This was a groundbreaking show in the mid 80s. The writers dared to cover topics that were only hinted at or half-talked about at the time. All the show's characters were strong in their own way and the delivery of the lines had amazing timing. The Golden girls will probably remain one of the best comedy sitcom of all times.
