But don’t you like your rear fog lamps coming on randomly? ;-). How long before they go back to the push/pull rotary switch after people keep turning the heated rear window on by mistake as unlike the new Golf this set of switches is out of the drivers eyeline?
Challenge, get in the car on a cold frosty morning and see how long it takes to turn on the heated windscreen, the rear heated windscreen, the heated seats and switch from media to radio, before taking it out of Sport / Cupra mode and putting it in comfort I can do that in 10 or so seconds in my current car as it has dedicated switches. I am guessing around 2 minutes in these new all integrated touch screen things.

I could also use my smartphone to preheat the vehicle and defrost the windows before i get in, then i sign in with my profile, so car is in comfort/individual and have set my audio source, ambient light etc... In my case spotify over Android Auto wireless. It is not all that bad when you adopted this system and used it for a while, in the beginning it is a bit confusing. Android auto wireless is so genius, put your smartphone in the wireless charger and after 10s the smartphone is connected ready to start with google maps and spotify, simple and it works. You can put your seat heating on with 2 finger on the climate slider and steering wheel heating with a button. Also i dont get why all people hate these sliders, dont fucking slide just tap on the cold/warm side and it will change in 0,5° steps everything else in the climate is auto. i didnt had to change it since i have this car. The audio you have on the wheel with a rotary nop and buttons to skip or change stations, so no complaints either. The only thing wich is a bit frustrating is to change the driving modes, wich i rarely do and to change from electric into hybrid mode. For these two features there should be shortcut button.
Manufactures are turning cars into mobile computers, I hate this trend, I imagine not too far down the road many of these cars features will fail and be too expensive to repair. For instance the door lock modules on VW Mk4 when they go out it's a major PITA to fix and not cheap (that's just a old example of electronic failure). Wonder how much that tail light will cost on this Seat Leon, probably a few dollars more than a light bulb same for those LED headlights...will they last the life of the car? Removing the buttons/controls for touch sensitive switches is ok as long as the car isn't moving...oh wait moving is what cars do. Headlight (bulbs) used to cost around $10 now what's that LED headlight going to cost when it fails AFTER warranty $1000-2000 each?
Well said. I'm still looking at Brera's interior and think it's better than most of the new cars with those lovely indicators above the screen. If I wanted an ipod I'd buy one. I just want a real car. And of course I hate all those lane keeping assist and sign recognition features. ABS and ESP are enough. I am the driver, not the car's software.
I think it's a safety hazard. With a dial that provides haptic feedback, I can use the systems almost blindly once I know it and know where I am in the menus. With a touchscreen I need to coordinate hand and eyes and can't look onto traffic. Not to mention that the touch buttons in VW are not very responsive
Saves money. But I hate it too. Look at the Tesla, one screen and nothing else. If they have to design an entire dash with all the usual button and dials it will cost a fortune.

But when a car brand starts doing things right, the quality raises hence they'll get more sales. You can see Mazda in the last year has made huge steps in sales, and if you at least understand something (not much is required) is that quality and in general a "good" car takes time.
@@BodhiLF right but my point is that a national brand motivates people from that country to buy it plus theres the price, usually govermments want national brands to creat jobs and when they do that they get incentives such as lower taxes and so on, things that are attractive to the costomer, thats one of the reasons why many companies get big, of course theres the quality side to it, but when youre a native car brand in one of the biggest markets in Europe with decent quality and an overall good price of course your going to grow not only in popularity but also in size, thats what i was trying to say
Had my mk3 for a couple of years, been a perfect car, love the looks and very cheap to run, and being the 1.4tsi also fun to drive, will definitely go for Seat again and glad to say I like the look of the new mk4, inside is a big improvement.👍

Think that's the same in any Android auto set up. There is a plus. Your phone gets charged when using. If your phone is using GPS and Bluetooth the battery will drop fast!
The exterior looks amazing but the interior just feels thrown together last minute just like in the golf. What happened to the built in screen like in the old version
toaster even if they look better they are actually not that good. When they sit on top of your dash they are in your field of view. If you take the new Audis for example, like the A6,7,8, Q8. There you have to look always away from the street to look where you touch with your fingers.... In the Leon for example you can even see what happens on the street, even when you look at the screen.
It’s a cool car and if I had the change to own one, I would, but I still think the golf looks better. It’s like Matt said in a previous video, the Siat is boringly perfect on the inside. Whereas the golf has more of a wow factor and excitement to it. And I mean it’s a golf

