🏿💪🏿an that my friend is PRICELESS.Im GOING home VS CAN I go home 😂
Benjamin Weeks if you have your own truck and u lease on to a company you still choose when u go home they don’t own you most people lease on to companies because they have steady freight
Alec Billips Maybe so but as far as steady freight that’s a rumor because nothing is more steady than the load board. Its freight that needs to be moved everyday of the week.I pay 50.00 a Month for the DAT load board and the only time I’m not working is when I choose too.Worst case is just a long dead head but it’s definitely steady. At one point I was subscribed to 6 load boards but if you read the fine print they all are based off the DAT load board
Benjamin Weeks that’s good to know I heard about the dat board I plan on going to a owner operator company once I buy my own truck and use their authority for a while
@@trilogy3x true but, it's nothing like accepting or declining loads, choosing what areas you want to run & do home time as much as long as you want under your own authority, I'm leased on to a company now & it's not all that, I can't wait to start my small trucking business soon
@@terrellp22 it’ll be the same for me I was leasing to a company and i picked my own loads and declined loads and went where I wanted cuz they have they own load board it’s good enough for me until I wanna get my authority when it come to home time and all that it’s basically like having my own authority plus the load board lately since COVID has been kinda bad but it’s picked up I just feel like jumping straight into your own authority isn’t the best until you get some owner op experience
To tell you the truth I’m loving this guy video day by day I can’t wait to talk to him soon his make me have confidence on what I’m planning to do. 17 year driving truck I think is time for me to try this thank you for the information.
Don't be fooled. Did he actually give you any real information. Does he know what he is talking about. How much experience does this gentleman actually have on the subject. "Getting it set up uhhh the right way".
You never mentioned if it was still worth it or not tho I mean you talked about the cons but very Lil pros like how much you can make from having your own authority! No one knows about the huge rip off that a lot of these companies won’t tell what your actually getting paid for a load because you don’t have authority (basically your not the boss) but when you do have your authority you have access to a load board which allows you to see what you can really get paid for a load! So if you have a good broker or brokers that can keep you moving rather your in a sprinter straight truck or semi you could be looking any where from 15- to 20-30 or even 40 thousand a month easy with having your own authority! I recommend it for sure but you right tho make sure your prepared for the upfront cost because it ain’t cheap starting it up! Good luck everyone 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Hey man thanks for the video. This is exactly what I'm dealing with. First truck been CDL for 3 years. been doing my research and wanted to know would would be the difference in time and profit of me getting my own authority and hiring a dispatcher to handle freight and my drivers?
What's up man. I got questions I know you got answer what is the best way to start my own company I know the authority part but what else do I buy my truck right off our lease thanks bruh
How much insurance down payment I’m living in New York Which insurance company is cheap. I was company driver four years Now I’m owner operator lease under someone dot I decided to get my own authority I have dot number I apply New York hut I apply UCR I apply IFTA I apply boc-3 I had S corporation Now I’m wondering How much cost me insurance. I called couple place to get quotes still no body’s give me quotes
I don't have a truck yet. I had my CDL since 2006, drove for a few companies for a couple years and now I do not drive. I just got my LLC and EIN. Can I get my authority without a truck? I plan to hire a driver when I get the truck and see where it goes from there.
Upfront costs outside of insurance and baseplate should also include a enough money to pay for your truck, any maintenance issues and your household bills for at least a month just in case you start out and not get good loads in the beginning. Unless you plan on factoring or using quick pay and losing more percentage of your money you may have to wait up to 30 days to get paid. I wish someone had told me this when I got my authority years ago. I made it 6 months and ended up ch 13. Not hating on having your own authority cause I tried twice and it didn't work. I think people really need to know what they are getting into before they do it.
Kendrick Salley it’s not that hard honestly u just can’t go in it head over heels in debt honestly u don’t need much to start up either u just have to be good with managing money
StillHawginTV I respect what you are saying I just wanted to put that out because nobody told me that when I started. You are right cause when I did it I had two new trucks 120k and a 90k truck and two new 64k reefers and that was way too much overhead to start out with especially using load board so again you made key point can't start with a lot of debt. But I strongly suggest having enough put aside to carry your business and lifestyle for a minimum of a month just to be on safe side.
StillHawginTV My situation was also back in 2006 so trucking has changed a bit. Maybe I'm out of touch a Lil bit it happens after 20 years driving. I do respect what you are doing though and I wish you continued success my brother.
I finally put in for my authority last week. So I will be up and running in the next few weeks..
How’s your business so far

Good video man. One thing I can say is don't do it just for the respect...the respect ain't worth it. Lol. Otherwise go for it with a plan.
Woody amen bro without a plan running ur authority won’t succeed
It's taking me forever to be setup properly to get my own authority and in the end I might not do it cause I love the automation I have right now.
Woody honestly knowing what I know about your authority and dealing with drivers I would of waited 1yr before adding a truck to it
Thanks for the info!! enjoyed you dinner
Great advice !!!
Great Video and Advice.
Thanks for the help
That's the one reason I'm not on my own is the up front cost..
Greg F shit is expensive if u have multiple trucks
Stillhawgin, what software was you referring to about managing multiple trucks?
Thanks bro,great video!!
Good video Boss but the one thing nobody really talks about regarding having your own authority is. COLLECTIONS
T Hollins factoring? Or Billing customers?
StillHawginTV Both
The reason why I say both because if u factor and the broker or direct customer doesn't pay the factoring company takes the money back from u.
I’m a FedEx Ground contractor. I’ve just got my authority to pull for amazon. I’ve been hearing having your authority isn’t worth it.
Gee five it’s a love hate relationship it’s not for everyone but I enjoy the freedom of answering to no one
Good stuff Ghost. 👌
Fax’s! 💯
