Hello Redesigners! While this was a list of the "Worst" states, we hope we showed you a little of both sides - what may be the "worst" for some, could also hold some amazing opportunities for others! What are YOUR best and worst state choices?
@@KG-xt4oqwe were just passing through Marion. Check out our community tab on UA-cam or our Facebook page for a list of places we will be doing “hang outs” 😊
Best place to RV: central Mexico in my opinion... Currently in a beautiful park with full hookups and wifi in Oaxaca in a well manicured park setting with many shade trees, clean showers and bathrooms, shared outdoor kitchen and huge palapa dining/gathering areas, pizza oven AND a sparkling clean pool. We pay 7800 pesos a month here or around $430 at the current exchange rate. Toll roads all the way down here from Texas.
Thank You! I'm tired of UA-cam airheads putting states on their "Worst States for RVers" list just because a state is boring to drive through. You actually give specific reasons that affect RVers.
It's not the fact that the speed limit is 55 mph when towing a travel trailer in CA, I don't have a problem driving a little slower, it's the fact that some vehicles are allowed to go 70 mph while others are only allowed to go 55 mph on the interstates. What genius thought it was a good idea to get different types of vehicles going different speeds creating almost an obstacle course like experience. Absolutely brilliant!!!
I was born and raised in Rhode Island, my wife was born just over the Rhode Island border in Bellingham, Massachusetts. We moved out of New England in 1999 and never looked back. Safe travels guys.
We just went thru the PRNY on the way to Massachusestan and because we have a Diesel truck and have an Open Roads fuel card we did not find the fuel prices too bad. We paid like $3.20 a gal at a TA truck stop in Montgomery and $3.40 at Loves in Cannan. That's a heck of a lot better than the over $4 full retail prices.
Born and raised in Hawai’i and that should be #1. U can’t drive it there from any other state, u can’t drive very far cuz it’s an island, gas is super expensive. I’ve never seen an RV there because it just doesn’t make sense…..maybe, just maybe a class B or overlanding trucks.
RE: Massachusetts--stay off Storrow Drive in Boston unless you want to destroy your RV. Talk about low bridge heights. People driving trucks especially seem to ignore the height warnings painted on all the bridges on Storrow Drive and then proceed to plow through, tearing the roof off their trailer in spectacular fashion. Happens all the time. Also, if you have LP tanks on your rig, you are not allowed to drive through any of the tunnels running through the city and after the completion of the Big Dig, there are numerous tunnels. If you're coming from the north and you're heading to Cape Cod, you can avoid driving through Boston by taking route128 (RT.95). As a matter of fact, just stay out of the city of Boston altogether unless you're driving a Class B. The streets are very narrow and some are still paved with cobblestones.
Since I last wrote, I went from Redding Ca to SLC and south through Phoenix then on I-10 and up thru New Mexico and then east on I-40 to Nashville. Then I drove west on I-40 back to Las Vegas. So far I’ve found that my rear sway bar bracket had snapped, my hitch receiver had come loose and was bent, the microwave had come loose/detached and was moving around the cabinet AND my rear tv had broken from its mounts. My coach is currently in the shop/ dealer for repairs. I was just amazed that the roads had deteriorated so much. I can’t tell you how many pot holes I hit that rattled my teeth and me yelling profanities. WHAT DID THEY DO WITH THE MONEY!! We have become a third world country.
Born & raised in N CA. Fuel prices are high, roads not as bad (state highways) as many other states. Wife & I almost fulltime RV. Currently in KY, Bourbon trail. Best RV trip in CA, start south end 395 on the east side of the Sierras & go north. Take a side trip into Yosemite then back to 395. Go north to Susanville take 44 to 89. Go north 89 to Mt Shasta area. Go west to Cresent City and go south Hwy 1 down to Fort Bragg. After that, get out of CA:)
We were RVing in New Jersey, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Skaneateles New York a couple weeks ago. My favorite place we stoped at was Watkins Glen State Park! So beautiful!
Great time of year for your visit! Watkins Glen is such an amazing State Park! We subbed to your channel, looks like you have some solid content! Safe travels
@@liferedesigned Yes, it is a beautiful place! Also, thanks for subscribing to me! You guys do a great job sharing the RV lifestyle! I plan to go full time one day, but for now I am just getting started on UA-cam and make a lot of RV related videos as well as RV trip videos every few months! Have a great day guys!
