- Surf filmmakers Perry Gershkow and Kyle Buthman - who produced ‘Out Front: Santa Cruz‘ - understand the nuances of the coastline between Pillar Point and the Golden Gate better than most. Which is to say: cold, raw, windy, unpredictable, and occasionally epic. As dutiful documentarians, they have to always be ready for the epic days. And as sadists, they’re always ready to get skunked. The edit above - compiled from years of footage from the two - is obviously celebrating the former.

excellent waves, surfers and photographers.
This is mostly Mavericks! No camera person would be able to just hang out in the channel and take photos at OB and that gnarly beach break. Great shots nonetheless!
if you can make the paddle at OBSF you have my respect
I made that paddle on an overhead day with a bodyboard when I was 13 and its still probably my proudest accomplishment.

Great work! But the only thing I'd say is that you should have thrown in a shot of a great white shark to represent the reality of surfing there. haha
Cool vid but would have wished it featured more of the locals. Glad it was primarily only OB and Mav's, lets keep the other spots out of the limelight..

Ah SF...nothing like paddling through 200 yds of ice cold white water only to sit out back catching your breath before paddling into bombs like these.
...and really, Mavericks deserves its own Out Front.

If you grew up surfing Cencal/ Norcal you'd know it's a love/hate thing
Not to mention: Great Whites, murky water, rip tides, expensive parking, homeless on the beach, garbage everywhere, biting wind and crime.
You didn't show Fort Point under the Golden Gate Bridge.
Or Dead Man's, and only one shot of Kelly's that I could spot.

As scary as Mavericks is, I think I would rather go out there on a twenty foot day, then attempt a ten to twelve foot day at Ocean Beach!

Cold water surfing is not for everyone... OB is one of the biggest beach breaks in the world. Of corse there were some mav waves in the movie... lol

Bruh half of these are mavericks clips give them their own episode, in the SF out front I'm tryna see strictly OB clips!
So they only shot in 2 spots, Ocean Beach and Mavericks (which isn't even SF)? How about Pacifica, under the GG Bridge, North Bay etc.? Could have been much more broad and colorful for so many breaks here. That being said, the surfing, videography and editing was excellent.

It was horrible place to learn to surf, great place to learn how to "Eat Sh_t" Out there. But an amazing City all told; in the 90's. Blessed we were.... I always lived near OB. Some of The opening big waves are at Mavs, Not SF>
