Yes thanks Jason. We need you back on the honeydew, episode 4?!
I hope Tony plugs sickler up with Bucky Lasek so we can get an episode with the Baltimore birdman!

Same!
Correction episode 5
Every 90’s baby had a skateboarding phase because of Tony Hawk ❤️.
Sickler you are the Tony Hawk of laugh Tracks.
I’ll never forget being 10 years old and going absolutely insane in my parents living room watching Tony land the 900 at the 99’ x games. Core skateboard memory.
You an 84 baby?..nm lol fast math says 89
I was 6! I remember clear as day. Another one was pastrana landing the double backflip
One of the greatest moments in sports. Single handedly changed the skateboard AND video game industry.
@@FelonyChris two of my greatest TV memories by a long shot
Same. I’m a Bmx guy but always loved skating and watching Tony pull that is engraved into my brain
You really could not wish for a more humble, gracious, and kind man to be the face of skateboarding. Just a legend and role model through and through
Yo Ryan, my dad is 85 and I’m 28. I won’t lie, there are some hard parts of having an older dad but overwhelmingly it’s been positive, you’re gonna have a great time with your kid and that’s what’s important❤️
The key is caring, the rest is largely damage control.
So when you were graduating high school he was 75!! Wow, what a beast!
Your Dad had you at 57, was he looking young for his age? Sorry for the nosy questions, just fascinated
@@tobymcgroby8967yep 👍🏻 All good, I would say he does, looking at other people the same age his skin is tighter and he he’s sill got pretty good muscle definition
@@TheCrawf28X15 That's incredible, Seriously! Did you figure out how he managed to stay so healthy & youthful?
I realize sometimes it's just genetics, my Dad is turning 62 in 4 months, but he looks 45. Somehow it's discouraging lol..
Funny how a lot of us comedy fans and comics all skate boarded growing up. I feel like I always loved individual sports. from skating, wrestling, to comedy. Super Sick to see Tony Hawk on the podcast. I love how Ryan has had a bunch of skaters on the pod.
Skater my whole life growing up then lost the ability when I moved
Yo shoutout to gun! Played the shit out of it on my og Xbox back when I was 9 years old. I love that red dead ended up becoming the premier cowboy game but I always thought that gun was better than red dead revolver at the time. And of course I played pro skater 4 through project 8. Love Tony hawk, the fucking legend!
Skateboarding was such a major part of my childhood. Tony Hawk has always been an inspiration to me and other kids in my age group. Love your podcast Sickle Cell, it's my favorite to listen to through my work week. Happy Toosdee!
Was also a major part of my son's life. Tony Hawk was his hero..
who remembers that episode of Rocket Power when they went to Tony's "Hawks Nest"
That's burned into my brain. The neon ramps and shit. Rocket Power was a great show. Used to discuss each new episode of that and DragonBall Z every week with my friends when we were 9 lol
Sickler’s serious tone and facial expression when he asked Tony, “You broke your pelvis in a gorilla suit?” to automatically laughing hysterically in Tony Hawk’s face after he replied yes is absolutely hilarious. Just absolutely laughing at how ridiculous and stupid that is right in Tony’s face. lol. 😂😂
I grew up watching Tony and playing his games.. Made me want to skateboard which I went on to do for over a decade. What an awesome guy.
Ryan you’re really leveling up as an interviewer, can’t wait to see this thing blow up
Tony hawk is definitely someone who doesnt drench his wings in sauce
Sounds like you're off about 9 inches buddy!
@@TheSlowPony77 James Brown was 6’3”… on his mom’s shoulders.
@@DavisD814 ROLL TIDE!!!
Nobodies better than ole sickle-cell at getting those unique stories out of people. I'm only a few minutes into this episode but I'm excited for this conversation.
Two very influential individuals, sharing experiences and laughing through the good and the bad. Man I love this podcast
The “Tony Hawk” roller coaster at Six Flags St. Louis hasn’t officially been called the Tony Hawk for like 9 years. I still don’t know the current name and refer to it as the “Tony Hawk” to this day
Six Flags St Louis has always been such a fun park over the years. I'm 34, and the 90s was so badass there!
Ryan has a gift he is always getting the best stories out of people!!
Mr. Hawk is such a chill, relatable dude. Love every podcast he has been on but his chemistry with Mr. Sickler was especially enjoyable
YES!!!!! Just Made My Toosday!!! ♥️😊♥️
Amazing! Tony hawk was the reason I started to skate when I was 4. The video games, the UA-cam tutorials on how to Ollie! Absolute legend! Big part of my life.
Tony Hawk is the Tony Hawk of Skating
THPS 4* was it man. Peak tony hawk gaming. Xbox load your own soundtrack, SOAD Steal this album is burned into my brain forever.