Even though I am from Nebraska, I agree with your choices. I took a road trip up through New England just to say........been there and done that. I was not impressed with the area at all. Not only for the issues you listed, but because of all the toll roads. I was receiving toll bills months after I got home. There are also very few national points of interest in the area, unless you will willing to drive down town to see them. Lucky for me, being a vetran, I stayed at military bases whenever I could.
East coast traffic, bad roads with congestion and construction and tolls make driving horrible and expensive. Plus the east coast is unfriendly for boondocking.
We have been following you guys for a while and I can honestly say I agree, especially about Connecticut. We live in Connecticut and although there are a few places we love to camp there are also a lot of low bridges and bad roads that we have almost gotten stuck on because even though we are very careful in our planning a lot of times the information on our GPS is not updated for these terrible roads. I have to agree with you. We love South Carolina the best and usually spend two months in the winter there. Keep up the great work.
Currently living in Connecticut and I couldn't agree more. My brother in law actually had a big branch fall out of a tree and spear right through his camper at Burlingame State Park. Luckily no one got hurt but the state refused to pay for the damages.
I grew up in SoCal, joined the Army at age 18 and left CA for good, The only reason I have to go back is to visit where my Dads ashes was spread. I have been in 49 out of the 50 states Due to most of my working life I spent being a OTR Truck Driver. Now Days the Gulf Coast of Mississippi is my home. and I basiclly travel the Midwest and southeast part of the country.
Thanks for this list. Being that I'm from NH originally from CT, as kids growing up we use to go to Burlingame State Park .. When you mentioned that it brought back so many memories. and Yes agree White mountains is a must, especially in the fall. Speaking of CT, Kent Falls is a beautiful place to checkout as well. camping growing up in an area I loved and rather favor to is American Legion State Forest in CT, and the Farmington River. Though I'm not an RV'r in the traditional way, I have been living the nomadic life since early 2017 in a converted cargo trailer and Loving it. Safe travels and maybe will meet somewhere down the road.
The campground lobby is still working to get the states of South Dakota and Iowa to close all their Rest Areas, and I wouldn't put it past them to make Nebraska type laws so people are forced to go to their campgrounds.
I don’t have an RV but you guys are so cool to learn from. I’ve traveled in my Prius many many times and thought of owning an RV so I’m gathering information for my future self.
Thank you! We started learning by watching every UA-cam video there was at time - a lot of good info and also a ton of bad info. After a while you learn to decipher between the two 😀
It's not just the parkways and tolls in NY, but the very low bridges all over eastern Long Island. Very tricky visiting the wife's family in East Hampton.
@@liferedesigned wife and I have been doing this for almost 10 years and worked off and on until fully retired recently. We left NC and now in Arizona. We have 2 sons in Cali and a daughter in NC so we will full time with Thousand Trails and with new solar, LTVA.
Really enjoyed your list, also re-enforces my desire to not head back out East with our RV. I'm glad we got a chance to see many of the New England states with our teardrop camper before hitting the road fulltime. Wander On- Kyle and Michelle
Yep, our kids still live in CT, so we can't avoid it. There are very few places to camp, so their prices are out of this world. Always drains our bank accounts but have to visit our grandkids. And yes. the traffic is horrible, and people drive like they are looking for an early grave.

@@liferedesigned I’m looking at a cruise also or at least a caravan with support. I’m a solo female and 76 and worry about breakdowns and health issues.
CA is not my favorite state and I don't have any plans to RV there. But our personal worst is New York. So many bad roads and campgrounds. Also some crazy road laws with vehicle restrictions.
I am from the Salem/Peabody MA area and I didn't know about Winter Island Park. Now I HAVE TO check it out! It is my destiny. And you are my inspiration.
LOL, there is a video in our campground reviews playlist about that place - such a great experience! we had some of the best pizza in our lives there also!
Nebraska's camping restriction surprised me especially as there's so much space and also because it's away from the heavy governance coasts. I would list plains states like Iowa and Kansas for the lack of things to do, but Nebraska is my top 'surprising state' in this regard and it's on my bucket list to visit ( but not in an RV ).
