But if you want a dedicated cargo ship, the C2 is just so much bigger.
I won't get rid of my Taurus. It's a Cutlass on steroids and a great all round ship, that will do most game loops. Don't have a snub dock ? No problem, the large cargo hold will fit at least 1, if not 2 Fury's ... Surprise ! Thought the Taurus was easy pickins. Not The Taurus has 2 turrets - top S2 repeaters W/360 degrees of firing arc . Bottom turret is a Tractor beam. Not sure, but Mk4 might be because, the Taurus is the 4th variant in the Conie ship line. I can't wait for the gold rework, it will make this very good ship great.
I am so happy I upgraded my starter ship to a Constellation Taurus with the white heron paint. It is such an amazing ship. Will probably upgrade it to the Gatac Railen when that is finally released.
I think a zero to hero style series once 3.23 goes public would be cool, show off all the new features like a new player would experience them. Rather than a player with the best ships straight away.

The Constellation Taurus is a great ship, I've used it for many different things and it had jumpstarted my Cargo gameplay. Also the back of the Taurus is a shielded cargo area where the scanners cannot scan contraband.
Idk why people keep saying this, shielded cargo is not implemented. And it will be one of the last features to be implemented, if at all. They've mentioned multiple times that it was a bad idea to even consider it, and will require some serious AI overhauls. We won't be getting it until after engineering, and proper AI programming... if at all.
Olli, great review m8. I agree with all of the points you made about the ship. But, for the time being. I have owned for multiple patches a Connie Taurus and i loved it. When i swapped it out for the Corsair i am not going back. Not until the entire Constellation series get a gold pass rework. And even then its gotta be really good for me to give up my janky corsair up :) The thing that i love most is the firepower difference. Cheers
I'm commenting as I'm watching the video, in case you're wondering why I'm making a bunch of comments The Taurus is the cargo variant of the Connie series. It's longer than the other ones which is why the landing gear moves forward. It's to get that same balance point the other ones have
I have all 4 versions of the Constellation. For now, they all do the same thing. As the games development and universe mature, these different constellations will have different roles. Constellation Aquila was my first big, long ranged, stay out there a long time, do anything mothership.
Right there with ya. Really hoping I can hire NPC crew and move as a fleet with them. Not holding my breath though. If it means CIG can sell more of them, they night. Its a hard choice to choose a favorite though. So close in design, yet so different in function.
When the rework is done and its gold standard I buy it again maybe but for a smaller vessel like the connie i would prefer the struds free cockpit like the Mantis. Maybe we will get a mk2 version later..
Assuming there's some currency conversion issue with buying with USD on that version of the website? Taurus is $200 USD normally in the pledge store. That aside, it's a fantastic ship. If I could only have one ship in the verse, this would be it I think.
The snub back room without a snub is where I meditate contemplating why I can't get any vehicle into this room :-) Ps love my taurus. Such a great all rounder all purpose ship whether solo or multiplayer with friends.
I have slowly CCUed up to this ship over the last 2 years. I love this ship as it will do everything in game. It does ERTs, Hauls a nice amount of cargo. It also lets me haul my rovers, bikes and the Roc around. The One thing I want them to change about the Taurus is change the cargo. The room in the back is a shieled cargo but MAN it is a pain to get cargo in. The change I want to see is for them to remove the missiles launchers over the cargo bay and add another layer for cargo. This would allow the Taurus to carry 4 32 Boxes and 4 16 SCU boxes. That would be SOOO MUCH faster to load than Two 16s and Two 32s and 24 2 SCU boxes.
I believe the extra length in engine slide is due to the Taurus being longer, the landing gear shifts to the center of gravity, and has to shift farther back than the rest of the Connie line.
Not sure if this has been answered, probably has but oh well! The nacelles move back and forth on a rail for all constellations, but the Taurus cargo section is nearly twice the length, so the nacelles travel farther on the Taurus than the other variants.
Like many others I really like the constellation series but the taurus is one of the less interesting ones for me. I got hooked by the snub fighter being docked in such a perfect way. If the Taurus had a snub instead of the (basically useless) smugglers hold it would be one of my favorite ships. But without it I just don’t get the same feeling. The Connies have been with us for so long and a lot of people (including CR) love the ship. If only they would pay some attention to it and work it up to gold standard. I hope that CIG starts reworking older ships (one can dream) after mastermodes works properly, whenever that may be.
