It’s not Scottish but there’s a fantastic podcast called Candlelit Tales. A brother and sister tell old Irish myths and legends. It includes many of the deities featured in this deck.
I don’t mind that you read so much from the book-it was nice to know that it has so much information about what’s on the cards and the folklore. It sounds like a really good guidebook and if you ever wanted to do this for a deck study, I wouldn’t complain! I’m also glad the Cailleach features a few times. 💜
Great video Lisa.. I can't wait to get this deck by Julia.. I'm a follower of her art..I have many of these cards on art prints..and I'm so excited for the deck to work with.. Julia's first deck is one of my main favourites..and this new deck is beautiful and primal..I've followed Julia in the creating of this deck from the beginning so it's very special that it's now complete and I can't wait to be working with this. Thanks for sharing this. Yes it's Scottish thistle. ❤❤❤❤
Love the pendant…but the Tarot, simply stunning. The images/art, the composition of them (I’m an art nerd) and the colors…incredible. There are so many powerful cards that made me pause this video to study & take a closer look. I love when creators share with us their progress overtime as I feel it just creates even more of a personalized unique bond and I’m on pins & needles awaiting to receive & read with this deck! Great video as always, Lisa!
I am Scottish and live in Australia. I am also travelling through my Crone years. I am strongly connected to the country of my birth, its mythology and history. I also strongly connect to the Calleach. This is most definitely the deck I have been searching for. Thank you for sharing.💙💙💙💙💙💙
One of the many beautiful aspects of Hekate is that she is a dark goddess of many names. So even if you pronounce Hekate differently (for me, I use both), you aren’t doing her injustice. Also, I’m deep in the middle of Entering Hekate’s Cave and I cannot recommend it enough! It’s a shadow work book for sure and it’s worth diving into! The author has outlined the book beautifully and you can quickly tell not only does she know what it’s like working with the goddess, but she teaches shadow work as well. I personally love the wide margins too because as a deep dive study book, they allow me to write my thoughts and whatnot. What a great box for both!!
Thank you so much for sharing this deck & going through it, as a Scot myself I had assumed i would be stuck with the Wildwood & Druidcraft Tarot for these types of decks (very Beautiful not quite enough for me) so to see this is a deck that features my own heritage is just so exciting it makes me emotional, i cant believe i have to wait January to get it here in the uk though 😭.
I am really interested to see how you work with this deck. A reading list for Scottish Celtic mythology would be awesome too! Maybe invite the creator on your channel to discuss!!
Disappointed the deck is glossy. (I can't shuffle so the shuffleability of Llewellyn cards doesn't score any points with me but their cardstock just doesn't feel good in my hand.) Beautiful art in this deck and I've got tons of Scottish heritage, too, but as a tarot all these faces staring out at me just doesn't 'read' easily though it's nice to see some age in faces! I would probably use it as an oracle. Amazing info in the guidebook. Thanks for sharing all of these goodies.
Same here, but I am getting it any way . I found with the hidden realms same, card stock wears down a bit though with use and settles in. . Now I have a nice worn in deck of the hidden realms. I will do the same with this one too .
Hidden Realm is my favorite deck. So I surprised myself in deciding to not preorder this deck. I wasn't sure how this deck's guidebook would be without Barbara Moore. Also the limited cards I saw felt different than Hidden Realm. With a few exceptions that fit the card (10 Swords), Hidden Realm's characters are very warm, soft, in artwork. It's a light deck. This deck seemed harsher, more jagged in the art and I was afraid I wouldn't like it. "Primal" is a good word for what I noticed. I am so glad that you spent time going through the guidebook. At some point I had to stop comparing the two, and let the guidebook be it's unique legacy. The art is amazing. I may end up getting it, but knowing it's never gonna come close to Hidden Realm for me.
Stunning art the guide is worthy just alone to get this deck. I personally think this works better for Oracle and single card exploring than tarot . This deck is delivering by December 8/9 maybe and im so exciting for it 😃 thank you Lisa
Imt’a funny how I was drinking chai when I was watching this, gotta love chai. The deck isn’t really my thing (even though I love decks that move a bit from RWS since for some reason I’m not as drawn to those decks), but just not for me.
This is my most anticipated deck, I can't wait for the pre-order decks to ship from Llewellyn, I've been watching all the images as she created them but I'm saving watching all the cards for going through it myself but had to at least watch parts :D Thank you for the oracle point, I need to look that one up!
OMG!! I got chills when you read the back!! I cannot wait to get this deck in my hands. Thanks for sharing, I can't wait to hear how she works for you.
