I was in Siem Reap a few years ago. But I have not been back to PP since 1997. The place has changed so much. In 97 it was dangerous to walk the streets after dark and the roads were deserted at night.

I am very surprised how fast The cuty growths within a year. just 10 year ago development was slow or nothing at all but now it very crazy to see how far the city have come in 10 years
Any idea what those buildings are being used for? A sport complex possibly? I have seen in the countryside where these type of buildings are used as volleyball courts.
A couple of decades back they might have built it the same in the west, i.e. with no concern for the workers lives. Fortunately we have moved on. For those that take over the apartment at least they still have a few trees to look at, and it could have been worst, it could have been yet another high rise block.
Ryan, the game with the metal ball, Khmer people call it BUL, pronounce ( BOOL). I love that game, and don't want to brag, but I paid for a use car playing that game here in the U.S
So many parallels with my solo life here in Bangkok but, you document it cool! Did I hear a line from the IT Crowd, "The problem with (?) they always try to walk it in?" or is that a sub-reference? Either way, there's something happen here...ain't exactly clear, but thank you!
When I was there last year I thought the pm2.5 was worst in May/June. The trillion tuk tuks don't help. I like PP but not sure I can handle the smog. I'm thinking of Siem Reap next. Big difference on the pollution?
Just got back from a month in Cambodia. Loved my time there, and will most likely move there in the future. That is one fugly building for sure. There is just so much construction going on all at the same time. Sihanoukville is even worse with skeleton buildings that ran out of funding during covid.
smart air filters. get one of those for your apartment if the air quality reading is flashing red. your older self will thank your younger selves for it.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap i couldn't write the link bc yt wants to rule the world. they are based in asia, but also they have some plan where you just buy a house air filter and bungee cord it onto a fan and that seems to work too. doesn't even have to be loud if you keep the windows shut.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap it does look funny, but very practical I guess, gravity right in the centre, easy on back , especially whose workers have that kind of jobs on daily basis, funny but actually very smart.
Wouldn't be great to track down and imprison the scum who think it's fine to let people work in these conditions. What makes me sad is that it will never happen. Like the trucks filled with garment factory workers standing like cattle ..
Would be nice all workers being looked after, however third world countries have not gotten that stage yet. No one deserved to imprisoned, at least they provided the jobs. Otherwise these workers would be living in worse condition. Just appreciated how lucky we are living in a better country that’s all, don’t be judgmental. 👍
Exactly. If you went back in time and shutdown all the businesses that used what would now be considered shady practices, many of the companies you know and love would be gone. In time Cambodia will catch up to the western world.
Sara, let me tell you a secret. This will not last. You are better than this. You shouldn’t have to walk on eggshells and prolifically apologize as you do for just accidentally bumping into the camera like that. Find someone who will not care about the damn camera but is more worried if you are hurt or not. The situation will not change. Make preparations and then let go. You are strong and you can stand by yourself. You will then open for an opportunity to meet someone who will be good to you. I don’t know if this will be deleted before you have a chance to see but here it is.

Thanks Ryan for your info from Cambodia 🇰🇭 take care bye from milton Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Washy!! Love it!
I, too, would be salty about losing the nice grassy view to those hideous monstrosities they call buildings.

Love the safety jackets on those guys on the building and no safety equipment (with flip flops)!

I first came to Cambodia 10 years ago. It's so different now. Almost unrecognizable.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap would be nice if the weather would change also haha. Definitely a lot of tall buildings than 10 yrs ago
Interesting video. Thanks for your effort, it is kind of somber, those kids lost the field they could play sports on.
Thank you for sharing your passion for birds with us Bill.

That is what I am thinking. A sport complex so that the people can use it in all weather. I hope it is...
I thought maybe that too. I'll go check it out in a month and follow up.
wow looks like you manage to bring the old balcony with you to the new place, definitely not a screen that is green.
😨😜05:30 those kids were playing Australian Rules football....in Cambodia!!! Should send that footage to AFL headquarters in Melbourne :)
Maybe I'll do that.
Love you from CAMBODIA 🇰🇭🥰
Would be interesting to see a Cambodia VS Ecuador after 1 year thing

Yes. Definitely could have been worse.
Really like your new haircut, Ryan.
Sportin a great look.
Unsure about seeing you so totally clean shaven, though...
New video out tomorrow with the old disheveled Ryan.
That is some serious rainfall. You should have tried to find out what that building was for. Was it a new school?
Your intro song is so good. What song is it? Also I'm in Quito Ecuador right now because of you.

That's great. Thanks for the info too.
I lived and worked in Phnom Penh 1977 to 1979. Then ran to Thailand. Becoming a hell hole. King fled. So did I. 😎

Hmmmmm what else can I say ?? Maybe using that washing machine to prove it's not just a cardboard cut out :

I find Siem Reap a bit drier and dustier, but the pollution levels must be lower.
