I have this axe, the screws I just can’t deal with, it breaks every couple sessions. The screws would go loose as well, I kept needing to put it back together but the axe has a very nice flare to it. It’s a grade 3 bolt, I haven’t tried it yet but you could try a grade 8 bolt on it, I think it would last longer.
I have enjoyed the Saxon, we actually had a bolt failure on the vario, it was a small issue that was easy to fix, but it is considered a break. The Saxon has held up perfect with no breaking.
Hello Aermotors ! I have an aermotor windmill too! This is oak in the red oak variety which is always a joy to split, white oak is not a joy to split as it’s stringy. This tree had probably been dead for 5 years but I can tell you with confidence that a living red oak would be equally as easy to split!
How many cords of wood would come from the tree that was cut down? I know it is contingent on the tree size, but based on your experiences, do you have some general guidelines you can share?
I get the feeling this family never went cold in the winter. Next time use bigger logs cuz the logs were clearly outgunned. That's some beautiful red oak there. Splits with a thunderous pop. Worst splitting video because these guys were essentially taking candies from a baby! I want to see people huffing and puffing! Definitely could tell you boys have taken a couple of swings before.
They have held up well , the Saxon has held up the best , the vario had a bolt break in the head , but that’s not too surprising since it’s not as rigid of a joint as the Saxon.
These are certainly nice axes/mauls but you guys sure do know how to swing 'em too!👍 Thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching! We appreciate it.
Splitting axe and maul are not universal terms.
its great that you are back
Well done, dudes
Thank you!
Give us another legendary grip video, brotheeeer!
Marco Buhl let me see what I can do! I just recently was able to log back in here and post videos!

We had this same issue with the vario , the saxon is still going strong, if it had a slightly longer handle it would be even better.
Great work Gents. Which is your favorite?

How dry/seasoned was this wood? Seriously beautiful wood and splitter. We dont get oak like that here in Utah.

@@BuzzWorthyLife Haha that's awesome! Okay good info, thanks for the reply! No issues with the alen head bolts 4 years later?

I would say this is a 1-1.5 cord tree. I typically burn 3-4 cords a winter depending on how cold it gets.
@@BuzzWorthyLife thank you
Looks like a great splitting axe but I think the wood helps

I can attest to the quality of Helko, my axe is still in very good shape despite heavy use.
Get work guys!
Thank you!
Is it worth the 200 dollar price tag?
Yes, I really like it. I have had the axe for a full season of splitting and it still looks like new. It’s holding up well.
@@BuzzWorthyLife which one? Saxon or vario?
Which one do yall like best? I have been trying to decide
