  • On his first outing in recent memory as an independent artist, nothing, nowhere departs from Fueled by Ramen to craft an eighteen track album that boasts a variety of the influences he has been building towards. Going after the industry that pushed him away, he pulls together a variety of emo hip hop, rock and metal inspired tracks with his constant emo tinges while taking a surprising amount of vocal risks with a more homegrown and raw style from start to finish, feeling like the culmination of all of the records that led to this point.
Intro by my lovely partner Near!

I would describe the album's sound like if you mix the emo rap of reaper and ruiner with the rock and post hardcore of void eternal and BOOM 18 tracks

That's so valid, yeah, this truly is a culmination of everything he's built towards without a doubt. I love that about the trajectory of his music. The longer you've listened to him, the more you see his many influences play out in a meaningful way!!!!!!!

Oddly enough I love reaper gang and okok. And I’ve been a fan for years

Super valid! Nothing wrong with that and I think they're good in their own right. :)

I also think this album is a 7/10. You did a good job summimg up my complaints. Glad hes going back to more emo hip hop roots. Reaper + ruiner are still my favorites, but this album has a few great songs.

Not counting a couple tracks from trauma factory (overall a pretty solid album)
DM has gotta have some of my favorite nn work since ruiner.
I don't think anything could ever top ruiner for me due to my bias and attachment to it.
but i absolutely love about 75% of dark magic's tracks.
i work out to this album nearly every day honestly

finally a proper review that contains well-founded opinions, a look at vemc, an explanation. you know what youre talking about and you obviously know N,N. It seems to me that it's very modern today to record "reaction" videos where people don't know anything about the artist in question and it's just useful for their channel because it's hot topic on UA-cam and it will bring them views.

Oh of course haha. I tend to do more essay type vids and only do reviews if I truly have something to add to the conversation and something to say! I've made quite a bit of content on him and he's been my favorite artist for awhile so I've always loved talking about him! Cheers

@@TheMetalTempestYT thank you! i ve already watched some of your older vids, really like the content.
So now he is not your fav artist anymore? If so, why? Just curious, thank you :)

Aw, thank you that means a lot!
And yes, he is my favorite solo artist still, that hasn't changed. :)@@jaksed19xx55

This still sits in my top three for me in terms of LP’s.
    1. Reaper
    2. Trauma Factory
    3. Dark Magic
    4.Ruiner
    5. Void Eternal
    6. Self titled

That's valid haha, for me I think my top three would be Ruiner, Reaper and Void Eternal. For me, the top two just have so much personal feelings attached to them that I can't ever look past and just came at me in a time in my life I needed them.

@@TheMetalTempestYT Don’t get me wrong, Void Eternal is good. It just wasn’t what I was looking for from N,N. And mann Reaper and Ruiner are both banger, and I feel you on the whole “came to my life when I needed them”. Some tracks off Ruiner are really soul touching for me (Rejecter, Ruiner especially since I genuinely lost my mind due to psychosis and it resulted in me losing someone close to me, Vacanter, Reminiscer) and Reaper made me shed numerous tears and hit me in the soul. I think the reason I rank Dark Magic over Ruiner is cause there’s a lot of skippable tracks for me anyways.

"old school nothing nowhere approach trauma factory and ruiner" not really, its more of an approach of evolution, getting more current to modern sounds in the underground, putting the more heavy longer songs at the end makes more sense, most people who know him NOW are more "trap/hiphop" anmd now hes clocked in at the millions he has alot of people outside of the target fanbase who listen for the pop stuff, the shorter attention spans for shorter songs in front (really who actually listens to FULL projects start to finish unless youre seasoned) longer harder songs at the end!, [also you should watch his streams, he pretty much streamed him making this whole album start to finish lmfao]

I'm sure I'm in the minority but still my favorite content on your channel are the album reviews

    • @TheMetalTempestYT
      @TheMetalTempestYT  4 місяці тому

That's totally valid! i really enjoy doing them, too, but I try not to make that the focus solely because it limits creativity and I want to cover things I feel like I can add something to the conversation about / feel strongly about. With that being said I do want to inject a lot more reviews into the channel in the coming weeks! :) Lots of releases I'm looking forward to checking out / talking about!!!!!!!