@@liferedesigned I am curious if it applies to things like Harvest Hosts and mooch-docking. Does it absolutely have to be on a commercial campground site ? What about BLM land ?
@@Fat_Cat_747Nebraska does not have any BLM land. Also we have never had any issues with any overnights in our rv in Nebraska and we also live in Nebraska. I don’t think this law is enforced here.
@@kathyvossler4626 Thanks. It may be the law is one of those legal situations where it is there to be called on with unofficial discretion if a problem is perceived i.e. there is a concrete provision there to be used if there is some kind of suspicion that couldn't otherwise be acted upon.
Watching that huge Palmetto Bug on Bob's sleeve. Bob was oblivious because he's concentrating on getting this needed info out. he liked your T-Shirt Bob but eventually flew away.
I'm from Baton Rouge (live a couple towns away now) and work there...the eastbound part of I-10 after crossing the Mississppi is one big cluster. That interchange going to the right to continue on I-10 is always bottlenecked due to the poor design (going from 3 to 1 lane and having to get over so you don't have to almost immediately exit after taking that right...used to be two lanes, but someone thought it would be a great idea to take one of those lanes away). Glad I live east of BR and don't have to cross that bridge.
Firstly, we NEVER said Cailfornia sucks - we reported simply what many RVer's polled complained about - Speed laws, Highest gas prices in the country etc. In fact, we mentioned everyone should visit the coast at least once. That aside. Places like LA, San Francisco & San Diego along with a few others may be places to avoid as an RVer due to the high crime rates, homeless camps and the like that have been heavily reported on. Always good to hear someone with "State Pride" as long as they get their facts straight. Safe Travels, especially in CA
Live in California you must also stay in right two lanes with trucks. Unwritten rule usually CHP won’t give you a ticket if you’re towing if you stay at 62 mph. Most trucks on second to last lane travel at that speed.
We've been living fulltime and offgrid in our RV for 8 years and 8 months in the western states and we never tow faster than 55 unless we're on a downhill grade and don't want to use our brakes enough to slow down and grab a lower gear. And I'll suggest that anyone towing faster than that is an accident waiting to happen. It's the law in CA and if it's good enough for 12% of the country's population, it's good enough for me -- wherever I might be. I haven't seen a trailer accident yet (online or in person) that wasn't caused by newbies driving too fast for their experience and equipment. Where the hell are they going in such a hurry anyway?
You will find that the "10 year rule" is mostly BS that UA-camrs pull out of the hat every so often for clicks. Any park that we have been to has never refused a rig simply because of age. There are some Super High End Resorts that may but they are few and far between. When in doubt, call ahead and offer pictures of your rig, unless it is falling apart and held together with duct tape, you will be fine!
RI Bob it's the Charlstown Breachway ! Probably one of the most unique camping spots you could find, fishing, crabbing and a beautiful ocean facing beach.
It sure is! I caught that post edit - not exactly sure why I said Breezeway instead of Breachway - my parents used to own property there. Old age is catching up to me !

I was just in south Carolina 4 days ago Beaufort SC. Now in Brooksville fla. Spent a day in naples fla, heading to North Carolina for two days then back home to Pennsylvania. All excellent stops for us
You would know better than I would since we don’t live there - is your state law enforced more at rest areas? Walmart may have certain allowances as it is private property and can host for a few hours?
I hear more and more walmart stores are permanently banning overnight parking because people are being disrespectful and disobeying the policies for overnight parking for rvers, trashing the parking lot, being very loud, etc.
Nebraska has a large number of wildlife management areas that allow camping for up to 14 days for free. I posted an earlier reply about the statute never being enforced (I have never heard of it). Retired LEO, 35 years in Nebraska.
@@JamesBairdJr Yes, these would all be a dry camping situation, but open to camp for sure. I'm in Lincoln and we have a few around us - rare to see a camper, but I have seen some.
All depends on the locations. As a whole though - yes we see so many things on the road from disrespectful people - Not just RVer's though - a couple we talked to said it was bad Truckers as well - one sited finding numerous urine bottles everywhere
Oh gosh thanks for reminding the squeezed butt hole in the tunnel on the Boston City what was that I-95? Going to New Hampshire. Oh God that was close like a cave in Kansas City
well ben a long haul trucker, many of your fellow RVer's ruined it for people like you at rest areas because they want to take up 2or 3 truck spaces ( 1 on each side) so they can pull out their wings I think they are called .I have had been asked to move my truck so they could have the extra space which I said No and not always in a nice manor
Have to be careful with that as not all do- Willington rest areas on 84 for example don’t. If I remember correctly, the only one with a year round dumps station is Danbury as the others are only available April 30th - November 1st.
