Exactly. The Saw Lancers didn’t come around until when the Locust show up. From what I read: Each game had it a different writer. Karen Traviss did part 3, and a lot of the novels (by far my favorite). The standard that the Lancers was her’s. So it’s understandable why we see modern lancers in part 2. But that’s a good eye to notice.
Gears 3 is my favourite but Gears 2's story is the literal definition of chefs kiss! Hope you're enjoying this one as much as I did back on my first playthrough!

It’s good you went through the training cuz it gives you extra lore! Like how this trainee is Anthony carmines brother (the guy who got sniped in the first one). Also this chainsaw is better you can even chainsaw duel! If a locust revs up theirs and is coming at you rev up yours!! Im only saying cuz the game doesnt really teach you if I remember correctly. You’ll still get stunned if you rev it up while getting shot at but if you rev it and hold before you take damage you can maintain it! It was something we learned from the trailers and devs talking about it before it released! You’ll still get stunned if you rev it up while under fire and taking damage tho. If you rev it before you take damage you can maintain it tho just careful not to rush in to a group of enemies cuz you’ll die lol always use it when a guy is alone or a little separated from the main group or just the last one alive. Also yes a lot of your questions will be answered and you’ll get a lot of extra lore from those collectibles! You’re going to LOVE this adventure!
You can perform special executions on the crawling locust after you “down” them. I grew up playing this franchise, I’m glad you are enjoying it. It’s crazy seeing someone experience it all for the first time 😮
A few different mechanics were introduced in Gears 2 and onwards. First of all you can punch with B while holding a grenade to stick the grenade to an enemy which will explode a few seconds later. Second enemies that are crawling can be executed or using A you can pick them up and use them as a meat shield.
I am glad you found an original copy of the game with the manual included! I am so disappointed that newer games no longer have the manual booklet with physical copies. The amount of nostalgia I've felt watching you play this is unreal, I am considering hooking up my old 360 to play all my old games again.

Ah Gears 2! Been looking forward to you going through this one, I love Gears 1 but this is the game that truly made me fall in love in the series as a whole and is my 2nd favourite behind Gears 3. Probably has my favourite opening act of any of the games too, the scale of assault on Landown is just epic. Yeah, the enemies being downed isn't a new thing you could down them in the original but you couldn't crawl when downed in the original game, you'd just be stationery. It wasnt a major common thing to down them in the original game, you'd have to aim them in knees or legs to down them for the most part. So cool to see you have the physical copy as well, I miss the era of physical games and media, always loved going through the manuals of games and reading through them, unfortunately by the end of the 360 era that had all died out.
I knew you couldn’t resist coming back for more! The locust crawling on the floor is part of the revival mechanic; if you’re hit too many times, you don’t immediately die and have a small amount of time to be revived by allies (dom-do-dom-dom), and can use downed locust as meat shields…or just execute them, which is always fun.
First things first, killer nails 💅 totally with you on the manuals point as well, I think if more effort like that was still put into physical copies I wouldn't have switched. So much care and love and design and even story can get put into those things - these days it's all saved up for the £100+ collector's edition. Anyway, how exciting that you've started this - such a great game. I think I have fond memories as by this time I was a 360 owner on release and jumped right into the right with the boys. I know you aren't one for multiplayer but the MP in this game was such a turning point - more brilliant memories. You're in for a crackin' time with this, really glad you're enjoying it so far and well done for getting to grips with it all straight away. Anyway, have a crackin' day boss.

So glad you’ve started GoW2. You’ll definitely get much more expansion on the lore this time round. I guess after the success of the first game the devs really leaned into it more. Also, enemies that are crawling around can be executed when you approach them. It doesn’t give you anything, but its a lot of fun. Some of the weapons, primary and pistols, have unique executions as well. So be sure to try them out if you’re ever carrying a new gun and the opportunity presents itself. They expand on the executions further in Gears Of War 3 too. Something to look forward too. Anyways, looking forward to the next upload!
don't forget that you can do different executions when the locust are crawling in the ground. just choose the weapon that you want to do the execution and enjoy.👍

