Fabulous job on forging a Katana. The handle came out amazing too. You have a great eye for detail. Thanks for sharing this video. I really enjoyed watching it. I found it very relaxing and calming. Keep them coming. Be safe
@@kanishk5797 I mean for the length I'm looking for. I want a Japanese sword that is between the length of a katana and a wakizashi. Like the one he made in the video.
Because you didn't grab the biggest old Bering ... The katana was too small ... A master forged a longer one ... Greetings ... Make a bigger one katana plus the old Bering.....
Folding would weaken the steel and differential hardening doesn't make the spine any tougher. The reason Japanese smiths folded the steel they had was because it was low quality bloomery steel. The carbon content is inconsistent and is full of slag inclusions. Folding, compositing and differential hardening was just to compensate for the poor materials they had to work with. With crucible steel, there is no need for any of that and the forge welding would just allow scale and other impurities to incorporate, introducing failure points between the layers. Even differential hardening wouldn't make the steel any tougher in the spine. The toughness doesn't increase at lower heat treat temperature in bearing steel. It gets just as hard on the edge as a folded and differentially hardened high carbon steel and is also far tougher and far more flexible in the spine than the low carbon spine of a traditional katana. I wouldn't be surprised if the sword could bend nearly 90⁰ without taking a set. Bearing steel is pretty tough stuff if heat treated right.

Интересно как держит ударную нагрузку сталь и подшипника. Вероятно эта катана хрупкая
Wonderful and very beautiful work. Keep creating. The owner of this channel is also a welder. I hope that TABTI THB ELECTRONIC supports him.