Michigan has some great campgrounds, both UP &lower. Many state parks are great but are mostly electric only; have to fill up your tank & use the dump station before you leave. . . .
I am a recently retired Nebraska Law Enforcement Officer of 35 years. Worked for one of the largest agencies in the state. Never have I heard of the statute you refer to, and I never have heard of anyone enforcing something similar. Some areas will post no overnight parking, but it isn’t enforced otherwise.
Good to know it isn't enforced, Maybe it is one of those laws that sit on the books as a "just in case law" - there are quite a few counties in Washington State that have similar laws on the books but we hear that enforcement is pretty n/a. Thanks for the info!
You should just call ahead and check with the Walmart manager before assuming you can overnight there in any state, not only Nebraska. People putting slides out, grilling out and leaving trash behind is what has ruined Walmart overnighting. I went to a local Walmart to shop and overnight campers had totally trashed the parking lot. Disrespect for private property is horrible. A business should not have to clean up after RVers.
People driving the houses on wheels should be going 55 mph anyway. California is very friendly for boondocking inland and beautiful. The gas prices are horrible though.
So Calif is the worst, with taxes and fuel prices aside, it’s the roads. I don’t know where the road tax money went but it didn’t go for road repair. If you’re going north from Los Angeles to northern Calif, then your only choices is I-5 and Hwy 99. They are so bad, I gurantee that something will break or fall off your rig. You’ve been warned.
@@jabreck1934 are you familiar with Route 78 in RI - figured I would ask you 🤡 since you find it so funny that I wouldn’t know of every single road in the country. WOW! you must be a legend every where you go that you know all
The rest stops are some of the worst in the country. I am from Calif, now live in TN. We have beautiful rest areas, same for surrounding states. Why Calif rest stops are so awful, when the taxes are sky high?
Long history living in CA, moved east 20 years ago. CA has a really bad habit of pulling money from the Highway Fund to pay for whatever pet project some legislator or the Governor needs money for. Then Caltrans spends money like a drunk sailor on anything and everything but road construction, now the state is broke because of all the handouts so buckle up folks, the roads and rest areas aren't going to get any better any time soon CA.
If we had competent gun laws you wouldn't have to worry. Your right to own a gun should come with some responsibilities. It's 2024, people who can't bother to use turn signal while driving for some reason think they're gonna be ready for a gun battle.
@@Itsaboutthejouney Actually thanks for proving my point about Florida and High gas prices AZ average is $3.54 per gallon - Florida average is $3.53 per gallon Colorado average is $3.39 per gallon WY average gas price is $3.28 per gallon MT average gas price is $3.50 per gallon ID average gas price is $3.59 per gallon Meanwhile, SC is currently at $3.10, Georgia is $3.32, Alabama is $3.15 - so yes, comparing to neighboring states again, Florida is high on gas prices. In fact, Florida boasts the highest gas prices in the southeast.
I follow your channel, I believe you have an interesting point of view on many subjects, and most of the time I agree with you, but in this case I’m not agree with you about Florida… It shouldn’t even be on the list.
When we do these lists, something to keep in mind is that they are almost entirely viewer based responses with VERY little of our personal rankings. All we do, is add whatever experience we have had with that subject. For example, with Florida limiting rest area stops to 3 hours by law and very little other places to rest overnight (Walmart's in particular due to many cities ordinances) it does make it difficult to travel through, especially for older drivers (our core demographic is 55 -64) As for us, we usually drive straight through, so we don't have that problem. Any state that restricts the amount of rest for safe driving should be on this list in our opinion but we would love to hear why you feel it shouldn't be on this list - is there something you can share that other viewers may have missed that makes RV travel in Florida better?
