Hey everyone! Thanks so much for watching, I appreciate your support and comments so so much, and I hope this helps a few people get out into the woods! If you'd like to get early access to videos like these head over to my Patreon where for as little as $1 a month you can get early access to videos like these! www.patreon.com/blindthistle Also just a note from Maggie and I: Something that we weren't able to include in this video as a part of the Leave No Trace Principles is that you don’t need to geotag or describe in depth on social media where you camp. This only encourages over usage. Usage of public lands has increased substantially. Not everyone who learns about where you go will go there and treat the land with as much LNT knowledge or care as you do. Often this is how the most damaged to our public lands occurs. Avoid oversharing to keep wild places wild. (I'll be making a video about this specifically a little later as well.) Thanks so much! See you next week with some resources for finding free camping!
Speaking of the desert, the drastic temperature differences between the highs and lows can make 90* feel cold if the highs are 20 to 40 degrees higher. I am jealous of y'alls journeys. Ride safe!
Wow, I remember watching this video when it was released. Apparently I didn't click like back then. Done. When I saw this before I was learning about camping and hadn't done it much. Well now that I've been camping several times I'm really getting so much from this video. Great tips. I always stop by the Ranger Station or HQ just to say hi and pick up a few tips. If you carry it in, carry it out.
This is so helpful! I’m taking off for 6 weeks this summer with the intention to disperse camp as much as possible. Only issue is will be on my cruiser. I’ve taken it off road when needed but have been completely stuck before and unable to get myself out on my own so I can’t go to deep off roads to fully disperse camp.
Thanks Eric! It can be hard with a cruiser, but not impossible! I would look for BLM campsites, the roads can be 50/50 but are often times more taken care of than Forest Service roads. I hope your trip is awesome!!
I went out trail riding the other day and found a ton of pallets and trash. The area is near a populated town and has riverfront access. I think its local fishermen that drag that stuff out there for firewood then leave it when they're done. I plan to return with a bigger vehicle and pick up some of it. Nothing is worse than having a nice scenic area then find busted up pallets, nails, and bottles laying around everywhere. Thanks for the info, I never knew about the not being visible from the roadside.
Yes!! It's so sad to find natural places that have just been thrashed by people who clearly don't give a damn. I commend you for making an effort to clean them! I think if everyone made an effort just pick up a few pieces of trash everytime they went out our public lands would be much cleaner. (Not to mention a healthier respect for what happens when you leave trash about and how much it really does not break down lol )
The Mojave and other California desert locations are a popular dumping ground. Ride ten miles back on some single track and you find a pile of garbage and junk! WTF!! The effort it must have taken just to get it there. That particular pile did yield a little stuffed monkey that now rides with me
@@orangelion03 I grew up in the Mojave. I have since moved to Idaho and that is one thing I miss. Where I am at in Arizona, and riding my motorbike on BLM roads, you will often cross into rancher's land.
