The fact Lex and Grace Chasity are played by the same person is fucking surreal to me
Welcome to Starkid. :P
Have you seen Delores Umbridge, Voldemort, and Batman yet?
I love how theyre played by the same person because i feel like if they met they would hate eachother and get annoyed at peoples saying they look alike
Angela is perfect for this song (and Lex). I love Mariah, but I feel like her singing voice is just too clean and crisp for Lex. Angela is an amazing singer and she just has that little touch of grit to her voice that really sells Lex
The actual video version is better than this, just for that reason. She had a cold at the time, which made her voice even rougher than usual.
The abrupt ending right when the song is at its climax mirrors perfectly Lex's own story, a life cut short right before shining it's brightest. It gives me chills everytime.
was she killed in the end? i didnt get it
@@exclusively0ccupiedit’s implied she was nuked alongside the rest of hatchetfield :(
they song is sung when it seems as though shes about to die
@megankent-pb1pf I thought that the end implied that they all got stuck in a loop, explaining why Hannah was asking if tomorrow will come. Also, at the beginning and end of Black Friday, we can hear the same ticking clock. Plus, the nuke that Wiggly had already exploded when he bombed the other portal, originally foreshadowed by Hannah when she said "Two doors, not one". Once Wiggly nuked the other side, Mr. Prezzy Wezz can be heard saying "Two doors, not one". But I might be wrong lol
I love the emotion Angela puts into this song. Her voice is just so perfect for Lex. Mariah would’ve done spectacular, no question. But something about Angela’s performance as Lex is just so raw and real and it really works for this type of character. I love it.
Best song in the musical. Angela has such a great voice
and Peggy
I've never actually heard the studio version before, Angela's voice is gorgeous
Me finally connecting the dots that the "seed" line is here 'cause Mariah was originally gonna play Lex
I think Jeff just likes to sneak it in to every show he writes the music for (thinking of tto and “and spread our family seed :D”
@@BigKicksMix and not your seed
@Cecille Gultiano yeah I think using
‘seed’ is inherently funny and it’s like he saw that in tto and challenged himself to use it in a serious heartbreaking context and succeeded 😅
This song really hits home for me personally. When I first watched black Friday when it came out I was living with my grandpa. I gradually forgot about the musical and a year or so later I was thrown into Lexes situation almost to a T. I was living with my junkie mother and was forced to raise my younger sister (6 as of now. I am currently 15). I love my sister dearly and tried my best to protect her from our mother and the random people she would bring Into our home for drugs. I was at my lowest point in February of this year. My mother was fully into her addiction and her abuse had turned physical for the first time both towards me and my sister. I was just so stuck because at that point my mother was my only family so I had absolutely no one to turn to. I don’t believe in god or any other kind of higher power but if I did then it would have been an act of god that my mother overdosed on February 24th. It was both the worst and best day of my life. I don’t know if me or my sister would be alive if she had not. She is alive btw but her overdose led to me and my sister escaping. She is with my aunt and I am in the process of moving in with my partner and his family. I actually showed my partner Black Friday a few days ago and suddenly it hit me that me and Lexes stories mirror eachother a scary amount. The line “Maybe I needed her more then she needed me” hit home for me. If I could I’d thank Jeff Blim for writing this character. Lexes story hits home for so many people including myself. And I hope anyone who is in her situation can make it out of it safe.
Not to mention your name. I hope you guys are still doing well.
this song is so raw and emotional and beautiful. I love Angela's voice so much and I honestly start to cry like crazy every time I watch Black Friday because of this song.
Underrated song. One of my favorites just based on how heart-wrenchingly good it is.
Chills. Just…chills. The best song in the musical hands down. Angela’s voice and the emotion she puts into it is perfection
As someone that just wants to get way from my parents, this song hits hard.
I absolutely LOVE this song and Angela's voice in it!!!! So beautiful!
I love how much range Angela has
This song just hits different
YESSSSS, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