I still miss my mk 11 Leon 2.0 tdi sport, not a single problem in 8 years of ownership, still had the original discs and pads at 55k miles and the original Bridgstone tyres lasted 30k miles.
The rear is a bit too round somehow. Makes it look even higher from the ground than it already is. Otherwise nice but the I like a bit more aggressive styling on the old one a bit more.
Old shape luks better. If old shape slightly bigger Seat Leon had all the new features inc engine and led lights would be perfect car for its category.
The last question I haven’t found an answer yet: does it have a torsion beam in all trims? or a multi-link rear suspension with more powerful (more than 150hp) versions similar to Octavia? Talking about styling it reminds me first gen. Mazda 3 which I owned years ago.
In Germany there is a word called " verschlimmbessern ". It means you change something that was good before and make it worse. I think this happened with the new Golf, the Seat Leon and also will happen with the new Audi A3. All those cars share the same evolved platform which changed their proportions unfortunately. The Leon had a really nice and dynamic looking side profile before. Now they added 4,5 cm more frontal overhang ( same with Golf and Audi ) and the nose is way too long suddenly. I thought the front end of the current model was the best looking one amongst competitors ...
I have the current Leon in the FR variant and for me I can’t get away with the new model. I like the current one for it’s more angular and sporty design but this new model seems to have lost that a little.
Deleting functional psychical buttons and adding that ugly tablet there does not seem a step forward for me honestly. I still like the mk3 interior more, and if we talk about the external design mk3 eats the mk4 everyday.
Cant stand the fake exhausts. I replaced my MK7 golf with 2019 Leon FR sport because the MK7.5 golf R line had fake exhausts. Looks like i will be looking at other makes in 2yrs for my next replacement because i wont go for new Leon due to the pretend exhausts
got a 2006 leon 1.9 tdi engine sounds a little rough on tickover but its got a stage 1 map and is a great car pulls really well handles well a cracking car

Extra bright lights are a real pain at night,coming towards you they virtually blind you which isn’t nice, if they’re auto dipping then fine because some drivers just don’t bother.
Both the Octavia and the Leon are now the better looking alternatives to the Golf 8 and I have to be honest the Golf fanboy inside me died a little when the 8 gen was released. It may not have been the best car in any category but it did so many things right and personally I liked the look of it (only on higher trim levels to be fair). This is really disappointing. As is the new 1 series. I hope Audi won't screw up the A3 like that.
I think that's my biggest gripe with Seats, they just look so generic. They're like tesco own brand hatchbacks. Perfectly good cars, but they just look like an amalgamation of every other manafacturer
It's weird how throughout the exterior and interior, the theme seems to be very sport and angular yet they went with round wavy cursive for the name badge. Really throws off all the effort and minute details they did. It is a very good looking car though and certainly makes the new golf look aged and old but I'm sure diehard golf fans won't care. I expect pricing to undercut the golf and look forward to seeing a cupra version.
I have seen or heard noone adress the placement of the key. On the video it looks like you can place it in the slot right on the left hand side of the gear lever. Does it have to be there or does it just fint there?
I said this when the golf 8 dropped. The problem is Peugeot went minimalist. And got criticised for it. VW went away with the physical buttons and although I know people will hate that. I can bet the reviews wo t be harsh on it. I think Peugeot tend to be early to something new where people are not ready for the changes going forward. When Mercedes dropped their new dashboard. People began to accept it. It’s partly badge snobbery and bias. Strangely enough. I’ve just dropped my seat Leon FR for a Peugeot 308 two weeks ago. This Leon is better than the one I had. Actually it’s probably better all round than my 308. But no manual in the 190hp leaves me feeling very satisfied (that I can’t want it having just had a new car)
@@theplug4981 the steering wheel has the exact same shape and the airconditioning has the same position. Put in the ambient led lighting as well and you have a 2008. And do not forget peugeot used ro work with bmw up until very recently

Knobs will be missed but voice commands are improved so perhaps it'll be a matter of getting used to.

