you are my kind of traveler. Thank you. This is exactly what I needed to see/know for my upcoming trip.I love off the beaten path not touristy stuff.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video. I hope you have a great time on your trip. Thanks for watching
My son was stationed in Fairbanks for three years, and he enjoyed living in Alaska. He said the experience was one of a kind.
Wow that's awesome fantastic 👏 yes Alaska 🇺🇲 😅😊😂❤
Having seen the northern lights in person, I know video and pics usually don't do it justice. They are simply amazing!! Great video my friend!
Thanks again Lance. I’ll definitely miss the northern lights when we eventually leave here. I’ll even miss the long winters. There’s nothing like a 6 hour long sunset in the winter.
@@DustinFaddis LOL...yeah, I agree. And in the summer it stays light for most of the day...we used to play basketball outside at 11 at night.
@@lancematzke9132 you can get exhausted quick in the summer with the long days. We’ve been out fishing after midnight lol
Nice video.
My bucket list is to see the Northern lights and I hear Fairbanks is a great spot to see it. I'm definitely going to plan a trip this Winter to check it out.
It’s one of the best places in the world to see them. On days where they’re really going strong you can actually hear them. Give yourself about a week out here. If it’s cloudy when you come here that could mess everything up so check weather. They have little yurts here with a clear roof so you can lay down and look at them from the warmth of your room. You’ll have to comment again and let me know how your trip went. Thanks for watching Kevin.
@@DustinFaddis I understand the Alaska Hiway is open years round. Do people continue to travel during winter months?
@@garbinator09 yes it’s open year round. People do travel the ALCAN in the winter but it’s only recommended for people that are well prepared with snow tires, chains and lots of supplies and extra fuel
@@DustinFaddis - Maybe businesses would be closed as well I take it. Thanks Dustin.
@@garbinator09 definitely, they recommend to stop at every gas station you see in the winter. That’s every 1/3 to 1/2 tank. Just in case you get to one that’s closed or didn’t receive fuel.
It’s worth mentioning the restaurants have very long waits and very steep prices!
Thanks! I look forward to experiencing all fairbanks has to offer when i relocate to AK
There’s lots of things to do up here if you like the outdoors. I recently made another video about when to travel to Alaska
thank you for making this! :)
Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
my dream is to be able to go to alaska and be able to see the northern lights
A friends grandparents homesteaded Chena Hot Springs and built the original resort. The family still owns much of the land surrounding the resort.
Wow that’s pretty cool. Do you live in the area as well? We just took some family there last night.
Nice video again. Great info, would like to ask if u have any information about the drive to Artic circle sign? Is it possible to drive ourself to there during end of December? Thank you
Hi,
I wonder if we can still get into the Castner ice cave. I've heard that it's collapsing.
I’m not sure. I’ll be driving down and seeing for myself in March. I have family coming to town
Is there such a thing aa snow shoe rentals in Fairbanks? Or nearby?
Do you have a link to look up the glacier tours?
No sorry, there aren’t any tours there as far as I know. You just drive down to castner creek and then hike upstream until you get to the cave. You can Google it and find stereo by step instructions. If you have any questions just let me know. I wouldn’t go until December when everything’s nice and frozen
Hello, when is a good time of the year to see the northern lights? June? Winter? (I want to visit fairbanks in june) I would love to visit Alaska now that I live in WA much closer than NYC. Thanks in advanced
Hello, great question. The best time to see the northern lights is September through April. The problem with June is that it’s light out almost 24hrs. It would still be possible to see a faint glow in the sky at around 2am but you probably wouldn’t even know what you were seeing. For the best chances of seeing the lights I would say make a special trip up in the winter or early spring. They have amazing yurts near Fairbanks that have see through ceilings so you can lay down in warmth as you watch the sky. Thanks for watching Carolina. You’ll have to let us know how your trip goes.
@@DustinFaddis thanks alot for the information. Very helpful! We will push the trip. Can't wait. 🙂🙂
@@carolinaortega2625 great to hear Carolina. I’m excited for you 😊 ... and you’re welcome
I have a 5 year old and we were looking into snow boarding and a couple of outdoor activities with him. He also loves polar bears. Do you recommend Fairbanks or Anchorage? We are visiting winter of this year.
Well, polar bear are actually really dangerous. You wouldn’t want to be near one. That being said, their actual really far north so you won’t even see them in Fairbanks. I personally recommend anchorage if you can only see one. There are so many things to see and do around there. Check alyeska for skiing, it’s just outside of anchorage and the views are amazing.
Darlene, me and my wife went to Alaska with our 5 years old boy, It was an amazing experience, to tell you the truth I'm glad we made it in winter, the view of the mountains cover with snow is fantastic, Anchorage is so beautiful surround by mountains and you will see many mosses around, we also drove to the arctic circle from Fairbanks, we split the trip, the first days in Fairbanks and after in anchorage, I recommend you to go in winter, if you go in summer is like to be in one of our normal states but winter makes it so amazing, we went in January 2024 and are planning to go again, we saw the northern light in Wasilla, is a town close to anchorage, also you can do everything by your self and will be cheaper, we didn't go in a tour, feel free to contact us if you need some advice, God bless.
How far out do you have to go to see the northern lights from Fairbanks?
You can actually see the lights from Fairbanks. You just normally see them a little better when you get away from the city lights
what's the best time of the year to see the northern lights?
Anytime in the winter is great. They say October through April but the nights are longer November through February. My favorite time to go watch is around November because it’s not too cold yet. There’s also apps you can download that will tell you how strong they will be that night. Aurora is one of those apps. Thanks for watching Carl.
I was trying to convince my wife to go ice fishing with me near Fairbanks. Then we watched this vid, it did not help my case
Haha, my bad. Just make sure you’re in a shack or a shanty. She’ll be plenty warm
my dream is to be able to go to alaska and be able to see the northern lights
The drone shot over the half frozen River was awesome.
Thanks for watching
That shot was taken about half way there from Fairbanks.