Hoping we can dock something other than the feminine toy that looks so out of place back there on that ship. Its a butt plu... Want my Razer there so bad. It would look way better. And the Razer is cooler anyway.
Constellations are a great ship. Im partial to the Msr. Suits how I play better. Also kinda got PTSD from how bad the constellations cargo bay was at keeping loose items in when your not in the pilot seat. Stuff falling through or sticking to the original location. Falling through the cargo bay and through the planet. Msr with its cargo ramp and not the lift style cargo bay ive never had those issues
I remember when I bought the Taurus (I think it was 150€/$ at the start) and damn, it was love, good look, excellent cargo space and pilot controlled weapons. A very understimated ship. Now it is a must have in my hangar
Taurus owner here. Gonna say that the Connie series (yes, entire line, including Phoenix) will more than likely end up on CIG's rework list. Reason being is that there are several usability issues that its gained due to the progression of the game. I mean, the strut madness for a forward view. Just that to start. Also an airlock in the ceiling of a habitation area. Deffo not OSHA safe or even usable in the first place (especially with an elevatorlock in the floor). Hate to know how much Connie owners will spend on atmosphere/air supply restocking every time they dock because of how much they must lose just opening the cargo bay. And the massive headache loading/unloading boxes in the rear "hideyhole" cargo bay, especially when they fully implement manual cargo transferring...
I remember upgrading my first pledge back in 2012 to the Constellation, before the variants came out... I can still remember my heart beating as I pledged over $200 US on a frikkin computer game... LOL Gotta say that $200 has been doing some heavy lifting considering how much I have enjoyed the entire process of SC development and evolution...
It's not a budget ship it's the cargo version of the constellation class. It forgoes the snub fighter for the shielded cargo space that can hide contraband from UAE scanners. The Taurus is all about cargo.
With those turrets, you can get usually get within 2k, or closer if you can stay behind a hill. Also, there are mounted guns that you can use to destroy the turrets, but the guns have limited ammo. The last two guys are in the lower elevator.
It would kind of defeat its purpose as a hidden compartment, don't you think? :) Not that a giant door does a better job at hiding whatever you stuff inside...
I enjoyed my pledged Taurus so much, that i also pledged for the Aquila in hopes exploration will be a thing one day. Can't wait until the Constellation series gets it's much needed rework/update. Conni 4 ever!
By far the best part about the connie Taurus is the placement of the tractor beam turret which has full visibility and range of the cargo ramp when its lowered which makes loading and unloading super easy especially since manual (un)loading is a thing in 3.23. It was my first big multi-crew ship but I melted it when it was MIA for years in its own development hell and I really should pick one up again. Afaik the connie series is supposed to get another pass with the cockpit in particular being reworked to massively increase visibility by getting rid of most struts and bringing it more in line with other similar cockpits like the carrack or the Polaris or Galaxy designs for example.
I love the connie this ship will be used alot for surveying planets for sure. You can fit multiple small vehicles and the upgraded variants have a snub fighter. I love that mostly. Staying in orbit of a planet and dispatching to the planet in a smaller craft just sounds cool. Very useful for quick runs to babbage
I've heard the Connie is a beast in MM, so it might actually be even more of a Hammerhead slayer, especially because it'll come with 4xS5s and those are dedicated big ship deleters in the new meta.
It is one of the most beautiful ships in the game on the outside IMO, but it is also very versatile, you can do a lot with it. It is a great all rounder ship. I especially love how his big engines are set up, it looks menacing when flying. I personally like Andromeda a bit more though as it is even more versatile than this one, but Taurus is for sure a great ship for anyone to own.
I always assumed the back cargo grid existed purely because CIG had no idea what to do with the space. Wish they'd put a second tractor turret there. Though with the removal of the local inventory setup, that might be the best place to store personal stuff.
originally the Connie Taurus had a shielded cargo space where the lower turret is located, but that got replaced with the tractor beam turret instead and they moved the shielded cargo to the back. Its basically an unscannable compartment to smuggle illegal goods but is near impossible to get anything in or out of there due to the door.
