Gosh, Teoni and Duong could have won the first game if there had been a camera for video review for that controversial call. What's the point to even allow the players to challenge if there was no camera set up for the video review? That one point was really a game changer, literally. They got to have camera set up for every single game if there's prize money involved. PERIOD.
True, but the point regardless is this: Duong was heavily upset by the notion of: No Video, when we have the live feed going on. That enough should be good footage and especially when you can zoom in on it
"IRON DONG" Quang is the beginning of the new era in pickleball- only 17 years old and just wiped the floor with Ben. Many Of these kids are coming in late 2024 and 2025!!! Gonna be amazing when Ben can't even reach the quarters anymore.
Roger Federer's Agent. "Hey Jack, Fed has a direct entry into the doubles draw at the Australian Open and he's wondering if you'd like to...uh, is that a paddle in your hand..." Never mind.
Great match. I was rooting for the "unorthodox" underdogs to win. Now if only @ppatour could hire a sound guy to balance the average SOUND POWER to MATCH that of normalcy/the ads so that I don't have to run in every 15m to hit mute over the 20th Vulcan ball ad I've seen that is like 20dB LOUDER than the average of the match, this would be a real pleasure to watch.

@MattFitzgerald-it2zp the fact that serving an inch or two above the hip is "controversial" is part of the shit holding professional pickleball back. It's a joke. Lol
They are all so good. Sock is kind of a jerk though and he made a majority of errors. But some of his shots are ridiculously hard to defend. I think he was wrong about the ball he said hit Doung.
Yeah sock has really committed way too many errors.as of this comment at en of first game.shick seems a little aggravated.but sick redeems a lot before end of first round.. with atp .he held it so long and it was a tiny window shot of the match so I'm gonna give him a break and not rag on him.i so wish sock would let Colin get more involved .like he did in the end of first game .his serve and good calls and good hold offs really kicked in right when it was most important.so I give shick the MVP of first match .I think sock is hopefully getting away from his bad mistakes.mental mostly but a lot of missed shots that are of the easy variety.thise are the ones that hurt a team the worst ...and really eat at a partner ...happens frequently in amateur play making an hitting the hard and difficult shots and missing and hitting wide, and into net and loñg the most simple almost roitine balls.🎉
pickleball is still too new to have dogma like "structured play", yeah it works for the Johns, but we've only seen a sliver of the talent and possible play patterns.
"step forward to explode back"? what? no...high level tennis players after the split step will drop step, not take a step forward. Maybe when you get thrown off expecting a passing shot and they hit a top spin lob you take a step forward but generally, lob goes up, unit turn w/ a drop step. I'll throw up a top spin lob into the ad corner on a RH player if i get caught in the transition zone and I have good ball to hit. Most non tennis players have terrible overheads, hitting it frying pan style.
Looked like it was late in the day so not unexpected. It is, however, not a good look for a pro event. You're gonna have tennis players coming in to the comments with empty seat counts and asking why this sport is so popular. =P
Looks like rec ball on steroids, which is probably why all us rec players enjoy watching it. Sure, it doesn't teach me much in the way of technique, but it's entertaining.
Duong had a bad stretch in the second game. He's a much better singles player than doubles in my opinion. His serve is also one of his biggest weapons and the serve rules for this tournament took that away from him.
@@BWells5152 I don't disagree, but there's added pressure and increased mistakes when you're forced to carry the entire offensive load. Pesa's inability to drive, counter, or speed-up was exposed.
I think Masters exposed both Pesa and Duong weaknesses when facing stronger players. This is just something they are gonna have to take to the drawing board and work on their own games with. They both have a lot to improve on.
Wow, really looking forward to seeing more of this doubles pair Sock/Shick.... great game
Adam Stone, ladies and gentlemen, the best commentator in the business
“Did you see that?”
Every ref: “I did not”
@5:00?
Made an “in” hand signal even 🧐
Amazing

Can’t spend money on cameras when you’re spending money on bringing tennis players into the game, apparently
I'm inclined to agree. At this level, and with actual money on the line, it's inexcusable.

@@nihilus1626Yeah, even if they had a camera, I don't think it would have been enough to overturn.
@5:00 is even worse. The ball was in by a mile
Adam Stone great commentary!!!
5:06 min - Ball is in!
Teoni/Duong should have challenged!
Great match
@5:06 Ball looked in the me. Cheap move by Shick to get their first point.
Yep definitely in. Schick the only player on the court who thought it was out.
The refs were asked & agreed it was out 💁🏼♀️
Ball was out...
Yeah ok @@tmo8385 😆
Newman/Wilson next up...gonna be a good one
sock has turned into an actual pickleball player

Replay showed to me ball didn't touch nor deflect ... so QD was fast and correct.
Love the energy of Sock/Shick - play hard, try different strategies and great athletes!
“Colin shick the doctor on hold” please stop this
Cringy
For real
Sock hit a pretty great ATP on match point in the first game.
That’s called game point
@@ardynites1733 you're correct. Thank you for clarifying.
if he missed it, he would have called the ball out and the ref would agree.

18:02 Dang nasty
Can you guys for once show the handshake at the net?
The refs are sad. The closest ref is asking for the opinion of the other ref on the OTHER side of the court if she saw the ball. Made me chuckle.
There is so much happening in each rally. Where's the slow motion replays?!
nice crowd
Duong needs to soften up
So why is the player reversing all those calls tho?
Easy with the hyperboles every time Sock hits a winner!
PPA is such a joke ... "no video available "
So amateur thing to do. But that ball did look out
It's 2024 and PB tournaments can't even get a camera on the lines.
It’s fun to play, not to watch
For how much they spend on the video boards, they can install 16 mini cameras and have software developed for easy on court use ...
Wahh little baby
They need some slow mo line cams 😅 refs are blind
wow the commentating. will put on mute and keep watching the match.
Can someone tell the announcers to say "Young" not "Du-ong"?
Not a fan of the new serve rules.
New rule is so stupid. Taking any signature serves away from the game.
Love the new serve rules. Takes the controversy out of it.
