    Karina, I just came back to this video, as I am planning on exactly this kind of pockets with French seams. I watched this some years ago, but it is always good to refresh my memory. And Bravo to you for adding the right words to your titles, it is very easy to find the correct video just by searching on YT. Thanks a lot for your work. 🎉

    I just followed your video with my Tempo Sundress. I did Princess Seams at the top (loved these even though I have small busts) and the pocket and French Seams on the skirt are just wonderful. Never again will I sew in seam pockets any other way…. Love, love. I have been sewing for many years and find your videos inspirational. Thank you, Karina!!!

    I love that you take a wonderfully drafted pattern and show us how to take it one step further to be beautiful on the both the inside and outside. I know not everyone one finds this necessary, important or perhaps just doesn’t have the time. But for anyone on a sewing journey that wants to take their sewing up a notch I can always rely on your expertise to help me along. A sincere, Thank you!❤️

    I forgot to mention that i am "harvesting" pockets from a faded pair of linen pants to put on a tunic, and I also had the little horizontal snips after removing the pockets. Your interfacing pieces behind the little snips is a great tip, as I encounter that problem more often than one might expect, haha.

    Greetings & question must a strip of interfacing be used always to created inseam pockets or can the pocket be sewn without the strip of interfacing? ....&...Please do a complete tutorial on how to sew a little girls dress with french seams & pockets.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 роки тому

      You can sew the pockets without the interfacing but you risk the opening saging and stretching out over time. I show good techniques in my videos without shortcuts because I want my clothes to last and look good. As for your request: I don’t take video requests and I’m especially not going to sew a little girl’s dress because I don’t have a little girl to sew for. What I’ve shown here is exactly the same you’d do for a little girls dress, just smaller.

    Hi there, thank you for this tutorial, I had been struggling with the “classical” French seams pocket technique.
    I’ve just tested it on a shirt dress, and I must have missed something: there is still a raw edge where the lining of the pocket and the front piece of the garment are sewn together. What am I doing wrong?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  2 роки тому

      I don’t know what step you might have done differently. There definitely is no raw areas in this technique. I suggest practicing with scraps first and repeating the steps.

    • @trumpetess
      @trumpetess Рік тому

      I had this same issue when I did mine. It's the seam allowance after you clip and fold the little rectangle part over, between the pocket lining and the front skirt piece. What I ended up doing was trimming down that seam allowance and top stitching around it to enclose it, so it won't work if you don't want top-stitching. Otherwise, you could do a flat felled seam against the pocket lining so it doesn't show on the front piece. I couldn't figure out when this little bit was addressed in the video, but it's a really wonderful tutorial otherwise, and I'm here referencing it again for my next dress.
