I made this last week. Tonight I opened a jar and a jar of chicken from 2012 and had sweet and sour chicken over rice. We loved it! Thank you so much, Linda.
And I’m back to watch this again this year... your tutorials are the best
OK, Mama..... I might have to make you a video response and shout out and give this recipe a go!!!! Looks FANTASTIC! I am actually drooling here! hahaha I didnt see your link for the clear jel..... do you have a specific place you like to buy it from? someplace that you get credit for? if so, leave me a link and I will buy it through there! :D
And YES on the weight watcher points! that would be fantastic! even though I am pregnant now, I lost 68lbs on weight watchers by doing their point system, and will be headed back on it after baby is born. So that would be awesome!
OH I bet your kitchen smelled wonderful after opening up that canner. hahahahaha YUM!
I made this for dinner last night and canned 12 pint jars for future use. DELICIOUS!
Fyi, you can buy fresh ginger. Peel the whole thing, grade what you need. Then put the leftover in a baggie and freeze it. Pull out when you need. Lasts forever.
Hello Linda, Grandma CC here. I'm not sure if you know my gov't name (Martha) BUT I made this today. It is PHENOMENAL !! I also opened a jar of the sweet pumpkins pickles (your recipe) this weekend and those are PHENOMENAL also. I'll bet newer subscribers would love this. Not everyone look at the old video's. Just a thought.
Linda, I can't thank you enough for the videos you post up here. Thank you!
Hi Linda love to watch you cook. You are right to can the longest time of any ingredients! I have been canning for 50 yrs. and this is what my older canning books say to do! I have just recently gotten into the electric canner, mine is the Elete 13 function canner! I love it! 😀 have a wonderful fall. Be well... Nan
Just canned up a batch of this .... absolutely amazing. .. you rock!!!!
I love sweet and sour sauce but I have to have crunchy veggies so I think I'll make the sauce and then just add the vegies when I cook the meals, that way I can also use it as a dipping sauce for eggrolls too. thanks Linda for this great recipe.
Linda you have my mouth watering here. This is so easy and simple, who would of thought it lol. Thanks about the tip on the clear gel. I have everything to make this but clear Gel. So looks like this weekend sweet and sour is on the menu to can. Love ya and keep up the great videos.
Great video Linda. I seen both other videos and those were also very good. Love sweet and sour sauce
Could you do a tour of your pantry & storage area? You can a lot and I wandered how you are storing all of it.
I love this recipe ...I have canned this before and doubled Sues recipe. next time I will triple it cause I like to to quarts. Pints just aren't enough for us.. this is a great recipe. So quick when you are in a hurry for dinner just fry up your chicken strips cook your rice and grab a jar of sweet and sour sauce.. LOVE IT!
Thank you so much! we love this too:)
+Linda's Pantry I have also come to find that pints are not enough for my family, what kinda processing times for qts. i'm actually going to do pint and a half jars.
+Marjorie Eades
Sweet and Sour Sauce: 1 Tbsp. soy sauce 3 Tbsp. apple cider
vinegar 1/2 chopped onion 1 bell pepper 2 tsp. garlic 8 oz. tomato sauce 1/2
cup brown sugar 2 Tbsp. Clear Gel (non-instant) 1/2 cup water 1 Tbsp. minced
ginger Juice from a can of pineapple chunks (20 oz) Pineapple chunks Mix all
ingredients together except for pineapple chunks and cook over medium heat
until thickened. Add pineapple chunks and put into pint jars and process in a
pressure canner at 10 lbs. pressure for 25 minutes. This makes 2 pints. Note:
If you are not canning this and want to cook the sweet and sour sauce to eat
immediatley, cornstarch can be substituted for the Clear Gel. If you are
canning the sauce, Clear Gel must be used. QUART JARS I HAD 10 MINUTES. WORKS GREAT.
thanks for sharing another great canning idea.
One thing we have started doing, when we plan to open a jar or two for dinner the same day we can, is to use a tattler or a reused lid (marked) for the jars we plan to open right away. This saves precious 'one time use' lids for jars that go into the pantry.
I am so excited about this recipe! I just learned to canning. This will be a fantastic addition to my pantry! SOOOO EXCITED!
This is awesome thanks for sharing
I have this in the canner right now. Bravo, this is a great sauce! Having this tonight with dinner. Also, you were spot on the Clear-Jel amount.
that looks fantastic!! can't wait to see you trying some of this out!
I gave it a little bit more headspace. I thought it might swell like pie fill. I was correct!! Yey! This recipe is AMAZBALLS!! 😍
I will be making this recipe next weekend. I only can things that my family will eat. Sweet Sour Chicken is one of them. Chicken is on sale this week too. I enjoy watching your videos keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing!!! :)
Looks yummy!
Thanks for sharing and what a great idea!!
Thank you so much for this recipe! We had it for dinner tonight with a jar of chicken. It was so good. Thank you ma’am 🌸
When my girls were little i use to buy chicken tonight sweet and sour sauce for a quick weeknight dinner. Then they stopped selling it and i was so mad. I love i can have the convience back with even fresher products. Thank you.