Part of the reason this thing is so popular is that it's just a Really Big Drake Cutlass Black. Seriously. It's a huge DCB. Everything the DCB can do, this can do better. And it spams missiles, so when the Server FPS is decent you can actually blap everything upto VHRTs without too much sweat. Put a better Quant on it and it'll do group bounties aww day erry day.
Really dig my Taurus. Just kind of works for everything. But I'm an oddball in the fact I love all the cockpit struts. Makes it feel more reinforced and utilitarian like they really just want to make sure the vacuum of space stays on the other side of the glass. If they ditch too much of the struts once it actually does get reworked I'll be bummed if it loses that feel. Does need a rework though. At least make things inside work and get rid of the gaps that let you see outside under the bunks.
I do like the Taurus but I had to upgrade it to the Corsair and I'm not regretting my decision. It's definitely a buy in game the only Connie I've got pledged is the Phoenix emerald and it's a permanent staple in my fleet along with Corsair and c2 reclaimer and 600i explorer and galaxy.
My daily driver, great for low risk bounties, hauling solo, easy to get in a out and tractor beam to boot. The rear shielded hold will be good for contraband items once implemented. Jack of all trades kind of ship. 😏
I melted my Andromeda for the Taurus when they released the Taurus as flyable. I have a Phoenix as well and didn't see the point of having the Andromeda as the same time. I used my Taurus for storing extra RMC in that I scraped with my Vulture.
Connie was really designed as gunship, so I wouldn't go for the Taurus unless you're into bounty hunting on a budget, but keep in mind this line of ships currently handles like bricks. For cargo hauling, Zeus mk II CL is a better option at a smaller price tag. If you have a little bit bigger budget, the Corsair is the way to go for BH with a fairly large cargo bay, better handling and more firepower.
I love my Andromeda, for me it is the ultimate multirole, save for luxury transport, but including racing with the snub (which i always change from a Merlin to an Archimedes), i just wish they'd update the interior and finally let me put size 5's in the bottom nacelles
Connie Andromeda is my go to "do everything" ship. What it lacks it cargo it makes up for in "fuck off and die". Multi crew makes it super mean and you can carry whatever vehicles you need.
The table is bugged. It does work and come up. A friend told me the option to make it come up only shows if you sit down on the seating area and look down. At least that's what he told me anyway. I don't have that ship yet so i can not confirm or deny what he told me.
I miss my MAX. Not the best ship by any means. Not the worst either. But the coni. The coni is a ship I wanted to hate. But after purchasing it in game and forcing myself to fly it. I have come to admire it. It is a really good ship
I'm holding onto my conny. It was 1 of the 1st bigger ships that was playable in game, so I think a lot of people have it or had it. I think they are waiting for people to trade them in for something else before they do a rework and put the price up. I'm gonna just wait. A rework has to be coming like they did to the Cutlass because its a legacy ship like the cutlass. It needs one.
They need to make the server change much further from the planet. And all the objects rotating in the server could be controlled by different servers. That os a quick fix for the targeting. So Lorville could be a server, outposts could be each a server and the. The rest of the planet, since they all rotate together. Setting the boundary somewhere in space would be much harder to find the boundary and affect gameplay
The Taurus used to be popular when PVE bounty hunting still dropped crazy loot, but that's no more. The snub room is supposed to be shielded cargo. And no the firepower isn't the best and ERTs are not the hardest PVE space combat missions.
I actually work on a boat out in the Gulf of Mexico. I just wish living quarters would've been laid out a bit more .... makes since.. but I guess living on the water compared to space is different 🤣
I got a Tarus in game as a laugh and I love it. Ugly as sin but very useful. Of course there has to be a problem with every ship and the problem with this one is the cockpit hud is so bright you need to wear sun glasses while you fly it.
I haven't used mine since they killed mining and I melted my Prospector. My SRV tow truck makes about one million aeuc in 30 minutes with hammerhead cleanup jobs now. It is a boring job, but I don't have to worry about losing money spent on cargo to pirates or crashes anymore.
That back cargo cubby is shielded from scanning. Contraband goes in there.

