In a way Garbo decided that she didnt want her fans to witness her growing old. By leaving "while the music was still playing" so to speak, She ensured that she would forever be remembered as the extraordinary, beautiful woman she was.
Penso sia questa la verità, ha colto l'attimo fuggente affinché il gioco reggesse la candela. E penso anche che ne soffrisse di persona, sentendo il tempo attraversarle la vita. Una patologia comune a tante altre dive del grande cinema Hollywoodiano.
Truly the most beautiful actress of all time in my opinion. It's a shame movie backers turned on her when she got older. It wasn't her choice to stop acting. But she knew when it was over for her and never looked back. Sad because she was still so beautiful and acting was really all she knew. Garbo was so young when she came to America, she needed people to lead her. Later in life, with no real mentors in her life anymore, she stopped living, not learning new things. Realization came too late.
