    When I gave up all processed foods, the compulsive behavior stopped. Food corporations are evil. Carnivore saved my life.

    Best interview I've seen/ heard in a long time! Thank you, ladies😊 I can relate so much to Cindy's story. I'm 58. I guess it's never too late to get healthy and happy 😁 Maria, I would love for you to interview Cindy again sometime.

    Awesome 🎉 conversation! While às a child, we didn't have tons of junk food, no sugary cereals or things like that, no soda, no chips in our home, they were available at family gatherings or celebratory events. So food means celebrations, positive times and such. I've been low carb for years (but didn't count sugar in that). I was basically a sugar addict. I was low carb so I could then have sugar, which made up my carb load! Yes I was terribly addicted. I'm a recovering addict.

    I was strict keto for 2 years, ketoish for a year, meaning I let 'comfort carb-creep' slip in when mom got sick and died...not off plan, but too much 'keto food' so yea technically off plan...now I'm ketovore, dangerously close to carnivore...but newly discovered that mom and me had/have lipedema. Sucker punch in the stomach that has set me back a bit in my mourning...fresh layer of mourning with a favorite aunt dying last week, and mourning over a body I may never have thanks to lipedema...I purchased a 'Maria cookbook' because I resonate with the technique and am confident that this will help tremendously...but this false comforter food has a new and determined hold on me...gotta snap out of it, properly mourn (stop pushing the ball under the water) and deal with life eh?

    I must be honest I was drawn in by the title "How I broke free from food addiction." I enjoyed the interview, but for once, I would like to watch something that actually matches the title, and very little information was given how she broke free from food addiction. It would be so helpful if, at the end of the interview, steps would be listed that she took to get to Breaking Free from food addiction.

    • @jolenetaylor689
      @jolenetaylor689 3 місяці тому +6

      She started a “dirty” keto diet. Then she got cleaner and cleaner. That’s how she broke free.

    • @AskNurseCindy
      @AskNurseCindy 3 місяці тому +3

      that’s such a great comment and I’m sorry that it was not more clear. When I went to my first Keto conference and understood the damage that sugar were mentally and emotionally as well as physically, causing inside my body I looked down the road at my family that had come with me and told them I will never eat. Processed carbs again
      in addiction recovery that’s called a single decision. It’s powerful because I don’t have to make a decision every time it’s a party or a holiday, etc. etc. As mentioned in the previous comment, at first I simply switched over to what today is called dirty Keto, but I never went back to Krispy Kreme or any other snack type food that I was eating continuously prior to my single decision. for me, overtime, it evolved as my tastebuds and my habits evolved. I hope that helps. There’s so many great food, addiction, podcasts, and or videos that if you do a search, I’m sure you will find people that are more articulate than I am with better advice.

    • @tinajohnsonPs.27
      @tinajohnsonPs.27 3 місяці тому +2

      @AskNurseCindy I must admit I've made that decision many times only to fail. I'm a diabetic and struggle with sugar addiction. You are an inspiration, and I will keep trying. Thank you for sharing!

    I broke a chair at my desk in grade 3, like Nurse Cindy, I was born in 1957, started with real food and soon my mother became a modern mom and purchased some of those processed, sugary and chemical laden foods

    Oh my goodness- I struggled with reactive hyperglycemia for years. I had an endocrinologist (early 70’s) tell me that many years ago- that I over produced insulin, so I never had to worry about getting diabetes! If only I knew then what I know now, the pain and struggles I could have avoided.

    What a treat to watch this video. I was on the Low Carb cruise with you awesome women last month. My hubby of 60 years came with me and attended the seminars. We are blessed to enjoy our retirement in Satellite Beach, just 20 minutes south of Port Canaveral. We are both carb addicts, but I try to stick to a PHD and carnivore while he continues to consume a SAD diet, while snacking on cookies and ice cream. DH follows my request (most of the time) to buy flavors and brands I don't like so I don't fall from grace! 🤣 Thanks Maria and Cindy for your genuine inspiration❣

    I work in corporate America and back in late 2000’s and early 2010’s we would be asked by management how we want to be rewarded each quarter the majority of people would say food. (Like a pizza party with dessert) They were very passionate too! I’m sitting there like, ‘I would like to be paid more’. Thankfully now people are requesting the money over the food.

    This video is a welcome break from the relentless fat phobia in all diet circles, including carnivore where fat people are also told it's their fault for not taking responsibility for their health sooner... as if listening to what every doctor and every health publication has to say and following the food pyramid is somehow your fault and a sign of irresponsibility. You are expected to just guess that you should be doing the exact opposite of what everybody has been telling you to do for decades. You should've been a psychic... somehow. Thanks for not punishing the victims.

    Thank you so much for this informative interview I too I too was like Cindy growing up in Midwest and when you have someone make something you felt obligated to eat it😮 I love the science I love the science-based background from you both I started I started simple play reading keto magazine from Dr Berg doctor Berg, then found slimfast keto, leading to net carbs then to total carbs, then to carnivore a bit, but my husband found Maria's site last year and now I am making several recipes I'm truly seeing how it will benefit me especially with what you said in the end❤ I truly want to heal my gut ,be healthier😊 God bless you both
