I know rap is very versatile but to me New York rap should sound like this. Once rap became more generalized it lost it's edge. West coast niggas had their culture and infused it into their music and the same goes for east coast, down south, and midwest artist too. I'm a Tennessean who has grown up listening to a lot of southern rappers. However in the early 90s my brother listened to a lot of east coast rappers which opened my eyes to the different viewpoints as a young child. I always appreciated him for doing that.
