Understanding the new right to disconnect. From 26 August 2024 most employees in the Fair Work System have a new workplace right to disconnect from work. This means employees may refuse to monitor, read or respond to contact outside their working hours. This new workplace right does not apply to employees of small businesses, those with fewer than 15 employees, until August 2025.
