I have intermittent flareups as muscle and joint pain. My rheumatologist sent me over the course of six months to get blood test checked. He told me to go get my blood test while I was in flareups twice and while I was feeling really good twice, he initially thought I had fibromyalgia, but after the test confirmed the ESR was elevated during the flareups blood test, he changed it to chronic pain, he discharged me back to my family physician.
Dr. Ortiz, thank you for all the information you provide on youtube. My ESR has always been in the high 30's which is considered a low positive, along with a low positive anti-ccp. The rheumatologists in my area were reluctant to diagnose me with RA. I was in severe pain for many years with no resolution. Joint pain all over my body. It has been a difficult journey for me. I wish we had you here in California. Again, thank you for all the information.
Hi Dr Ortiz Yes I would love for you to go over the CRP and explain what normal and high levels mean. Thank you for sharing update on autoimmune conditions.
Greetings Dr. Ortiz, you are such a treasure and a wonderful blessing to so many people. With your kindness and generosity of sharing all of the incredible knowledge you have dedicated yourself to learning! Thank you for this awesome video about ESR! My esr is always 5xs the upper limit. Thank you for helping me to broaden my perspective of the many possibilities that ESR can or can not be a part of!
❤ thank you for this information am going to take to my dr and try to find a rheumatologist just been going to my gynecologist and in menopause and have sle lupus and spondylosis Ankylosing and b.a.d.a.s so now have to see what else since so many different symptoms 😢 Thank you Jesus Christ for keeping me🙌🏼💯
Very helpful info thank you. Just came off Prednisone early this year after over two years for Polymyalgia. I dont get given the results my blood tests but it still goes up. I feel like I've still got Polymyalgia at times during flareups. May be its arthritis. No more monthly blood tests now. But recent developed varicose vein edema and had emergency Cat scans as my inflammatory markers were high so got called back , but thankfully was clear of clots. I'd like to know more about the CRP also
My ESR was always mid normal, my CRP has always been low normal but SLE diagnosis when ANA and dsDNA were high. I was told CRP is normally low in lupus, unless another infection is going on, but I didn't expect it to be quite so low as it is, its low for a healthy person. So why ESR preferred for lupus over CRP apart from ESR being longer term inflammation? If in my case the ESR and CRP is low normal always, what other measures do medics use to determine if inflammation is happening other than a history which obviously they thought the history and pain were exaggerated because normal inflammation markers were low.
A CRP video would be great. 👍🏻
