- This video features a tune written by Richard Sleigh that will challenge your bending skills on a key of C diatonic harmonica. If you want to skip ahead to the tune and sheet music, it starts at 4:20. Richard also talks about the "Bending Course" - an in depth course on all aspects of bending notes on the harmonica from getting your first bend to creating over-blows and over-draws. You can find the bending course at Richard's Teachable school.
Here are links to a free beginner course and for the Bending course:

King Richard has nailed it once again-excellent etude. It always better to learn something you could apply to actual playing situations. Hope all is well with you and yours, Richard. -Michael
Really nice melody/etude for the diatonic harmonica, Richard! I like how you also talked about the difference in articulation towards the end. Thanks for providing the sheet music, too! I'll try it out!
fantastic thank you, I signed up
Very nice exercise. Thanks. Also thanks for the distinction between blocking and puckering. I am a wet mouther player, so tongue blocking is something I gave up a long time ago. I just don't have the architecture. Fortunately, there is at least another 100 years or so of things I have to learn even with that limitation.
Thanks for checking in! yes - there is no end of things to learn no matter how you play the harmonica...
dude, nice linear idea for the exercise......will help folk not sound so "harmonicky" when they play if they embrace ALL the notes available and not just the same ol' same ol' ones in that low octave.
Thanks, man! I'm finding that I listen more and more to sax players to break out of the usual harmonica riffs...
@@richardroysleigh That's a great idea.
@@richardroysleigh Miles Davis! he was really just a blues player.......