3:28 the weird flooring is the magnetic cargo grid, you see it on the floor of almost everywhere you would store boxes
Taurus is a very solid ship, but I love my C2 Hercules more (aesthetic wise)
Part of the reason this thing is so popular is that it's just a Really Big Drake Cutlass Black.
Seriously.
It's a huge DCB.
Everything the DCB can do, this can do better.
And it spams missiles, so when the Server FPS is decent you can actually blap everything upto VHRTs without too much sweat. Put a better Quant on it and it'll do group bounties aww day erry day.
The landing gear on the taurus moves so far because imagine how nose-heavy it would be compared to the other connies
If you ll put 4 AD4B on the ship, it will out DPS inferno on top of having gimbled guns.
The back room is an unfinished cannabis-growing greenhouse, CIG is finishing it in 1.23.
Also, a zero-to-hero type series would be awesome
ROC DS jousting anyone ?
I actually had the Taurus for the longest time... Way back even before it came out, then the Apollo came along 5 years ago and I had to upgrade 💯🍿
Is your Emerald LTI? If so, then nice job :)
Zero to hero is a lot of fun and good for teaching new people how to start out.
Connie was really designed as gunship, so I wouldn't go for the Taurus unless you're into bounty hunting on a budget, but keep in mind this line of ships currently handles like bricks. For cargo hauling, Zeus mk II CL is a better option at a smaller price tag. If you have a little bit bigger budget, the Corsair is the way to go for BH with a fairly large cargo bay, better handling and more firepower.
i have this master piece but didnt play for a long time now after seeing this im jumping again
I daily the Conni Taurus. The only issue that I have with it is the sometimes unstable landings due to terrain and atmospheric maneuvering.
i'm not sure which pricing you were looking at but those amounts were way higher than USD
I've been using my Taurus in combo with my Vulture to salvage some big ships. So many options with this beauty.
We did have a nice moment
"So I was looking on youtube for some content to make and I saw that everyone has made a video of the Taurus...so here is mine!" - Olli43 probably
The Taurus is the most versatile ship in the game. It can handle nearly every playloop without much difficulty.
The table is bugged. It does work and come up. A friend told me the option to make it come
up only shows if you sit down on the seating area and look down. At least that's what he told me
anyway. I don't have that ship yet so i can not confirm or deny what he told me.
The back compartment is an oversized pizza oven.
I miss my MAX. Not the best ship by any means. Not the worst either. But the coni. The coni is a ship I wanted to hate. But after purchasing it in game and forcing myself to fly it. I have come to admire it. It is a really good ship
Loved sharing our little moment with the connie on the Horizon.
Connie for the friends 😂. Love this ship all constellation series are icons for SC.
I rate that landing a 10 of course!
That rear section does in fact contain a cargo grid.
It needs one.
i used to watch you back in the gta v days and seeing you on star citizen is crazy, inspired me to buy the game cos the packs are on sale rn
I upgraded to one a couple of months ago, pretty happy with it overall.
The back room is where the backrooms are!
The Taurus used to be popular when PVE bounty hunting still dropped crazy loot, but that's no more.
The snub room is supposed to be shielded cargo.
And no the firepower isn't the best and ERTs are not the hardest PVE space combat missions.
Pretty sure the Taurus is a bit longer than the other constellations, and that's why the lower engine pods slides further
when shielded cargo gets added, you can hide drugs back there that wont show up on scans.
I'm all in for zero to hero, mate!
One of my first pledge ships love it!! ❤
I'm not sure if it is the most popular ship, at least what people use in game, but that is interesting that it is the most searched ship on You tube.
I actually work on a boat out in the Gulf of Mexico. I just wish living quarters would've been laid out a bit more .... makes since.. but I guess living on the water compared to space is different 🤣
it's probably the best Solo ship and does a lot of the game loops.
I always thought that the Taurus didn't have rockets, my first Constellation was the Andromeda.
It would be cool for Chris and his team to update the Connie line to gold standard, only then would I be okay seeing a Mark V version
The Taurus is longer then the other variants. So thats why the landing gear moves up further.
The snub in the back is missing, so the gear needs to move farther to maintain the center of balance while landed.
Put Ballistics on the Taurus and it is SUPER easy to take out a ERT.
