    Hello, Pete, this is Luciano Pires from Café Brasil. I was very happy to hear your testimony, which was sent to me by a listener. I know that many people around the world are learning Portuguese through our podcasts, and hearing your feedback about the transcripts is very encouraging. Many people question why we include transcripts, and my response has always been: some people are learning Portuguese with them. Congratulations, your Portuguese is already excellent, and you can already travel to Brazil. If you come here, let me know! Best regards.
    Alô, Pete, aqui é Luciano Pires, do Café Brasil.

      I'll be using your podcast to learn Portuguese. Right now, I am "mining" resources from this type of videos to find other resources with transcripts, so I can speed up my learning. Thank you very much for your work! Please, keep doing this :-)

    I'm from Brazil, so Brazilian Portuguese is my native language. I managed to learn a little bit of English just by studying here in my country and practicing with my friends and teachers. I'm so happy to see the title of this video and anxious to watch you speaking BR PT LOL. Props on that pal 🎉❤

I've been learning english for almost 2 years and now I'm here in Australia, Brisbane, but don't feel good with the culture and countrie. I'm doing part of my phD research here but very soon, God willing, I'll come back for Brazil where maybe I shouldn't never go out...lol. Don't give up you are doing grait. Have I nice week.

    Hey, man. I hope you're doing well. A little advice on bilingualism: try to schedule a few days for the second language. E.g.: Monday, Wednesday, Friday are The Second Language Days. So, you can't switch to your mother tongue and forced to speak the second language at home. Except of an emergency, of course.

    Hi Pete, I just found your channel shortly before you came back to it. 👍 Lucky for me.
    I love the sound of Australian English and got inspired to lean it.
    However, reading more online, I read so many discouraging comments by Australians, I thought about dropping it completely right away. Those were comments by people saying, that no one not born in Australia could ever really master it, because not even Hollywood actors with prestigious coaches could do it. If you tried to speak Australian English in Australia as a non Australian, people would just laugh at you. And anyway, people not from Australia would be seen as people of second class anyway. 😕
    What's your opinion on this?

    • @AussieEnglishPodcast
      @AussieEnglishPodcast  3 місяці тому +1

      Hey, mate! Glad you're enjoying it. I wouldn't pay much attention to the comments. No one's going to laugh at you for trying to speak Australian English here. And most people would never treat you badly for being a migrant. The majority of Australians were now born overseas or have parents who were born overseas, so it's not unique to have an accent :D

    So Pete, something would be nice you be aware of, is ... I was born and raised in Brazil and depends on the region of Brazil the person I'm taking came from, it gets reeeelly difficult to me understand they, sometime it gets impossible. Cuz there is a some,- like this plus this, - thick accent plus different rhythm. On those cases , we have to be patients cuz this kind of situation demand time.

    • @AussieEnglishPodcast
      @AussieEnglishPodcast  3 місяці тому +2

      Yeah, definitely agree, mate. It's the same for me and certain accents in English. I think it comes down to how much you've been exposed to them. If you haven't heard them much in your life, they can be hard to understand initially.
