    Coin pusher time! Today we go to the Coin Pusher and in this new series Arcade Hacks we are going to try to see if we can hack the coin pusher using a neodymium magnet, and a couple other methods to get free quarters
    Check out Joshua, he did a video like this with the magnet (didn't know about it at the time I recorded this, but here's the video!)

    The tape measure is definitely the right tool... what it's missing is the tape measure needs to be bent permanently, then find out which size fishing weight will keep the bent end down so that the end can act like a scrapper and pull everything.

    You would need an electro magnet the size of your torso to move those quarters.

    Measure the length between the hole and the sliding shelf. Take a coat hanger and bend the piece to smoothly. But, diagonally move inside the hole. Then use it to move the quarter from the center to each side. You will get a good amount on the sliding shelf without harming the machine.

  • @Cline3911
    @Cline3911 6 років тому +11

    I guess the joke is on them. US coinage (quarters in particular) are made mostly from non-ferrous metals, (Copper, non-magnetic, Nickel-magnetic) meaning that a magnet will not attract the coins towards the magnet. However, due to the composition of a quarter, which is copper and nickel, a magnet will possibly generate an eddy current, which will repel the coin away from the magnet, meaning you'd probably get nothing that way either. Also, strong enough rare earth magnet may erase the information on the magnetic stripe on the gift card making it worthless as well. I think you would have a better time cutting the end of the tape measure off and going right down the coin slot with it. :)

    do these machines have magnets in coin drop to keep you from using steel slugs? If not it would be possible to thin a quarter down and super glue thin steel washer then use a really strong neodymium magnet to pull that coin to the front pushing all quarters over the edge, pull magnet away from glass and your modified quarter fall out

    Try weighting the tip of the tape measure and aim the concave side towards the coins. This might allow you some control over bending, as pressing in on the sides of the measure should straighten it.

    What do you think would happen if you stuck the magnet inside of the claw machine where the quarters fall down if that doesn't work you could probably try putting the magnet with some double-sided tape on the tape measure and stick it up just like you did with the regular tape measure.

    Coins aren’t magnetic..... Note that the U.S. five cent coin called a “Nickel” is made of 75% copper and 25% Nickel (Ni). Even though it contains Nickel (Ni), a ferromagnetic material, they aren't visibly attracted to magnets.In fact, they don't interact with magnets like many other non-magnetic materials.

    Quarters are mostly plated copper. Copper does not 'stick' to a magnet will resist magnetic field motion. So if the magnet is moving quickly the coins will be more likely as well. The faster-closer-stronger the magnet the more pronounced the effect. At this distance it is unlikely to make any difference unless you had a very large magnet which would likely jump from your hand and sash on the metal around the machine.

    • @stealth3002
      @stealth3002 6 років тому +75

      MagniusThe1st If you had a much stronger magnet it would work, the moving magnetic field would creat and electic charge in the cojncs and that would make them slight electro magnets. Same reason if you slide a magnet down a copler tube it falls slowly. Thats also why the coin sticks to the magnet when he oulls it up really fast. Simple science

    If doing this in an arcade machine with tokens, would you gain an advantage if you made a neodymium magnet the size of one of their tokens? Then you could just push the magnet, picking up whatever sticks to it on the way down. Or are there parts between the slot and the playfield that the magnet would get stuck to, ruining the machine?

    to get that tape to bend as needed you need to tie or glue string to the top and to keep it near the tape put a loose loop lower down with the string through it then you will be able to bend it as needed

  • @patriotprepper3878
    @patriotprepper3878 6 років тому

    try a Electricians "Steel Fish Tape" i say steel because you can bend the end to form a hook and you could add on a bit of string to sort of guide the end to where you want to hook on to.
