Used to smoke convenience store cigars once in awhile, but mostly smoked a pipe in the past. Stopped smoking anything for couple decades while raising children, and now that they are grown, and the wife left, I got back into the pipe. Then I tried some more convenience store cigars. I’m a long haul trucker, and the cigars are much more convenient. I smoke cigarillos when I’m trucking because I don’t have time for a larger cigar. Saw one of your UA-cam videos, and decided to try larger cigars. I’m kinda becoming more of a cigar smoker, even when I’m home. Recently ordered some cigars from you, and have been enjoying the experience. Ordered a bunch of singles so I could try different strengths out. I prefer a light to medium cigar and my cigarillos flavored and natural. Like maduros pretty much, and Connecticuts. I’m experimenting with stronger cigars now. I’ve already learned the hard way what happens when I smoke a stronger cigar too fast. I’m learning to chill out and slow down when smoking. Sounds weird maybe, but smoking the larger and stronger cigars is helping me to experience new things, but also to discipline myself more, and learn to chill. I’m ex military and chilling is something I have to work on. I’ll be the sergeant until the day I die, but with discipline, which I was taught, I can become a more chilled sergeant. 😎

    Picture this:
You try your first cigar based on one of Tim's reviews.
You like it, even though you had higher expectations for the taste.
You realize you have to try more cigars to develop a palate.
Tim drops this video the very next day.
I'm not sure I'll find any of the recommendations in my area, but it's a good starting point.
    Thanks, Tim!

I joined a cigar of the month club just to get a wider variety of cigars without the hassle of walking into a cigar shop and searching the humidor myself, anyone wanting to expand their palate without the hassle of spending hours searching through the humidors at your local B&M, I'd recommend rolling the dice with a reputable cigar of the month club, some offer a wide variety of subscriptions offering everything from mild to medium to full flavor full strength, and from your basic cigar lines to the more extravagant special occasion cigars, but rest assured the price will range accordingly.
Thanks for the educational update Tim don't know what I would've done without you, besides have comments filled with misspellings.

The Amendola cigars cannoli sumatra is by far the best sumatra I’ve had. I definitely love a good Cameroon and my go to is the Espinosa Warzone. I agree that the Jaime Garcia is a great smoke.

One in the same house as the Leaf by Oscar, if your coming from the Connecticut house, is the Herrera Esteli. The Natural, the original. It's surprisingly smooth and I can't find anything like it. Personal favorite vitola is the Lonsdale Deluxe. Always flawless draw and construction.

One of those tasting notes that's always stood out to me... Not because it's my favorite but it's just something I notice... And dont know if I'm describing it right... But la Perla habanas black pearl cigar and a black tea spice note. I've noticed it in one other cigar but can't remember which one. Just such a unique flavor note I haven't picked up on in the 100s of other different sticks I've tried.

  • @pewheretic7967

100% agree about the Leaf by Oscar. I have boxes of every variety now (Omar, James, Esteban and Island Jim). Best farm cigar ever. Grassy and unique.
Cameroon is a great leaf but I keep finding less than desirable sticks that don't show it off well.... Still searching.
What I was first introduced to in Connecticut leaf has changed a lot over the last few years. Gotta start all over again... :) Yay!
For an unsolicited, slightly off-topic comment.... If you haven't tried Muestra de Saka lineup you are in for a huge figgy/fruit surprise, especially the Exclusivo! My favorite stick to date.

I am not the biggest fan of My Father cigars. Great quality, construction, burn, etc. Amazing cigars, but very few of them have rocked my world. The Jaime Garcia was the exception for me and I love that it made the list. The flavor notes of this cigar were incredible and the consistency is solid between different sticks. While I may be in a small club not amazed with My Father, this specific smoke is incredible.

As someone that is interested in trying cigars but not knowing anything about the blends, does anything I know about what I like in pipe tobacco relay to cigars? Like if I know I like say, burley, Latakia, Virginia, and perique does that help me know where to start in picking out a few cigars? Like I went into a cigar shop to get one for Father’s Day and the guy asked me, if he liked Nicaraguan or Dominican or whatever else and not only was I not sure but I didn’t know what the difference was anyway.

Ok. Less a comment and more of a question. I cut my teeth on rather mild Connecticut type smokes. As I've experimented with new stuff I've really fallen for macanudo inspirado line. Black and red are my current favorite sticks, but disappointed with palladium. With that info, I'm requesting suggestions for something new to try.

My favorite cigar now is Black Ops by Gurkha. I truly enjoy smoking that cigar from start to finish and it's one of few others that actually allows me to do that. I also am a fan of sumatras and maduro wrappers. I like cigars that are medium to full bodied but a full body cigar is my true favorite. I just love the boldness from a dark and full bodied cigar anytime.
