    Hi Mike. After six years in the Navy as a Heavy Equipment Operator, I worked for 35 years in the Geotechnical Engineering field. I ran a Mobile Drill B-50 truck mounted drilling rig, dozers and backhoes for about 12 years collecting soil samples for construction recommendations. At the same time I worked in the lab running mechanical tests on soil and material samples and then provided supplies and ran a fleet of 80 vehicles for 45 field technicians and 20 staff personnel. I spent the next 21 years managing soils and materials testing laboratories and overseeing field testing operations for various firms here in the San Diego and Temecula areas. I enjoy watching you work and the progress you've made. Keep it up. And, thanks.
    P.S.: I had a special needs brother (Downs). Tom led a blessed life. We spent a lot of time with him. I love that Hunter is there and included in your daily lives, too. Kudos to you and Melissa.

    Wife and I had an 80 ac farm. Usually about 50 head of cattle, 100+ goats, 60 Llamas, 11 Camels, 5 Tibetan Yaks and a Zebra. Now in our 70's we sold out and bought 13acres on top of a mountain with a 360 degree view. We built a small home and take care of it with an Exmark, a Ventrac 4500Z with bucket /grapple, power rake and a brush hog . Hi Mike, this is your neighbor to the north in Caledonia NY. I am retired, but wore many hats in my working career . I ended up as an aero space technician. I started out as a control systems electrician, then added hydraulics to my trouble shooting and repair skills. I serviced plastic injection molding machines and their support equipment for several years. I was an industrial firefighter at a large film making company and a stationary engineer running steam and refrigeration plants. I became a supervisor for a highly talented team that serviced all sorts of equipment and systems for an aero space company. That was my professional life. I was also a volunteer firefighter, leader for Boy & Girl Scouts, My family was into rustic camping, by canoe and backpacking. I have cousins who were into forest work. They got timber contracts for State land in managed forests. One did logging for lumber, one did fire wood and another harvested logs for his Father in law who built log homes. I worked in the forest with them, it was play for me. Now I am a hobby welder fabricator and am getting set up to do some blacksmithing. My wife and I each have an older Mustang we take to car shows and drag race. Hey, you asked!!!

I have 20 heavily wooded acres in the South Cumberland Mountains of TN, mostly white and red oak. I'm using the tractor to clear a little bit of it. I'm cutting firewood and saving saw logs for later purchase of a sawmill (one equipment learning curve at a time!). Your channel was a big help as i was figuring out what kind of tractor and implements I need. Very happy with the purchase so far. I like that having the tractor gives me lots more things to do outdoors in the wintertime. I keep bees and the busy season with them is spring/summer, so it's nice to add timber work to that mix so I can have projects going all year.

    I lead an organization providing supports and services to people with a developmental disability and autism. We reside in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. I own a John Deere 3033r tractor with cab. Tractor was useful as we built most of our home and landscaped ourselves. Mostly used now to bring firewood closer to the house for burning and for snow removal. Loved the heated cab and MK Martin rear-mount snowblower. Really enjoy your videos. Find them calming and relaxing. Of course you and Melissa are doing all the work!

    Just curious, with that tractor and loaded tires why don’t you use forks and get 4 pine logs at a time?

    • @erkeltree
      @erkeltree 3 роки тому

      The tractor bounces thru the woods, if the logs were on forks they could and would bounce off the forks . With the jaws the logs are secure, well unless the tractor flips.

    Hello Mike, I live in upstate N.Y. I was a mechanical designer for Welch Allyn Inc for 36 years. The most fun over those years was when we designed and built our own machines to make the miniature halogen and arc lamps used in our medical products. They offered early retirement so I retired at 58 last Dec.
    Like you I am always busy so I ordered a Kubota MX6000 with the following, Wallenstein skidding winch, snow blower, land plane, firewood bucket, grapple, forks, and a front mount post hole digger. Also ordered a Logrite tractor log arch 36" and a beewize 16 ft dump trailer. With all the equipment I will be logging our hardwoods that we have owned since 1987

    Hey Mike and Melissa. I'm a retired watcher. I grew up on a WI farm some 70 years ago at the dawn of tractor powered farming. I grew up loving tractors especially the green ones, My love for machinery led me into engineering. I landed in the aerospace industry where I specialized in control systems. After twenty years as a working engineer, I graduated to Management for ten years before getting fired at 55. I then did consulting work for a few years and fully retired at 70. Along the way I grew a family and also built and test flew two experimental aircraft. Sometime back there I fabricated my own front-end loader for an old JD 140 garden tractor. it worked great.. Even though my career was in electronics and aviation, I have continued my life long fascination with machinery especially the smaller equipment. Your channel fits me well. Thanks for being there.
