    Wow, 7 years of piano lessons as a kid and I never heard any of this. I've always wanted to learn how to play by ear and no one could explain it to me. Thank you for explaining and clarifying the process. I now know what I need to do. Your video is awesome!👏

      Music has many aspects to it. This video does well in providing the framework for those different aspects and giving them compatibility for each other. Probably most important is the human experience in achieving this, and I think the video does such a terrific job. It still won't make a person get it without the work but the first step is always in recognizing the process. And remain humble as there are probably so much to music development that it really is more of a marathon than a sprint. Personally I knew about the limitation of dividing the approaches from sight reading to ear training, but this video provides a bridge to let everyone know that it these approaches do not have to be mutually exclusive. They are complementary. When the spokes of a bicycle wheel is even, the wheel can roll in a balanced, efficient way. Often times we hear about how 1 approach or method to the exclusion of others as to superiority but musicians should embrace working on all these aspects even if they don't become great at any one of them or begin over again.

    Thanks Mr warren...really much appreciated sir,am a music enthusiast
    I play at a local church in South Africa, your tutorials have helped a tons, particularly by learning songs that are sang at church.. your advice on melody plus chords, arpeggios(rhythm), adding the 9ths on major chords and sevenths on minor. Practicing on metronome or drum loops on my keyboard i keep working on these as a guide
    On harmony I remember in one of your videos you said it's not worth going to passing chords without working on rhythm or else will sound static 😂
    My real Challenge is when a song I never practiced is sang at church. They don't put me into much pressure. They really appreciate the efforts I make so yeah.. your tutorials have helped a great deal thanks... at times am discouraged, by slow progress but well I keep on working

    I learned to play by ear by thinking about music like magnets when u listen to song theres only so many notes u can pick. When u hit a note that’s in the scale it almost feels like it sticks and if u play a key not in that scale it feels like it’s clashing/Replling like a magnet super easy to find scales this was wish I could explain it a bit bette

    Bless you Warren. As an adult beginner, what do I have to do to internalize melody, make it intuitive?

    • @PianoLessonwithWarren
      @PianoLessonwithWarren  10 місяців тому +2

      First learn to sing the melody by heart. Then learn it on the piano based on a key, and in the context of the chords.

      @@obisraelngawani1373 if you’re referring to notating a melody, the process is the same regardless of the speed. However, this is outside the scope of what I do in this channel.
