Just wanted to say thanks. Got to the campground and the motor wouldn't work. Pulled it apart based on your video, and one of the springs was gone. Fixed it with a BIC pin spring. You saved me $200 on a new one. Thanks!

Thank you so much for posting!!!! I can't believe I had this same exact problem. I've replaced a bunch of brushes on tools, but it is so weird they didn't make these easier to switch out. Thank you for such a detailed video, I followed every step, used some liquid gasket, used thread lock on the screws and bolts and was up and running better than before. I even cleaned out all the junk inside the motor housing and sanded and repainted the outside case to prevent rust (even though no one sees it under the rubber cover)! You definitely saved me some $$$.

Thank you! After 4 month Canada Alaska trip and lots of driving in rain, I came down to lower 48 and rear stabs quit working. Checked out your vid, sure it would help me get started but that I must have a different problem. No sir, exact same! Except one of my brush springs was completely gone, wet rust paste! Wife got me a pen and I took the spring and fixed it your way. Cut the white plastic holder with an exacto knife like you did, silicone sealed it up. It'll outlast my 2014 Rockwood I expect! So helpful in enabling me!

*this gave me ideas but mine is trying to turn it's just not dropping the legs at all, the motor actually turns some when i hit the switch so maybe mine just needs the screw lubricated. i have some white lithium grease i use on my tip outs and maybe that will work*
If you have a starter rebuild shop close to home, I would say that they could get any part needed for that motor. It's definitely better to do what you did and repair than to replace. I just wonder how many people have replaced the whole motor because of a spring? Thanks for sharing, I'll keep this in mind when I have trouble out of mine.
Great idea, I do have a local starter repair shop, didn’t think about that before. I’m sure lots of people just pay the price for a new motor but I can’t do that if repair is an option, my parents raised me to be too thrifty I guess. A couple hours and a couple dollars verses $300, well worth it to me
Nice video. It was nice to see how it comes apart before having at it. I opened the gear box then taped the motors drive gear with hammer and it popped the armature right out so I didn’t have to cut the circuit board. I found a spring in my local hardware store and I cut it to length.
Was this pretty easy to pull the 'Motor drive gear' without screwing it up? I would prefer not cutting stuff up if I can do it without, but I've never worked this deep on an electric motor... changed brushes before in tools, but they popped in and out easy. Can you provide more details on what it took and what to look out for?
@@gtyouwin I’m sorry I don’t remember that well now. It was a year ago when I did it. I do remember it was really easy and didn’t take long at all. If yours already isn’t working then there’s no harm on trying since it’s already broken. Mine is still working after fixing it.

Just bought a Rockwood Mini Lite. All PSX2 power stabs worked on the lot. Got home 7 hrs later and only 3 work. The rear driver's side doesn't move, not even when I manually crank from either side. Pulled power and shut off battery, no change. The 30 amp fuse below the fridge seems fine. Is there a switch reset somewhere near the battery?
I’m not sure about a reset, I haven’t seen one on ours. Doesn’t make sense that it wouldn’t operate manually though, wondering if that one stabilizer is in a bind keeping it from moving.
Exact same failure cause here. 2018 trailer (3 years old). I had 'rotating' spring rusted away. $800 system. Since if failed after only 3 years, I assume typial 'American made with pride".

Front stabilizer won't come down. I figured it was a faulty switch. Hopefully this is the fix.

@@TheFurrminator The roller pins fell out of the coupler so it wasn't turning the threaded rod! Solved
