If you can't invest time in the game you won't be able to enjoy it because the early game is mostly about grinding materials. But if you can get through that, there are no words to describe how amazing this game really is.

Nah man, just speed run through the village quests straight to high rank to grind the best stuff. The true grind is the endgame. I finished most stories in 1 set of armor. No need for it after.

This video does two things, it makes you understand MonHun and it really makes you wanna play it. You fell right in our trap.
But honestly the combat and difficulty is actually somewhat close to Souls so Dark Souls not being your thing might be an indicator that Monster Hunter also might not be your thing as well.
And it is a huge time investment. Also right now people are moving on from Monster Hunter World to Monster Hunter Rise on the Switch for a while.
There is definitely a Monster Hunter World 2 in the works for PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S which could be your entry into the series maybe. But that is still several years in the future.
    Glad you enjoyed this video.

I may give monster hunter world a shot! It'd just down to time which is the issue haha but was a very good and funny video! And actually educational! I think if I was to try it I would give monster hunter world the title of my first ever monster hunter game!

Going blind solo is a blast, at least it was for me, until you end with the elder dragons where you actually have to use your brain for your stuff, especially the special quests that have like intervals before you can actually do them. And then you end up with so much loot in your chest just looking at them makes you realize how much of your time you spent grinding this game just for that one armor piece.
Funny thing is that it’s been a thing since forever in monster hunter. Trying to get that one rath plates or lagiacrus plates back then just for that one single piece of armor you’ll later never use again because you found a better set.

5:44 it's not exactly as complicated as people make it out to be:
    1. Attack in sword mode to fill your phial gauge. When it turns yellow it gives you half the phials, in red you get all of them. Attacking too much in sword mode will make your attacks bounce off.
    2. When you attack in axe mode you can expend phials primarily used to deal elemental damage.
    OR...
    3. Transfer your phials to the shield and repeat step 1. This improves your guarding and will allow you to do the Ultra Discharge, which is your most damaging attack. This alternates depending what type of phials you chose; Impact Phials are capable of stunning the monster, while Element phials deal increased damage if used on a monster weak to the element of your weapon.
    That's the jist of it.

As someone of who solo'd both base MHW and the dlc Iceborne, i definitely recommend Solo, especially during low rank as you figure out the combat system and high rank if you want to start testing your skills. Co-op is very fun too and you could move get help early on but i feel like if you just barely getting into the game, Solo will help you learn through experience.
I feel like you don't need to focus on the "Menu Hunter" or creating builds until High Rank but you can get away without it up to that point. Once you get Master Rank in Iceborne, that's when thay part becomes very critical. But it's all part of the fun.
It's definitely fun and I recommend giving it a chance. If you like the base game, then MHW Iceborne will be worth it.

Just found this, great video for one. As for monster hunter, since I'm not sure if you've tried it out. For someone like me who just liked the idea of go fight giant monster, the numbers and crazy min/maxing is maybe 0.1% of what I actually do. The game is very like dark souls, in that you slowly get better by learning the core functions of the game over and over again, but nowhere near as difficult. I would absolutely recommend playing with friends, however it isn't needed since you can join other players sessions or let other randoms join you.
I think my favorite moment was when I was joined by a cat headed, mostly nude man in underwear, wielding a literal star wand for a hammer, in a fight against a dragon themed like the grim fucking reaper, and won by throwing a rock at it.

btw monster hunter world is the most lacklustre in the series in terms of weapons since most of them look the same reason being that its more "immersive", where as in other titles every monster has their own design as well as standalone non-monster trees like poison

MH is a very time consuming franchise World/Iceborne alone i have 1600+ hours in and most of the others i have around 500+ hours in and I’ve played 10 MH games and the majority of your time will be grinding
And I’ve played most solo course it’ll get boring every now and then but i still enjoy it especially testing my skills on some end game monsters
But it is still very enjoyable playing with friends or even randoms that’ll potentially become your friends
I recommend its very fun but its not for everyone or everyone doesn’t have the time for it which is 100% understandable
    Other than that awesome vid

The whole thing about the game being 90% menus is really over-exaggerated imo. I mostly just pick the weapons/armor with the biggest numbers for attack/defense/etc. I don't care much about the special armor skills at the end of the day, and I get around in the game just fine. Some of the endgame bosses like Alatreon, Safi'jiiva and Fatalis give me a lot of trouble, but I don't really mind.
