I've noticed a lot of recurring 'leitmotifs' in the music throughout the series (a reprise of Kaerimichi as Hachikiuji says her 'final goodbye' at the end of the Shinobu Time arc, for example) as well. There's a lot of planning and effort that went into this franchise over a long period of time and multiple media ('regular' series, episodes premiering on the web, ONA shorts, theatrical release movies, etc.)

The first scene in Monogatari, is Araragi taking Senjougahara to Oshino Meme in the abandoned school, the last scene in Owarimonogatari mimics this scene but in the end is Ougi who takes Araragi's sister to that place. It's a great depiction of how he has grown, seeing that now he is sitting right where Oshino Meme used to be
