Top fella. He washed up in Preston just about 20 miles North of my hometown in the UK, a bit like ending up in Pittsburgh here in the US, but being who he is, he just got on with it, making the most of the warm hospitality he received. Laughing at the size of his feet, as long as Jake's thighs. Massive hands too - good luck getting out of his iron grip.
Mad respect to him, I fought hodgkins three years ago just after my 18th birthday and before I took up jiu jitsu and can honestly say that to be training after chemo is savage. I had it via my arms too and it really does fuck them up, towards the end I'd have to have at least 6 cannulas in my arms before one would find a strong enough vein. To anyone out there who is currently going through this then all I can say is it's not that bad and you will come out of it stronger! I took up bjj as a way to recover and would fully recommend it to anyone. Not only does it bring your fitness back but it also helps to bring back the trust in your body
The best episode ever
Great interview, Jake. Happy to see my old friend Lagarto sharing his inspirational story.
