I replaced my rod bearings 2 months into buying my M3 and they weren't even broken. Just as a preventative measure as suggested on the forums, never had a major issue with the car going on 70k miles since then. Then again I did my research on what potential major issues the E9x m3 might have, which you would think to do before buying ANY sports car.
I agree, knowing what you are getting into is key. Problem is buying a car like a Ferrari has no way to do this as often they come up with a model and it only runs for a 1 year or 2 year at a time
I have an 2017 X5 with the N55 and found this engine for that year has the same piston rods, bearings and engine mounts as the S55 taken from the F80 M3
Yup! Had one. Loved it for a year. A few drops of oil and I couldn't sell it fast enough. Only afterward did I find out about the rod bearings. Dodged the big one there!
Haha, totally right Thomas. Every M car has a future of massive financial committment tied to it. Fun, yes, expensive, yes. Hope you are having a great weekend.
@@romeosincere117 replaced with a 335i. Enjoyed that car for about a year and a half. Things started leaking with that, also. Sold that, got a Porsche. At least that doesn't leak
Great video. Please continue to buy used sports cars without doing research on potential issues and then make videos complaining that they aren’t as reliable as expected. Maybe an RX-7 next?
E90 M3 isn't the only V8 ///M3 in history, maybe for an ///M3 sedan ..E46 ///M3 GTR is the first ///M3 with a V8 and the E90 M3 is a more accessible vehicle or motor ..(to be more specific)
S55 have one singular problem that only happens when you modify or don’t maintain the car, b58/s58 are new but everyone loves the power and reliability out of them the only unreliable motors bmw has put out since the mid 2000s is the s68, s63, and the n54 and the e46 m3 motor had some issues as well but not as catastrophic as the others ever since the n55 was released bmw has been relatively reliable if you just do simple maintenance especially if you aren’t modifying your vehicle.
Just keep up with the maintenance and you’ll be fine. You can also always pick a people moving appliance instead, like a Corolla. P.S. some clever guy said one “ life’s too short to drive boring cars”. Cheers
Is there any other issues with e92 M3s because if it’s just rod bearings and throttle actuators then that’s pretty good. Adding oil does matter either I’m used to putting oil in my 335i
there actually pretty reliable just get one that has rod bearing and TAs already done, of course you’ll need to reseal gaskets and stuff, it’s a highly strung 4 liter that revs to 9k rpm
Wrong had my m3 for 4 years and still running strong of course I’ve done regular maintenance and preventative but if you guys never have experience with an m3 ownership than don’t talk at all most of these people talk about oh this and that or it’s I heard from this person if you never had one don’t speak on it 😂all cars have problems
Hi, I am looking too get my hands on one for an official review, but in short, heck yes, M2 Competition and M240i are amazing machine and true to the driving spirit. Worth a buy and holding onto especially in the light of the EV era.
@@ECPP awesome thanks. Now to another question as you have much more experience in the luxury dealership experience, what dealerships do you recommend in Alberta?

@thomashelm6931 when it comes to sports and super cars no one is on Porsche level. They're the toyota of luxury performance

You have no idea what you’re talking about🤣🤣

Thank you
The E90 ugh .. the beginning of the dark period for BMW, which we are currently still in. Reliability of a Yugo.
Absolutely

You serious my n52 is flawless
Porsche 911 PDK is unserviceable, you have to change the whole unit, starting at 30000$ for a faulty solenoid.
Yikes
Not without diligent research beforehand.
Yes
can you do w205 c43 problems?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the end tho
Lol, thanks
Your best friend is not the best of friends
Right?
listen to old scotty (kilmer)...avoid these fancy cars. Buy a lexus or acura instead.
Thanks for watching
Bmw is a rip off alway breaking
Absolutely

That's what happens when you buy before you research
Right?
Dont forget about the e46 gtr dat variation came with a v8
If you buy automatic instead of manual, you deserved every possible problem
cheers
Damn Mark... second time you got burned on a Beamer... you must like pain lol 😂😆😆
Haha, I have certainly tasted the wrath, lol
Mark, what's your opinion on the M240i Coupe?
I second this request. Been looking at the M240i for about 6 months now and I would love your opinion.
Same

I guess it’s best to do some research before purchasing? Never listen to friends. Lol. 😮
