I think the reason why those old N64 game controllers had so much more passion into them was simply because back then, the lower definition of games meant that more of the budget could be put elsewhere. Nowadays, the game is where the budget is at, and as for PC, since the creator of said device is definitely not the one who makes the controller, they leave it to other companies to do it. They simply want to make money, so passion in every department isn’t really there as it used to be. There are exceptions, at least for certain controllers, certain games, etc, which is good enough, but could be better. I have three Xbox one controllers, and each one has an issue, even the official one that came with my Xbox One S. That one has a right stick drift, so I can only use it for emulators that only require the left stick. As for my PowerA controller, it has no input issues and works fine, but the A button is a bit sensitive now and is a bit more jammed in than the other buttons, so it doesn’t feel right. My third controller, which was the cheapest, was some rando controller I found from Amazon. Works well enough, but in one specific game(and probably not so great connections), the horrible input lag makes you feel like you’re controlling a character 5 seconds in the future or something.