Ballgames in the refrigerator... door is closed... lights are out.. butters getting hard!!
WHAT A SPLENDID PIE, PIZZA PIZZA PIE
Thps3 and Underground were my favorites. Those soundtracks opened me up to so much music
What a great Podcast Ryan with the legend Hawk! I was a skate rat when I was kid and now I'm 38 and I'm getting back on the board and I fucking love it, the passion have not gone away.
This episode was even better that expected, and I have no doubt that Tony needs to come back. Ryan just cracked the surface.
“..in a gorilla suit” 😂
tony hawk truly is the greatest ambassador you could have for your sport/art/hobbie whatever you want to call skateboarding.
Tony is so cool. I never get tired of his origin story
Tony Hawk could always endorse anything at any age he just stays iconic
Ryan is the Tony Hawk of highlighting the lowlights!
I’ve been skating for over 20 years and this man has been a part of my life the whole time. I have nothing but respect and thankful for Birdman for keeping the fire burning and doing so much for the sport I love more than anything else… now I’m 33 and still skate as much as I can. Thanks Tony 💜
If you grew up and skated in the 80s. Tony hawk was our babe Ruth. Awesome podcast as usual!!
So who was Hosoi?
At 10, I lost my vision. At 12 I discovered Tony Hawk and skateboarding. I dove in 100%. I cried the night Tony did the first 900 because it was so meaningful. At 14, my dad died and skateboarding saved my life during high school. Tony is who I now, at 35, still look up to and introduce my kids to. Love you Hawk man and you too, Ryan!
How did you get along skating without vision? R.i.p to your dad
@@ext93 I retained a small amount of vision but remained legally blind. I had to learn to do most things by field and setting up Waze for me to identify obstacles. For instance, I couldn’t see the edge of a stair set, so I may have a friend stand at the top of the stairs and I would know to Ollie the stairs when I got close to that friend.
@@booboobangbang6685 I understand. That's pretty cool of your friends. I've had bad vision since I was 7 (I'm 29 now) but I can see with glasses. Is your blindness just really blurry? Like can you make out general objects but everything is unclear? I'm fascinated by blindness - I'll probably be legally blind by the time I'm 60 lol. Eye problems run in my family. My grandma had macular degeneration and was legally blind when she got older, and my mom has had cataracts but got them removed.
I know there's different types but I always wondered if there's people that see nothing at all vs. being able to see shapes but not see them clearly.
I always have friends ask me what it's like to need glasses, now I'm asking you the same question! Hope it doesn't bother you, I'm just curious. It's awesome that you can still skate.
I lost my dad last year at 28 and it destroyed me. I can't imagine how hard it was for you at 14. Keep riding bro
@@ext93 Hey man. Happy to answer the blind questions. I actually have a juvenile for of macular degeneration known as Stargardts disease. I have no central vision and the peripheral is 20/400, very blurry. Sorry to about your dads passing. It’s tough, I know.
That's a wild ride BooBoo thanks for sharing-Knoxville
The Tony Hawk ride was at the Vallejo six flags in California, my whole family watched Tony skate growing up and we all loved that ride. It was one of our favorites😋
forever known as marine world, fuck discovery kingdom
Didn't expect Tony Hawk's baseball story. That was deep. Ryan your rad! Love the pod. Your laugh is the best
I've listened to countless interviews of Birdman. Don't think I've ever heard him get so serious and say "get help" like he did in this interview. That's what makes Tony so great is that he's genuine in his interviews.
Still remember how excited I was to get home from school to play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 on N64.. I loved the first warehouse stage, but HATED the Mall stage.. Great music, same for Matt Hoffman's game.
One of my fave memories is when Boom Boom Huck jam came to OKC… seeing Tony Hawk alongside the Oklahoma hero Mat Hoffman and Face to Face playing live as the soundtrack to the whole thing 🤯
Anyone else notice Tony trying to hold back some level of pain when he answered the last question. Those were some real emotions there at 1:10:30. I hope he makes peace with what ever he is dealing with
This is why Sickler is the best!
Kinda sounds like he has some anxiety and imposter syndrome. It's interesting in his professional life he has learned to push through pain and being uncomfortable but in his personal one on one he seems to be forthcoming about how he never thinks he's good enough.
I wholeheartedly agree with changing the sayin to "he's the Tony hawk of ..." dudes an absolute legend
“The Tony Hawk Of” has a nice ring to it
I’m a huge fan of Tony hawk and have seen pretty much every interview of his and I gotta say this is a good one. I love the podcast
Always enjoy an episode of the honey dew with Ryan. Keep up the great interviews Ryan. Love highlighting the low lights.
