Astral always giving the best late night drive playlists. There’s nothing like cruising to this playlist with the city lights and hearing your engine at the same time. Always been a fan since my early college years studying. You got me through some of the hardest nights and even some of my buddies. Keep doing you bro!!
Been a supporter for the past six years-- maybe seven. Gotta say, it sucks seeing you promote AI generated images like this. I would listen to these playlists when I was a kid, drawing late into the night, with no other concerns. It would make bearing through each day just so I could listen to your playlists at night worth it. The musical artists you shared through these playlists have become such an integral part of my life now, and it was through your channel. There are countless real artists out there who would love to be featured on these playlists through their art. It's disheartening to see that this is what you're choosing to favor over real art. As an artist, an enthusiast, and a long-time supporter, I really hope you reconsider. For now, I won't be supporting this channel any more.
Despite responses, I think @synth_cities makes a valid point. The problem of generative AI stealing actual artists' work to generate bland images is real. It's ironic that a channel that has merch which says "I am not a robot" would use these. I love this channel, and I hope at some point it would be able to return to work by new artists!
I think Astral is still featuring "real" artist over at their Instagram just not here. I think they mentioned once that they are tired of getting their videos reported/strikes from original artists in which harmed the musician from getting their songs featured. Maybe this is a way to streamline their process since their are churning mixes every week. Maybe the channel is operated by 1 person (which might explain the long hiatus last year) so if Ai images helps that poor soul to keep churning out awesome mixes like this. Why not?
Also, i think Astral is mainly supporting musicians/producers instead of artists. Dont get me wrong, artists should be supported as well but then this channel is a music channel. I personally for one will just blast the mix at background without even looking at the thumbnail or images. I listen with my ears and heart, not my eyes.
