Fierce Rock and Roll band. Pulverizing. Hyper sexual. They sound like no other band. And no other band sounds like them. They play live with all the aggression of a war. Brilliant!!
Track listing: 1. Reverence 2. Snakedriver 3. Come on 4. Happy when it rains 5. Teenage Lust 6.The perfect crime 7. Everybody I know 8. Girlfriend 9. Hole 10. Head on 11. Sugar Ray Live: 19th April 1995 , Bristol 'Sound City' BBC Radio recording.
Cheers for this. I got the first track at the end of a tape of Teenage Fanclub also recorded at R1 Bristol Sound City. I remember think wow! That’s ’kin good, I better get the rest of the gig off my taper source. And then I didn’t. So I’m pleased to find it here. I got Prodigy on the b side of the tape. Funny that it’s almost 30 years ago. As in, not funny at all!
I know, was just thinking the same thing. I've got this gig on tape but halfway through my stereo lost the stereo signal and the rest of it is in slightly muffled mono. And nice to know I'm not the only one who used to tape these Sound City gigs religiously - there are some great recordings gathering dust in my tape collection - Mogwai, Elastica, Radiohead, Six By Seven and the rest...
This is great! Stoned and Dethroned was the first lp by The Mary Chain I ever bought, principally because of the single with Hope Sandoval, and I played it to death. Almost wore the cassette out. Nice to hear a few songs from that record, hear, and the earlier stuff is really good, too. The epitome of cool. Like, Primal Scream. You know what I mean. ✌️😎👌Come On is not one of theirs, is it? Was that The Beach Boys or what?

yeah come on was out stoned and dethroned.
Come On is an original song written by Jim Reid (the singer)
The closest jamc ever got to beach boys was Cherry Came Too...unless they ever covered the beach boys