So glad you got your all american canner.. its a priceless tool for those of us who can a lot. I have a presto too but it doesn't compare to the all american ..
you are so right :)
@@LindasPantry why is the All American Canner better? I love my Presto, but I can a lot so I'm open to switching if there is a reason.
I know this goes back aways but its never too late to say thank you! So Thank you!
Just made this it made 23 pints wow it is so good
Nice canning job there linda.I think we all could see how happy you were with your new canner.congrats to you.as a safety note you did the the right thing.always bleed off any pressure then as its being loosened do the jiggle test if nothing comes out your good.dont have a canner ,but work with high pressure systems.safety first.what is the maxium pressure on a canner ???
Thanks for the recipe! making some today, but just a note, I've probably watched this a half dozen times, the video freezes at 6:27, and again at 7:47. Not a huge deal, I just bump it to 6:28 or 6:29, and a few seconds after for the second freeze. Not sure what might cause it (I did just update all my settings, but I think it was happening before that too). We LOVE S&S in this house, and I have all the ingredients! Can't wait to get started!
This looks fantastic and I can't wait to try it!
Made this today also. So yummy, although I haven't eaten it yet. But looking forward to using it with chicken.
Linda, I was thinking of canning this with meatballs. What do you think? I can meatballs with marinara and they turn out perfect.
This is a great idea...gonna have to go see what else imstillworkin' is up to...have not seen her vid on this...so much of what you do fits with what my hubby and i eat too....luv ya!
Awesome! I will be trying this for sure.
Working on a batch now! Inspired!
What would the time be for quarts? This looks wonderful but pints would be impractical for my family.
Wonderful. Thanks for sharing.....
Hi Linda. I want to make everyone of your recipes. U explain everything so good. I’m a new canner. Question. Can I add chicken to this recipe and can it then with the thickener in it. Just bought the clear jel. Thank u
I am going to do this. You are amazing!
The sauce is great on it's own but..... Add about a cap full of orange extract and a can of drained mandarin oranges . serve over rice and you have a very tasty orange chicken! Adjust extract to your liking.
Hi Linda, Love it. Have you ever thought to move your microwave?
Create a nice day.
Hey Linda, can you do me a favor? Could you measure from your stove top (i have the same stove as you) to the bottom of your microwave to see the clearance in inches for that canner. I would like to get it, but I'm not sure it would fit. Thanks so much. Can you do some other chinese entree's also to can, this would save me tons of money, as my family LOVES chinese.
Looks wonderful. We don't like bell peppers however, if I left those out could I water bath can this. Same everything just no peppers
I can't wait to try this. But, as is typical with me, I have a number of questions.
1) Can you use FRESH PINEAPPLE and FRESH PINEAPPLE JUIICE in this recipe instead of canned stuff? If so, any guess how many cups of pineapple chunks and juice I'd need? How many ounces are in your #10 can of pineapples? ANYONE?
2) You mentioned that this is good for a SINGLE SERVING. I'm guessing you mean a SINGLE MEAL and not just for one person? A pint seems like a TON of sugar and sauce for one person. LoL
3) Have you ever tried this with ULTRA GEL? It's a gluten-free, non-GMO thickener for canning. I'm wondering if this will work with that. Hmm...
4) I've watched this twice now today and I think you omitted SALT? is that true? No salt in this recipe?
THANKS, LINDA! :) You're the best!
Thank you for the yummy recipe 🙂
Can you tell me how those vegetables hold up after a few months? Will you can this again?
Why not water bath can it?
Wouldn't the onions have the longest canning time? They go for 40mins. I am thinking of doing this up. But I think I would do 40 mins for it.
I was hoping you would do this recipe in bulk! Thank you. By the way, looks like you have lost weight. Good for you!
Linda Love your cooking pan.. What is the brand name & where can I get it.. ?
Have you tried a teriyaki sauce? I'm wondering if I can get away with a water bath since there's no fruit or vegetables in it..but boy I can't find a recipe anywhere for canning.
What if you don't have a canner like that? I use the bath method as it is called. Would that work? How long do I leave them in?
hi Linda, I have been canning since feb, and I have heard references to canning lids and them not lasting more then a year, all my canning has been 2016 and I really need your input here should I be concerned all my jars will only last a year? has ball fixed the issue with their lids or is there another product I can purchase for future canning... I am canning for extended pantry and for years not just a year?
Freeze your fresh ginger. Problem solved :)
If I dont have clear jel, can I thicken it later?
Hello Linda. I have a good supply of therm flo. Did you not like therm flo ? In your Chicken ala King soup, ( I made this too ... Yumm ! ) We used the other. Will that do for your sauce or will it be too milky looking ? Thanks in advance :-)
I love this recipe and will make it, for sure ! Thank you.
Is it safe to can this in quarts instead of pints. I teenage boys.
Connie D Yes!
Is clear jell gluten free?
YAAY WW!
Yes go weight watchers