@@liferedesigned On reality as Floridian I can tell you that most of the times as you know people really exaggerate, I had never seen the 3 hours been enforced, in a matter of fact I’d seen RV’s for days on rest stops, and I know because I stopped back on the same place on my way back for a trip and the same RV is still there, about the Walmart’s it depends also of the Manager, sometimes they use the city as an excuse to avoid people overnight. Even though I understand that with the massive amount of RVer’s visiting Florida every year some rules are needed. One of the great things of Florida is the diversity of the campgrounds options, for full timers or weekend warriors or any combination in between, now I have a suggestion for you and I know this would be controversial, I would love to make a survey about Who are the worst Rver’s in the country, I’d been in park’s where my Neighboor believes he is entitled to trash the place and then go online and talk terrible about the campground or our Estate…. I know you seen it too.
First of all, you’re NOT SUPPOSED to drive over 55 mph when towing for safety reasons - in ANY state! And 2nd if you think California is a bad state for RVing, then you’re doing it wrong! I have Thousand Trails and I ❤ camping all over that state in their parks - from San Diego in the south, up to Gold County in the north - with the desert and the mountains in between..
Actually, YOU ARE WRONG about state laws regarding towing. California is THE ONLY STATE with such a low towing speed limit when towing: For example, the maximum speed for towing in the following states - Alaska - 65 Arizona - 75 Arkansas - 75 Florida - 70 Georgia - 70 Utah - 80 Texas - 85 Wisconsin - 70 Wyoming - 80 Most states range 65-80 mph. For a complete list by state - check out this link and be informed: rvnerds.com/resources/speed-limits-and-towing/ Now that we corrected that - We were actually pretty clear about California - aside from the ridiculous gas prices and taxes, we HIGHLY recommended visiting California by RV, despite our viewers putting it on this list.
I didn't say it was against the law, I said it's not safe to do so - between the different tire speed ratings, braking systems limitations, weight of towable, etc, staying at 55 mph hedges against fliping on to it's side.
We were simply replying to your comment that "Your not supposed to drive over 55 in any state" and that statement was false - no worries. As a UA-camr yourself, you know that we can only respond to comments as they are written. As for your statement about not being safe to tow over 55 - that may hold true for small utility trailers BUT the general consensus is actually 65 with towable RV's. This is why most states are around that speed as law. As full timer's we can attest that 65mph has never been an issue and is actually the preferred speed as it keeps up with the flow of traffic. While RVs rarely flip over, wind speeds as low as 15-20 miles per hour (MPH) can affect them while driving. Driving in winds near 30 MPH or higher might not be safe for some RVs at highway speeds. RVs usually only flip during extreme weather events like hurricanes or tornadoes. We have never heard of an RV flipping over simply by following speed limits set by the states - You would need to have other factors. We don't write the laws, we just repeat and follow them
Amazing! The Lovely Bride and I are not RVers....But we haven't lost anything in any of the states you mentioned. Hell, once we managed to get out of The Peoples Republic of Maryland and back home to our beloved home state of South Carolina only TLB has made a trip up there to visit her son. As for me....Well I refuse to go north of the NC-VA line or south of Georgia because Florida is basically California East. We ARE thinking about buying either a good quality tent and camping gear or a "pop up" camper trailer for occasional weekend getaways in the near future.
Stayed in both and never had a problem with being an RV'er - some of the best free camping with full hookups we have found on the road are at Oklahoma Casinos in pretty decent areas.
Welcome to SC! Our favorite state! RI only came in second due to the restrictions of CT on upgrades to campgrounds - it was closed and we actually bickered about it lol. Congrats on the retirement!
I think the comment “Politics aside “ was NOT necessary, our Country is in a very volatile position when politics come into it. Regarding the review of California
I will add this, had I not said that line - the comment section would have blown up in regards to "bad politics" in California. Ironically, the only person that had a problem or note about that was you - 46k views ... food for thought
As a CA native, the thing I'm noticing on the main highways is that hardly anyone goes the posted speed limit nowadays. If its posted 65 people go 75. If the speed limit is 70, people whiz by at 80 or more. Never thought I'd feel slow going 70mph!
Oh yah, don't even get me started on CA drivers. I was snow birding there a couple of winters ago and driving some winding canyon roads where speed limit was 40-45 and most people were whizzing by going 50-60. Yikes! Whatever happened to CA being laid back? Stop and smell the roses folks, you have a beautiful state.
really 55 is your problem, we should show you the blood that has spilled the streets from motorhome windows exploded and bodies not seat belted out on the ground, also its for trucks too, but the real law is do not hold traffic up maintain speed no passing with trailers. and if you're republican stay in Florida or Texas. I have so much ptsd with as much blood i have seen on hwy 99 in California, it needs to be 40mph its so old and not made of today's trucks.
