IF YOU ARE HAVING THE NOTORIOUS VW VOLKSWAGEN TURN SIGNAL ISSUE WHEN YOU TURN IT OFF AND IT KEEPS CLICKING IN THE DASH BOARD RIGHT BY THE STUPID HAZARD LIGHTS SWITH , GET SOME ELECTRICAL CLEANER SPRAY OR I USED MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR CLEANER AND FLIP YOUR TURN SIGNAL SWITCH DOWN FOR LEFT SIGNAL AND SPRAY THE BASE OF THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH WHERE IT GOES INTO THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE FLIP THE SWITCH UP AND SPRAY LIKE HELL INTO THE SAME AREA AT THE BASE OF THE SWITCH. THIS IS WHAT I DID AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM !!!! I WAS QUOTED $365.00 TO REPLACE THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH AND GUESS WHAT I FIXED IT WITH 3 PENNIES OF ELECTRICAL CLEANER SPRAY !!!! GOOD LUCK !!!! TRY IT !!! I BET IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM !!!!
Hey i have a question , i clicked on my hazard and it makes a little noise but won't flash and now the turn signals don't turn on either , is that the relay ?
Hi, My Jetta signal light works, but the clicking continues after the turn. Do you know how to fix it? This happened when I took my car in and got some headlights replaced. The dealer said that is a different problem totally.
I had the same problem, I changed the hazard switch and I changed the damaged fuses, but now, when I close and open the car, the 4 arrows do not flash, why ??
This is overkill. There is no need to remove the panel, all you need to do is remove the switch by getting under it with a flat head screw driver or something similar and pull it out and replace it with the new switch. I did it for the first time and took about 3 minutes to do on a 2002 Jetta.
I have the same problem. '03 jetta. No turn signal but the hazards work. When I try and turn the turn signal I get a buzzing sound from around the hazard button . Did you ever find a fix?
i just punched it and it started working, id recommend taking it out and cleaning the metal parts in the back and if that doesnt work go to the junk yark and pull one out its really cheap, around 20$ i think it might even be 20 for a new one
***** My 99 jetta is doing the same thing, buzzing when I use turn signal (and no signal). I replaced the hazard switch but it is still doing it so It is not the hazard switch (waste of money on a new switch) what I figured out was that if I press on the molding just above the switch the turn signal works! It's bizarre but I think if I take it apart and pack something in there to make a tighter fit for the plastic molding then it will work. It is a ridiculous fix but I just have to shim the hazard switch in tighter. Shrug. The Jetta is a whacky car but has 219k on it!
ballerina617 As it turns out I was missing a few fuses. Not that they were blown, but just not there. I replaced all the missing ones. I then took out the hazard switch and cleaned it. It looked like someone spilled Coke on it. It was a sticky black gel. Probably put their Coke on the dash and then it spilled down the whole instrument panel. It worked after that.
Hmm. The video explains what needs to be done but fails to demonstrate HOW to actually do it. Specifically, prying the vents up, disconnecting cables, etc. Thumbs down.
The vent it's on clips ... with an plastic removal tool or an flat screwdriver with some ductape on the tip you can easy remove it ... you can see the clips in the video ...

Thank you for making this video, I have a 2004 Golf and for this year you have to just remove the vents and take out the fuse/hazards.
Thanks, Juvenal, your illustration worked for me !