I have been interested in this deck but seeing your videos of it confirms that it is something I will need to pick up in the coming months. I too wish there were a suggested deeper or additional resources to read as well as a list of references she used. I feel it’s pull for the Celtic people and their magick in this set; though not Irish the Scottish Gaelic voice still rings true. It’s exciting.
You made me preorder this beautiful deck 🥴✨ Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm with this deck 🙏✨I appreciate your videos all the time. I love you ☺️🧡
A book reading list would have been awesome to accompany this deck. I will make one suggestion in regard to the Morrigan. Courtney Weber's book "The Morrigan" is excellent for lore regarding all aspects of The Morrigan (Macha, Morrigu, Badb).
Thank you for sharing, Lisa. I adore her artwork and love learning Scottish lore. Unpopular opinion: this deck wouldn't work for me. I'm not blessed with being able to see a card and intuitively know what it is; an example is two of trees... that image does not convey 2 of wands for me. It is lovely, but I would just never reach for it.
Witch sister tarot is really doing something to my heart. I do love decks that feel rooted in nature and the artwork is stunning, the imagery is not limited by age. I appreciate some masculine energy. Its absolutely on my wishlist. ❤😊 thanknyou
Make sure you block out your tracking numbers too, so people can't look it up and see addresses and such. You could try coating the metal of the cord with clear nail polish and that might make it wearable for you. You can alwaya re-coat the nail polish if it wears off. I get absolutely nothing from this deck. It's a pass for me.
Wow... really interested in this deck. I can totally see why it hits you.... cave? Honestly. Just like your deck! I have also been feeling the need to connect with my scottish and celtic ancestry. I don't think i could connect with this deck otherwise
I honestly don't understand why everyone is so hyped about this deck. The art is pretty yes, but it's all just goddesses and personally I don't find that too exciting or original. Not diverse enough for tarot meanings that are so so deep and each card so different 🤷♀️ if I ask you to tell me all these cards from your mind it will be really tricky unless you really are into Scottish/Irish entities. Please someone explain to me why there is so much hype around this deck? 😅
I guess, Julia has involved many of her followers with the creation of this deck for the last few years.. so many of those followers are excited about this deck. It's been a great journey for many.. But if it's not your type of deck that's ok... It's going to be a popular one for a lot of us.
I totally see what you mean, but I think a lot of tarot enthusiasts really love Celtic lore! I can see myself buying this deck one day, but only if I have time to really study the guidebook.
It's a maybe for me because A) I love these Llewellyn decks with the full color guidebook B) I'm into Celtic lore, even though I don't personally work with gods or goddesses. The thing holding me back is actually the art. It is interesting, but a little dull/dark/monochromatic for my tastes overall. If I do get it it will primarily be because I just can't resist that guidebook and the lore within. I know I could just read about the lore in other books etc, but it's more fun for me with cards involved and this subject matter is right up my alley.
@@dawnnicholson9675 This makes sense - when someone is personally involved and see how something is being created, than ofc you'd be excited to see the final product. Thanks for your explanation:)
@@DD-nu8jt I myself love celtic core too but idk, just having goddesses there and no other parts of the culture/tradition doesn't do it for me personally. But I can appreciate that it will do things for some people =D
The Drummond Clan (my maiden name is Drummonds - my ancestor added the "S") is Scottish. Our family has 4 castles over there! Our motto is "Honour Crowns Virtue." This deck is exciting!
The plant on the back is the Thistle! The national plant of Scotland!

I had to order this deck, but i won't get it until Jan 23rd. Very excited though. Love, love, love the images.
I wasn't sold...and then you read that beautiful book and my Scottish roots were screaming ❤❤
I don't remember where I first saw this deck being advertised but it's already in my wish list!!! I am definitely grabbing this one!!
Eeeeeeeeeee! 👏🤩 Beautiful deck! Drooling over the sub box and everything in this video! 🤤✨🖤✨ I love when you get excited about new decks!

Lisa hi! have you seen the tarot diagnosis? Sha has released a spread book that looks amazing!
I’d like to see a review of that book please
No I haven't!
I say Hekate both ways too

Yes thistle

Is there any way to wear a pendant without the chain/clasp yanking your hair out? 😮
lol i must be lucky or it's the type of clasp because I never get my clasp caught!
@@Lisa_Papezsame. Never had that issue. Lol
I don't have either deck, but I bet this would go well with the Brian Froud Faery decks.
Definitely looks like milk thistle.

OK Obsessed. Like my ancestor are Scottish too and my only child is my little sheltie! (Dog mom lol sorry) Omg I can't😭💛
There is something oddly sexual about the card backs. Is it just me? LOL
