  • This vehicle was towed to the shop from NJ to Philly, as customer stated he's had ongoing issues with an intermittent no crank condition. He had replaced the PNP switch and still had issues. The shop had no other history on the vehicle besides that. The shop also mentioned that the shift interlock solenoid was inoperative and they removed all the panels for the shifter and surrounding.
    I go through my diagnostic process, step by step to figure out what the issue was.

    It's easy to get side tracked by problems you don't even know that you created. It's like fixing a no crank only for it to still not crank and you're here scratching your head....not realizing you forgot to reinstall the crank relay 🤣. Great work. You pulled through as always

      🤣🤣🤣 absolutely Jonathan! The trick is to persevere and have patience. It's real easy to get frustrated and start throwing tools or just failing to step back & start over again.
      I always enjoy your vids too, as you always seem to succeed in the end no matter how much of a POS a vehicle is.
      Feliz año nuevo amigo! 😊🎉🎆

    Your video inspired me. I got 2008 Chevy Cobalt 2.4 Sports dead car. It was working find and died. The ground wires at the fond engine location like in your video look find on my car visually, but I decided to disconnect and clean them. As I took them off, I found them corroded inside. I fixed and now the car starts fine. Thanks. Your speech makes a lot of noise. All other behaviors of yours are fine. Don't make "noises" while you talk. Talk only the necessity briefly.

    Hi there Ms. Cuba. Great job on this case study! If I followed correctly, the whole problem was a bad ground. It's nice that you have a place to work outside the elements and before you know it, you will have a whole building to yourself.

    • @CubasAutomotive
      @CubasAutomotive  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, out of the elements for the 1st time in over 15 yrs.... with the exception of the shops I have calling me for diags, as if it's inclement weather, they'll bring the cars in for me.
      Yes, you are correct. A bad clump of grounds. Many vehicles utilize individual grounds to certain sensors or circuits, I think to cut down on noise and such. Had I stuck to my process, that conclusion would've been more obvious. My apologies. I kept the mistake in the footage.... just to emphasize that need to stick to a methodical method. Don't jump around.
      Merry Christmas J T!! Hope you're doing well, that your Christmas was amazing! I'm also wishing you a happy new year!!🎉🎆😊😉

    Yes, always put the transmission in park when doing this lol. Sometimes you learn the hard way that it makes a difference. I once had a Taurus where the Shifter cable head had come off from the range selector and if it wasn't in the right position, the brake pedal would not disengage the lock solenoid because it knows there is a discrepancy between the actual shifter location and the range sensor lol

    Wish that was my son's car that was fixed. We've had it at a dealer. $600 ECM and labor for $883 total. Next day, no start again. Back tot he dealer, said relay and wire. Yesterday, stuck at store......you guessed it, no crank. After 3 tows we now have to take it back AGAIN for the same no crank that they can't seem to fix for more than 50 miles. Son's has to start school 3 hours away and his 01 Dodge pickup with 197k miles has less issues than this 09 Cobalt with 87k miles. Hopefully it's just a ground......

      @CubasAutomotive  Рік тому

      What area of the country are you? There's quite a few of us YTers or diagnosticians all over. Maybe 1 of us is close enough to fix it right? Or the ground is your issue. I've had a few viewers tell me it fixed their vehicle too. Good luck!

      We took it to a highly recommended mechanic not to far away. The original brand new starter I put in failed. He had it on the lift and everytime someone turned the key a few little sparks showed. So he "popped it" with the end of a wrench (I've done that before on my bike, until I got a new starter for it) and the car started. Starter solenoid. Put in ANOTHER new starter (local auto parts just sent a new one over to his shop after doing paperwork over the phone for the warranty) and I've started it multiple times and put 50 miles on it yesterday. Crossed fingers it does good the next couple of days. Son has to use it to go to school in Houston, TX for Diesel Tech. We're across the border in Louisiana. Though the roof anxiety it does good.

      hahahahahahahaha!!!! SOOOO GOOD to hear from you my friend! This is the 2nd most favorite part of YT, the networking, the talking to friends, the sharing of knowledge and helping others. My 1st favorite part is the making of... hmmm ... recording part... where I'm doing the work and trying to show "the people" at the same time as if they were in the shop with me. I try to answer questions that might come up as if there are people completely new to the diag process.
      Yeah, not my own shop, but I have my own diag bay... i can send customers to or have shops ship the vehicles to me, especially when they are torn all apart, I'll have the ability to take my time within the shop. I have been knocking out all sorts of tremendous case studies in such a little amount of time. I think cases that would have taken me 2 to 3 trips at a few hours at a time. I feel so strong in the diagnostic procedure with most vehicles, and getting better with programming (mostly domestics). Euros are still problematic but improving there too.
      Merry Christmas Carlos!! Happy New Year.... I truly hope the new year will bring you great blessings!! (insert HUG emojis) (lol I'm on the PC typing, :( no emojis)

      go 300 feet across building and out of attic/crawlspace and ""what was I supposed to get?"" you then find your drink, grab some things, walking/crawling some 300 feet back, and then just before reaching the work area, you remember what you was supposed to bring back. lol