Actually RV's are NOT illegal in Hawaii. Proof of this is that there are quite a few RV parks in Hawaii. It is cost prohibitive to bring an RV to the islands but can and has been done. In Haleakala, RVs are able to stay at the Kipahulu Campground

Great points!
East coast traffic, bad roads with congestion and construction and tolls make driving horrible and expensive. Plus the east coast is unfriendly for boondocking.
Pros and cons to both coasts for sure
im a big boondocker, georgia and the carolinas are ok, NE all pay to play,
Nice vid! Thanks life redesigned.
Thank you so much for the shout out! Glad you enjoyed
If driving through Nebraska, you can ALWAYS park at Cracker Barrel since it's considered private property, but get permission first.
great tip!
Hi Linda! Thank you for commenting and for the kind words! 😀
Currently living in Connecticut and I couldn't agree more. My brother in law actually had a big branch fall out of a tree and spear right through his camper at Burlingame State Park. Luckily no one got hurt but the state refused to pay for the damages.
Unfortunately most State Parks don’t pay for damages, we hear this quite a lot!
Why should they. Its a tree.
That’s why you have insurance.
Great Tips! We see converted cargo trailers quite a bit and are HUGE fans! safe travels!
Granted, I'm not an rver, but I'm under the impression that the midwest and out west is the most rv friendly than any other areas of the US.
Absolutely!
After a while you learn to decipher between the two 😀
Great info, sitting in PA right now.. love the scenery and the history but the gas prices here are some of the highest we've see all summer.
GasBuddy helps us a TON in PA when we were at Timothy Lake South - gas prices had huge swings
It's not just the parkways and tolls in NY, but the very low bridges all over eastern Long Island. Very tricky visiting the wife's family in East Hampton.

We have one of those low level bridges in Delaware Ohio, we call it the can opener and it is now on google maps!
Good grief! That’s just scary!
New England is just horrible for RVs due to all the tolls.
We could also add Texas and Florida to the toll list for sure!
We don’t drive more than 60 mph no matter what on freeways.

Yep, our kids still live in CT, so we can't avoid it. There are very few places to camp, so their prices are out of this world. Always drains our bank accounts but have to visit our grandkids. And yes. the traffic is horrible, and people drive like they are looking for an early grave.

We were quite surprised by that state law as well - we actually looked this up numerous times for clarity before this video - crazy for sure!
@@liferedesigned I am curious if it applies to things like Harvest Hosts and mooch-docking. Does it absolutely have to be on a commercial campground site ? What about BLM land ?
BLM would be federal so most likely is exempt. Not sure about HH and what that would be considered.

Ive always heard that Interstate 10 through Louisianna is a nightmare.
Absolutely the worst stretch of road in the south if we are being fair!
Thanks for telling people California sucks. More spaces for us to camp in the most beautiful camping spots anywhere in the entire country.
CA hauling a trailer speed limit 55 while cars run 70??? Bet that causes accidents.. i think 65 w camper feels about right
That is the speed that we stick to when towing 65 feels right to us!
Live in California you must also stay in right two lanes with trucks. Unwritten rule usually CHP won’t give you a ticket if you’re towing if you stay at 62 mph. Most trucks on second to last lane travel at that speed.
P.S. most cars in carpool and #1 fast lane travel 75 mph. # 2, 65-70 mph be safe travel in truck lane.
Is there an RV park "black list" that lists the parks who use the 10 year rule?
You will find that the "10 year rule" is mostly BS that UA-camrs pull out of the hat every so often for clicks. Any park that we have been to has never refused a rig simply because of age. There are some Super High End Resorts that may but they are few and far between. When in doubt, call ahead and offer pictures of your rig, unless it is falling apart and held together with duct tape, you will be fine!
RI Bob it's the Charlstown Breachway ! Probably one of the most unique camping spots you could find, fishing, crabbing and a beautiful ocean facing beach.

I live in Nebraska and see RVs staying overnight in Walmarts. Also semis.
