One thing I love about Denzel is he never falters. He sticks with his guns and I'm sure he's also sick and tires of people constantly bringing up "fixing the race" issue. I'm just glad he sticks to his belief.

As a writer, I have to highly recommend Denzel Washington’s movie Unstoppable. It’s an excellent example of how to write a movie, where everything in the movie has a part to play, everything is there for a reason, it’s spot-on perfectly plotted in regards to pacing, etc. and it’s just a fun movie and you know exactly what you’re going to get when you sit down to watch it: a runaway train endangering lives. Fun movie, very entertaining, and I love Denzel’s character in it.

His graduation speech speaks a lot to me. My daughter (technically step) struggles with goals and CONSISTENCY.

My respect for Denzel probably couldn't be any higher. You can almost feel the passion pouring out of him when he speaks

His speech at the end, made my cry...If more people had this kind of mindset and wisdom, we could live in a really better world. And i love the fact that he talking about consistency in work and not motivation. Motivation comes and goes, consistency is about commitment to set a goal and work every day on it til you reached it. and then set another goal and so on. Thanks Alex, i needed this. And thanks to Mr. Denzel Washington.

I also love Larry Elder's story. It's very inspirational. Look into that if you ever get a chance. His story made my heart sad, happy, and thankful all at once. Definitely a story to hear

Denzel's humility, wisdom, and blunt honesty is a breath of fresh air in the cesspool of crap we get exposed to everyday, I really enjoyed your perspective on this. Oh and as an aside, the fact that you've only seen Training Day is an absolute travesty - you literally have a movie reaction channel and could make September "Denzel Washington Month" 😁😁. Deja Vu, American Gangster, and The Equalizer are a few of my personal favorites.

This is one of the best speeches I have heard in these past few years and Denzel delivers on wisdom, faith and what it means to be human. We need to learn and surround ourselves with people like Denzel in our lives. Great things will happen!

  • TheLivingBoris

Denzel is one deep , loving and extremely self aware human being! Bless him!

I'm a single father to three. My wife died. My life revolves around providing for my kids, both financially and mentally. They need to understand life. I have many more kids who aren't mine, but they know they can live in my home for as long as they need. I don't judge. I ask questions, they provide the answers. I'm not financially wealthy, but I'm a rich man. I will die happy knowing the children I've raised and I've helped will make the world a little bit better by being a part of it.

I could listen to Denzel speak all day and not get bored. He has so much to say and is so wise.

  • carrie roberts

Alex, have you ever read or listened to Thomas Sowell????? He's on par with Jordan Peterson. So smart, it's scary. He's 91, so I would take the time to check him out.

  • phillippi2

This makes me want to hear your reaction to Thomas Sowell. He's been talking about this since he started teaching in the '60s. There is a common denominator between crime and intelligence; the amount of attention that the child receives from BOTH parents. If the parents pay more attention to their kids, they will become more intelligent and become substantially less likely to commit crimes.

I always thought Denzel was a great actor & very handsome, masculine man. But after watching this I'm more impressed with his smarts & heart. He speaks wisdom & truth. Motivates instead of stirring hate.

  • Ross Perrine

I get the “father” concept… grew up in a ghetto… was the only one of my friends that had a “father”in my home but for much of my childhood he was working, drinking, or off to war… I went and found a family on the street too… and it’s a miracle I’m not locked up or dead…

"Don't confuse movement with progress".. Such a powerful line, well said sir!

  • Tim Coffman

Denzel has always been one of my favorite actors. HIs intelligence, eloquence and advice. What a stand up man, with an opportunity to make positive change. For all the people trying to disassemble the traditional values such as a family are doing nothing but hurting our nation. Hopefully more people listen to Denzel, than the outliers who have the loudest voices.

That speech was moving. I remember a story about him visiting a building site for Fisher House (look it up). They were building homes for families to be near military rehab patients. He asked how much to complete the three homes they were trying to build.......and wrote out a check for the full amount, right there on the spot.