I never realized that Tony Hawk Underground was so inspired by his real experience. I thought it was mostly made up. When he talked about checking pro for a comp when he wasnt, that happens in the game when the character decides to do it to enter the competition. A few other things
And Tony's impersonation of Stacy Peralta is spot on with Peralta's character in the game lol
The 1st time I took my Nephew to Six Flags in Dallas, the Tony Hawk Rollercoaster was his very 1st ride. It was so much fun!
I didn't expect a GUN shoutout from Tony Hawk! Haha, that's a wild game. It was great to hear this side of things from him after seeing him on a few pods recently. Great pod again Ryan!
The Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio had his roller coaster. I remember being on it when it was called the Tony Hawk ride. After a while it changed to a different name and I never knew why till now.
Let’s go Sickler! Great guest great interview. This is the caliber guest your show deserves!
It's crazy that he's 53 and still learning new tricks
Hawk vs. Wolf is amazing, another great Twosdy. This show is Rad thanks Sickle Cell. FTCF5*'s
Thank Frank Hawk for Tony being the easiest to deal with ;)
What a great ep. He is the most down to Earth g.o.a.t. there is. He makes me proud that he is the ambassador of the sport I love.
I love how Tony is so good his things work so well and clothes and items are so nice he needs no plugs
Happy Tuesdee y’all!
got on the treadmill to do some short cardio and this drops / guess im walkin an hour! great stuff as always sickler
It's crazy that tony started skating at 10. I got a board when I was like 8 (because of his video games) and when I was 11 I couldn't even ollie. There was other kids in school that skated and I felt so behind and like I could never be good. If I knew that back then I would have went a lot harder with practicing. Ended up picking it back up when I turned 17 but stopped after I fell and busted my shoulder when I was 21. I miss skating
Who else can say they’ve personally plugged their 30yo company on a modern podcast. This is the stuff of legend.
Ryan Sickler is right! I grew up watching the Bulls (mom from Chicago) and Lakers (dad from LA) and Michael Jordan is “the Tony Hawk of 🏀” 💯💯💯
Sickle cell love your pod needs to be longer
Damn this just dropped but I'm a stuck at work with no headphones can't wait to see it Sickle Cell!
i fuckin love this. so hyped, i just did a kickflip and broke an ankle. fuckin tremendous.
RYAN LOL
"HOK VS WUFF"
2 Great Men chatting it up.
Love these shows on Toosday
You know, I was never a fan of Tony Hawk specifically, as I wasn’t a huge fan of vert skating. But in the grand scheme of things there are few people that have had a bigger influence on my life. Those video games got me into skating and alternative music and both of those things gave me purpose in my youth. Didn’t have any real great success with skating, but I became a musician and got a lot of great experiences and stories from it. Maybe I’d have gotten into music regardless but THPS definitely was a big inspiration. Great interview as always.
That six flags ride was in Vallejo, man that thing was gnarly. You’d spin like in a teacup but you’d be riding downhill and doing flips while spinning. I think they took it down eventually because of branding but also because it just wasn’t that fun afterwards. Even roller coaster enthusiasts were getting sick
Love listening to tony , such an inspiration
What a beautiful Tuesday!
There was a Tony Hawk’s Big Spin at Six Flags in Vallejo, California. It was like teacups on a track. Four coordinated people could get that thing spinning pretty good.
Thank you very much to Tony and ofcourse Ryan for making this episode come to life!
Tony Hawk is a national treasure. Can't wait to hear what Ryan can pull out of him.
I’m from the UK so I can’t really do much to help but Sickler needs to be in theatres 💪🏻
The fact that Tony brought up the game GUN makes me so fucking happy
“Thank God you quit little league” hit me so hard! Shout out to the Birdman!!! You have no clue how much you mean to so many of us!
Sickler, you are a great interviewer!
commin out to vancouver from ALBERTA cant wait
Tony hawk’s bigspin my favorite ride as a youngster at the SixFlags over Texas in Arlington tx the ride is still one of my favorites in the park
Amazing to watch this podcast get better and better every week.
Happy Toosdee errbody!
Love the Birdman. The admittance that his games and the career he chose shaped my childhood. Hawkman is a Respectable gentleman and god damn is he a professional. Great Interview Ryan!
Finally finished this episode. Such a great fuckin show. Love your interviews Sickler!
Lmao I got to go on Tony hawk big spin on my 8th grade field trip back in the day lol it was at the Vallejo six flags in CA
White Marsh Mall Reach for the Beach! Bought my 1st board there! Tony Hawk board Tracker trucks with Slime Ball wheels lol. Love the pod Ryan
I told my gf last week that I wished birdman would be on this podcast
Awesome comedian / podcast host meets GOAT skater

Everyone here should check out the Rodney Mullen interview on Tony and Jason's podcast, it's great
