Nick kinda got me into woodworking (though I am not prepared to claim I am one - though do hope it will happen one day). It got me through some tough times (mentally) in the past 2+ years. Nothing dramatic like "it saved my life", but it really did change my life in the best way. It's like meditation - you get in a "zone", but you are also (i) doing real, physical work; (ii) trying not to make a mistake, because you are working with wood - and that wood lived a whole life of its own before it got to you - you are privileged to have it, so you must respect it; (iii) when you - inevitably - make a mistake you must figure out a way to fix it. But it's never stressful - even making mistakes and figuring things out. And it makes you appreciate things. Call me nuts, but when you doing a good job - you actually feel the wood giving back some warmth. Hard to explain. And now my oak home office table is made by me - and should last for generations. And working behind it will always be special. Thank you, Nick!
This is great- love Nick Offerman! Obviously he is most famous from his character Ron Swanson- he brought joy from his honest humor, realness and wisdom. its so great that so much of his truth came through that character and everyone more comfortable being themselves saying and doing what they feel. Genuine people in the media are rare-that is why he is so unique.

I love Nick, and following On Being for a long time, I can say that this was for me one of the most interesting interviews. Bravo for the both of you!

Nick Offerman is himself. He is unique. And he has the best giggle - an incredibly joyful sound coming out of this extremely masculine figure. 😜
Great talk! 👍
