I made this last week. Tonight I opened a jar and a jar of chicken from 2012 and had sweet and sour chicken over rice. We loved it! Thank you so much, Linda.

OK, Mama..... I might have to make you a video response and shout out and give this recipe a go!!!! Looks FANTASTIC! I am actually drooling here! hahaha I didnt see your link for the clear jel..... do you have a specific place you like to buy it from? someplace that you get credit for? if so, leave me a link and I will buy it through there! :D
And YES on the weight watcher points! that would be fantastic! even though I am pregnant now, I lost 68lbs on weight watchers by doing their point system, and will be headed back on it after baby is born. So that would be awesome!
OH I bet your kitchen smelled wonderful after opening up that canner. hahahahaha YUM!

Fyi, you can buy fresh ginger. Peel the whole thing, grade what you need. Then put the leftover in a baggie and freeze it. Pull out when you need. Lasts forever.

Hello Linda, Grandma CC here. I'm not sure if you know my gov't name (Martha) BUT I made this today. It is PHENOMENAL !! I also opened a jar of the sweet pumpkins pickles (your recipe) this weekend and those are PHENOMENAL also. I'll bet newer subscribers would love this. Not everyone look at the old video's. Just a thought.

Hi Linda love to watch you cook. You are right to can the longest time of any ingredients! I have been canning for 50 yrs. and this is what my older canning books say to do! I have just recently gotten into the electric canner, mine is the Elete 13 function canner! I love it! 😀 have a wonderful fall. Be well... Nan

I love sweet and sour sauce but I have to have crunchy veggies so I think I'll make the sauce and then just add the vegies when I cook the meals, that way I can also use it as a dipping sauce for eggrolls too. thanks Linda for this great recipe.

I love this recipe ...I have canned this before and doubled Sues recipe. next time I will triple it cause I like to to quarts. Pints just aren't enough for us.. this is a great recipe. So quick when you are in a hurry for dinner just fry up your chicken strips cook your rice and grab a jar of sweet and sour sauce.. LOVE IT!

Sweet and Sour Sauce: 1 Tbsp. soy sauce 3 Tbsp. apple cider
vinegar 1/2 chopped onion 1 bell pepper 2 tsp. garlic 8 oz. tomato sauce 1/2
cup brown sugar 2 Tbsp. Clear Gel (non-instant) 1/2 cup water 1 Tbsp. minced
ginger Juice from a can of pineapple chunks (20 oz) Pineapple chunks Mix all
ingredients together except for pineapple chunks and cook over medium heat
until thickened. Add pineapple chunks and put into pint jars and process in a
pressure canner at 10 lbs. pressure for 25 minutes. This makes 2 pints. Note:
If you are not canning this and want to cook the sweet and sour sauce to eat
immediatley, cornstarch can be substituted for the Clear Gel. If you are
canning the sauce, Clear Gel must be used. QUART JARS I HAD 10 MINUTES. WORKS GREAT.

One thing we have started doing, when we plan to open a jar or two for dinner the same day we can, is to use a tattler or a reused lid (marked) for the jars we plan to open right away. This saves precious 'one time use' lids for jars that go into the pantry.

Thanks for the recipe! making some today, but just a note, I've probably watched this a half dozen times, the video freezes at 6:27, and again at 7:47. Not a huge deal, I just bump it to 6:28 or 6:29, and a few seconds after for the second freeze. Not sure what might cause it (I did just update all my settings, but I think it was happening before that too). We LOVE S&S in this house, and I have all the ingredients! Can't wait to get started!

The sauce is great on it's own but..... Add about a cap full of orange extract and a can of drained mandarin oranges . serve over rice and you have a very tasty orange chicken! Adjust extract to your liking.

Hey Linda, can you do me a favor? Could you measure from your stove top (i have the same stove as you) to the bottom of your microwave to see the clearance in inches for that canner. I would like to get it, but I'm not sure it would fit. Thanks so much. Can you do some other chinese entree's also to can, this would save me tons of money, as my family LOVES chinese.

I can't wait to try this. But, as is typical with me, I have a number of questions.
    1) Can you use FRESH PINEAPPLE and FRESH PINEAPPLE JUIICE in this recipe instead of canned stuff? If so, any guess how many cups of pineapple chunks and juice I'd need? How many ounces are in your #10 can of pineapples? ANYONE?
    2) You mentioned that this is good for a SINGLE SERVING. I'm guessing you mean a SINGLE MEAL and not just for one person? A pint seems like a TON of sugar and sauce for one person. LoL
    3) Have you ever tried this with ULTRA GEL? It's a gluten-free, non-GMO thickener for canning. I'm wondering if this will work with that. Hmm...
    4) I've watched this twice now today and I think you omitted SALT? is that true? No salt in this recipe?
THANKS, LINDA! :) You're the best!