In Germany there is a word called " verschlimmbessern ".
It means you change something that was good before and make it worse.
I think this happened with the new Golf, the Seat Leon and also will happen with the new Audi A3.
All those cars share the same evolved platform which changed their proportions unfortunately.
The Leon had a really nice and dynamic looking side profile before.
Now they added 4,5 cm more frontal overhang ( same with Golf and Audi ) and the nose is way too long suddenly.
I thought the front end of the current model was the best looking one amongst competitors ...

This looks better than the golf. I hope comfort also will be better. I had a leon but it was very uncomfortable.

I have the current Leon in the FR variant and for me I can’t get away with the new model.
I like the current one for it’s more angular and sporty design but this new model seems to have lost that a little.

The current Leon is pretty good looking, but I just can't get over the front headlights. They're so ugly. This one looks to improve that by miles.

Deleting functional psychical buttons and adding that ugly tablet there does not seem a step forward for me honestly. I still like the mk3 interior more, and if we talk about the external design mk3 eats the mk4 everyday.

Cant stand the fake exhausts. I replaced my MK7 golf with 2019 Leon FR sport because the MK7.5 golf R line had fake exhausts. Looks like i will be looking at other makes in 2yrs for my next replacement because i wont go for new Leon due to the pretend exhausts

got a 2006 leon 1.9 tdi engine sounds a little rough on tickover but its got a stage 1 map and is a great car pulls really well handles well a cracking car
comparing it to the new golf is like comparing your appearance to burn victims

Extra bright lights are a real pain at night,coming towards you they virtually blind you which isn’t nice, if they’re auto dipping then fine because some drivers just don’t bother.

Proud owner of a Leon Cupra 290 from 2016 and i only have one thing to say.. apart from the new technology, i wouldn’t trade it for the new one.
Got a 280sc and pretty much in the same boat, especially since their won't be an SC version of the new car either.

Both the Octavia and the Leon are now the better looking alternatives to the Golf 8 and I have to be honest the Golf fanboy inside me died a little when the 8 gen was released. It may not have been the best car in any category but it did so many things right and personally I liked the look of it (only on higher trim levels to be fair). This is really disappointing. As is the new 1 series. I hope Audi won't screw up the A3 like that.

I think that's my biggest gripe with Seats, they just look so generic. They're like tesco own brand hatchbacks. Perfectly good cars, but they just look like an amalgamation of every other manafacturer
It's weird how throughout the exterior and interior, the theme seems to be very sport and angular yet they went with round wavy cursive for the name badge. Really throws off all the effort and minute details they did. It is a very good looking car though and certainly makes the new golf look aged and old but I'm sure diehard golf fans won't care. I expect pricing to undercut the golf and look forward to seeing a cupra version.

I have seen or heard noone adress the placement of the key. On the video it looks like you can place it in the slot right on the left hand side of the gear lever. Does it have to be there or does it just fint there?

I said this when the golf 8 dropped. The problem is Peugeot went minimalist. And got criticised for it. VW went away with the physical buttons and although I know people will hate that. I can bet the reviews wo t be harsh on it.
I think Peugeot tend to be early to something new where people are not ready for the changes going forward. When Mercedes dropped their new dashboard. People began to accept it. It’s partly badge snobbery and bias.
Strangely enough. I’ve just dropped my seat Leon FR for a Peugeot 308 two weeks ago.
This Leon is better than the one I had. Actually it’s probably better all round than my 308. But no manual in the 190hp leaves me feeling very satisfied (that I can’t want it having just had a new car)

@@theplug4981 the steering wheel has the exact same shape and the airconditioning has the same position. Put in the ambient led lighting as well and you have a 2008. And do not forget peugeot used ro work with bmw up until very recently

I've strong feeling, google maps already communicates with other travelers who have android devices to send traffic information to a person using Maps. Very clever from Google.