Gears of War 2 it is! Nice touch with the bad guys getting injured and crawling away. That speech was something else. You will adjust to the aiming difference but you did well regardless.
Those little guys that go under the rigs and explode are called tickers, you’ll run into them later again, they are very easy to kill but they are very annoying. Also, when the locust crawl away it means that they are down and waiting for their mates to revive them so it’s best to kill them as soon as possible (I had no idea gears of war 1 didn’t have down but not out thing.. interesting 🤔)
Tip: hold down RB at the same time as firing the turret to immediately cool it down. When enemies are crawling you can finish them off by pressing X or Y, or use as a meat shield with A. You can shoot the hooks to stop the Locust from grappling up a ledge.
Games dont do Player books anymore because most devs dont always have all around passion for the games. Gears had short ads-- sad and everything else was focused on giving to the people. Thats why gears trilogy will always be loved

Maria's parents were confirmed dead since her kids (who died on E-day) were with them; Dom's parents are suspected to be dead. Maria disappeared sometime in 4AE, meaning Dom's been searching for her for roughly 10 years

This’ll probably be your favorite Gears among the old ones, it’s got the best lore found in collectibles, the story is very high stakes and engaging, the set pieces are sick, the minor characters are very memorable, etc. Take your time soaking in and exploring the environments, it’ll help you go off the beaten path to find the collectibles which actually contribute some relevant information to your questions about the world the game is set in!

A lore based location. Jacinto is the last city on Sera that is not taken or destroyed by the Locust for the past 15 years since. The city is on a Plateau that Marcus said that the Locust couldn’t get through. And the city in the last game Timgad, was located on the Jacinto Plateau. But like you saw in the hospital, Tai said many people are suffering from Rustlung. What you didn’t know Jonesy is that most of the people in the hospital came from Timgad, the city where we did the light mass bombing and it became too dangerous for stranded who were still living there. 😊.
8:30 in this game, there’s now a mixture of collectibles and cog tags that you can get. Pretty cool huh? Plus, most of the collectibles are lore based stuff from the world and events currently. 😊❤️
That was extremely good gameplay from you Jonesy, some things you gotta try, when you shoot the locust in the knee, they’ll go into revive mode and when you get close to them you’ll get to do a cool execution, Y is punching them (it varies with the weapon you have), X is stomping on them, which is what carmine did, A for grabbing them, you can still shoot, snap their neck with X, holding B will allow you to chainsaw them, you gotta try chainsawing again, they made it better now so you won’t get interrupted and you can initiate a chainsaw fight by holding B with another person that has the lancer rifle. It’s good you have a shotgun, gotta make sure you’re close to deal maximum damage, continue playing so you’ll learn more about what’s going on. Have fun, love you
You're in for a RIDE. Gears 2 has the best story in the series and the scales are increased considerably. While Gears 1 had a post-apocalyptic horror vibe, taking place in Locust territory and wading through a ruined city filled with monsters. Gears 2 shows us the frontlines of the war, with COG and Locust armies engaging each other in set piece battles.
Shooting a man on his sick bed doesnt go towards your kill tally you know 😅 Great to see you continuing the Gears story, also great to see you picked up the physical copy 👍

How do you like the graphics? I know it’s sort of a downgrade from the remastered. But it’s the mixture of the last game original graphics and the new updated ones. Same year as GTA 4. 2008. ❤️

Oh yes Jonesy. Idk if you saw “Coming Soon” or something in the main menu. But there’s a story dlc in this game called “Road to Ruin.” And it’s pretty cool. But I highly advise doing it when you finish gears of war 2. If you plan to do it. 😊❤️

How do you like the graphics? I know it’s sort of a downgrade from the remastered. But it’s the mixture of the last game original graphics and the new updated ones. Same year as GTA 4. 2008. ❤️
The phrase " I like the glow of the grub blood in this light", is a reference to a popular phrase from Apocalypse Now.
Gears 2 is such a great game, there are some absolutely hype sections but it is missing a certain enemy from the 1st game

Trying to catch up with you Jonesy. Coming to the end of the first game myself. I did a bit of research after a previous video and found there aren’t any Brumak statues but you can get Brumak funko pops if you want one by your bedside
The game is more fun when you get closer to the enemies and use different weapons. Whe a locust is crawling you can do an execution. It will be different depending on the weapon you have

@@JonesySpaceCat oh I remember a live broadcast iirc where you said about taking time off due to a loss and then getting stuff remodeled as well.
Would've been nice if they did a remake or even just added it to a collection like what Halo did with the Master Chief Collection. That said, GOW2 still looks good for a 2008 game.