You would know better than I would since we don’t live there - is your state law enforced more at rest areas? Walmart may have certain allowances as it is private property and can host for a few hours?
I hear more and more walmart stores are permanently banning overnight parking because people are being disrespectful and disobeying the policies for overnight parking for rvers, trashing the parking lot, being very loud, etc.

well ben a long haul trucker, many of your fellow RVer's ruined it for people like you at rest areas because they want to take up 2or 3 truck spaces ( 1 on each side) so they can pull out their wings I think they are called .I have had been asked to move my truck so they could have the extra space which I said No and not always in a nice manor
You will find that most that act that way are not true RVer's for sure!
Nobody with an RV has any business putting out their Slides in a Rest Area. Law Enforcement will usually address the issue if they see it.
One mitigating factor of CT is they have free dump stations at the rest stops.
Have to be careful with that as not all do- Willington rest areas on 84 for example don’t. If I remember correctly, the only one with a year round dumps station is Danbury as the others are only available April 30th - November 1st.
Alabama has this too. Very handy.
Michigan has some great campgrounds, both UP &lower. Many state parks are great but are mostly electric only; have to fill up your tank & use the dump station before you leave. . . .
We were in Michigan last fall - state bird also seemed to be the mosquitoes lol - such a beautiful state though!
It is a beautiful state. So much to see.
I double dog dare you to come moochdock at our place in Nebraska 😊
🤣🤣
What does “moochdock” mean? please explain.
@@janicecrockett1400 Agree, a few bad apples ruin it for the rest.
People driving the houses on wheels should be going 55 mph anyway. California is very friendly for boondocking inland and beautiful. The gas prices are horrible though.
Yes they are - totally understand why they make every list
So Calif is the worst, with taxes and fuel prices aside, it’s the roads. I don’t know where the road tax money went but it didn’t go for road repair. If you’re going north from Los Angeles to northern Calif, then your only choices is I-5 and Hwy 99. They are so bad, I gurantee that something will break or fall off your rig. You’ve been warned.
Interestingly enough, every mention of California never included anything about road conditions. Will keep that in mind!

Florida DOES NOT have high gas prices. I suppose if you only go to Chevron or Shell stations, then it is expensive. $3.30/gal is not outrageous.
It is when compared to current SC prices of only $2.85/ gal or Texas where it was as low as $2.50/ gal.
@@liferedesigned don't come to AZ, UT, CO, WY, MT, ID. Gas out here is nowhere near that amount.
@@Itsaboutthejouney Actually thanks for proving my point about Florida and High gas prices
AZ average is $3.54 per gallon - Florida average is $3.53 per gallon
Colorado average is $3.39 per gallon
WY average gas price is $3.28 per gallon
MT average gas price is $3.50 per gallon
ID average gas price is $3.59 per gallon
Meanwhile, SC is currently at $3.10, Georgia is $3.32, Alabama is $3.15 - so yes, comparing to neighboring states again, Florida is high on gas prices. In fact, Florida boasts the highest gas prices in the southeast.

@@liferedesigned you’re welcome!
California is THE ONLY STATE with such a low towing speed limit when towing:
For example, the maximum speed for towing in the following states -
Alaska - 65
Arizona - 75
Arkansas - 75
Florida - 70
Georgia - 70
Utah - 80
Texas - 85
Wisconsin - 70
Wyoming - 80
Most states range 65-80 mph. For a complete list by state - check out this link and be informed: rvnerds.com/resources/speed-limits-and-towing/
Now that we corrected that - We were actually pretty clear about California - aside from the ridiculous gas prices and taxes, we HIGHLY recommended visiting California by RV, despite our viewers putting it on this list.
We don't write the laws, we just repeat and follow them
Hi Oliver 🐕
New Hampshire has better camping opportunities than Vermont does. 🤷♀️
Both states run similar. Vermont does lend itself to be more RV friendly, especially upstate.
I've been to California and no one drives the speed limit. If you drive the speed limit, you'll cause a fatal accident
As a CA native, the thing I'm noticing on the main highways is that hardly anyone goes the posted speed limit nowadays.
If its posted 65 people go 75. If the speed limit is 70, people whiz by at 80 or more. Never thought I'd feel slow going 70mph!
we felt the same way in Texas!
