true, but nobody else from that era, or even the 50s or 60s would either. I think the only way to really be as fair as possible is to compare how good players were for their time. obviously someone like cobb(who's been my favorite since I was a kid) wouldn't be anywhere near as dominant if he was plopped into a MLB game today, considering back then most pro players had second jobs for the rest of the year, weren't groomed as young children at camps and by mentors, didn't have the advantage of modern sports medicine, training, equipment, swing coaches, etc., the difference between the star players, the average players, and the poor players was much larger, and so on(not to mention he played at a time when the population of the u.s. was way smaller, thus less of a talent pool, and he played before the integration of black players.) if we are talking the greatest overall player ever(meaning pure talent), it would most likely be someone like A-Rod, not some legendary player like Wagner, Cobb, Ruth, etc.)

@@r.crompton2286 Why not? Before steroids Bonds was the best player in baseball. Just look at his offensive stats in the 1990s. Not to mention that he won 8 Gold Gloves in the 90s as well. His 5-Tool dominance was crazy. If you ignore his video game numbers he achieved with steroids, he is still a Hall of Famer.
The Coaster Reviews You ask me, "Why not?" Well, your comments are subjective rather than historical fact. Nobody knows when Bonds began using steroids. You make it sound as though MLB players never juiced in the 90's. That's not true and you should know it.The fact Bonds used steroids (never mind whenor how often) should disqualify him and all other juicers from election to Cooperstown. I'm sure that's the opinion of the majority of baseball fans.
@@r.crompton2286 Barry Bonds was "suspected" of taking steroids in 1999. Just look at a before and after picture. It is clear as day when he started to take them. Not to mention that he most likely took them out of jealousy. Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa were all juiced up, shattering homerun records, & taking the spot light. Barry Bonds may have been a terrible person, but there is no denying how good he was.
@@r.crompton2286 Not to mention the stats as well. While his homeruns skyrocketed, his stolen bases declined. Slowly, he was going from a 5-tool player to a slugger. Naturally when you get bigger, you get slower. This happened to Barry Bonds. In 1999, he did not steal at least 20 bases which was the first time in a long time for him.

I Love Your Hate oh I agree, he isn't the best ever, id consider him one of the best, if you include how dominate of a postseason player he was with 2 world series MVPs and a series he didn't win in which he pitched 3 starts in 68 including 2 fantastic starts and one good one, he once struck out 17 baters in the world series against Detroit. On top of his 11 fantastic regular seasons, accumulating over 3000 strikeouts, 250+ wins. I'd say the best ever would be Walter Johnson, or Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, Greg Maddux, Cy Young, Warren sphan.
@Butch Jones Actually Mickey didn't even make Casey Stengel's all time team but it only because Casey said that he never put in as much work as what he thought he should have and that Mickey was actually a player of unrealized potential. Think about that... Mickey would make my team though just because the dude was a natural slugger. It might have been on the Ken Burns doc but somewhere I saw Mickey say that he had a conversation with Ted Williams at an all star game about hitting and tried to take a "scientific" approach to it like Ted did and wound up going like 0 for his next 30. LOL! He said after that he just had to go back to doing things the simple way and that's what worked for him. I'm 37 and never even came near actually watching him play but when I think baseball I always think Mickey Mantle. He's just a straight up legend.

There are so many players that would have to be in that line uo you are guaranteed to leave out a bunch. Especially in the oufield. Joe DiMaggio and Mickie Mantel aren't there either, nor is Ty Cobb's closest modern equivalent (except a MUCH nicer guy) Ichiro. Ichiro has the single season hits record, the all time hits record across top level professional baseball (Pete Rose wants to count the minors, in which case he barely edges out Ichiro, which is some BS there), and among the highest career averages in the modern era.
ty cobb has been my favorite since I was a kid. probably the best hitter of all time(for the age one plays in), not to mention an incredible base runner. problem, he was an absolutely terrible outfielder. sure, you could arguably put him at DH, but DHs are generally power hitters(though cobb's baserunning skills, high RBI and runs scored counts could potentially make up for it.)

強盗慶太 Ty Cobb wouldn’t be hitting like he did in 1900’s my friend. Pitching has evolved!
true, but nobody else from that era, or even the 50s or 60s would either.
I think the only way to really be as fair as possible is to compare how good players were for their time.
obviously someone like cobb(who's been my favorite since I was a kid) wouldn't be anywhere near as dominant if he was plopped into a MLB game today, considering back then most pro players had second jobs for the rest of the year, weren't groomed as young children at camps and by mentors, didn't have the advantage of modern sports medicine, training, equipment, swing coaches, etc., the difference between the star players, the average players, and the poor players was much larger, and so on(not to mention he played at a time when the population of the u.s. was way smaller, thus less of a talent pool, and he played before the integration of black players.)
if we are talking the greatest overall player ever(meaning pure talent), it would most likely be someone like A-Rod, not some legendary player like Wagner, Cobb, Ruth, etc.)
DEREK JETER greatest shortstop of all rime
Honus Wagner,Man.
No way Derek Jeter is the GOAT
@@famaquino3852 A-Rod is the GOAT when it comes to shortstops and its not even close.
If u like guys who took steroids arod is the goat
@@spydergurl4551 Agreed Spyder, Wagner had over 1,700 rbi and runs scores, as well as more than 700 stolen bases, more than 600 doubles, and more than 200 triples. No one comes close. He also hit .329
ryne sandberg is a much better second baseman than morgan.
wade Garrett Absolutely
Ken Griffey jr in centre come on guys
Bonds need to be replaced!!!!!
eroediv1 No juicers qualify for this team!

I'm surprised nobody put up Rickey Henderson or Ken Griffey Jr. Those 2 were beyond amazing players.

First base Albert Pujols. Best initial 10 years in the history of the game. Best pitcher Bob Gibson. 1.12 ERA. So dominating they changed the mound. Love me some Sandy Koufax too.
Pujols is the bes.t he's my favorite.
That's what I was thinking. Take Dontrelles team and take A-Rod out, put Jeter there. Hank Aaron in right, Pujols at first, Ruth at DH, keep Nolan as pitcher. Jeter and Nolan are because they're my personal favorites, A-Rod at short is arguably the best hitting SS of all time
Elijah Banaag second basemen and entered the big leagues at first
I Love Your Hate in 1968 Bob Gibson pitched to a 1.12 ERA best in modern history and they lowered the mound next year
I Love Your Hate oh I agree, he isn't the best ever, id consider him one of the best, if you include how dominate of a postseason player he was with 2 world series MVPs and a series he didn't win in which he pitched 3 starts in 68 including 2 fantastic starts and one good one, he once struck out 17 baters in the world series against Detroit. On top of his 11 fantastic regular seasons, accumulating over 3000 strikeouts, 250+ wins. I'd say the best ever would be Walter Johnson, or Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, Greg Maddux, Cy Young, Warren sphan.

I legit wanted a mickey Mantle
Hmmmn- no
Grizz Grizzly nope.
No Mickey Mantle?
Nope
@@SimpleManGuitars1973 Think about the fact that a guy was a first ballot HOFer, triple crown winner, #18 all time in HR (and half of those ahead of him under suspicion of steroids) one of only 4 players in history to have 350 BA and 50 HR in a season, etc etc....and most of what you ever hear about him is about unrealized potential and how great he "could have been". That's just amazing to me.

Where is Ty Cobb
? He's probably the best player in history
hard to top Willie Mays in center field
I'd put Cobb anywhere I could.
He'd be my DH and lead off hitter.
