having these for nearly 2 years now, for my kind of use they are just pure perfection.i had expensive boots before, but never with such a balance between comfort, weight, support, design and durability.there should be poems and love songs written about it! :)

The non GTX, I mean the Leather version, is one of the best, if not THE best pair of boots for rough terain. Top quality boot which needs a better insole (as all shoes and boots) With an insole that can more cushioning, this boots become a dream to walk in the outdoors! I didn't expect, that a boot can feel and perform, as a very expensive Mercedes car!!! It comes in any size, even half sizes and wide or bunion! Totally recomended (just add a good insole and enjoy!!!

Thanks for that video, just waiting for my pair to arrive - going to use for hill walking and light scrambling. Do you think this is a 4 season boot? (UK seasons)

Yeah I would say it's 4 season boot. But comfort is personal preference I wear a 4 season boot all year round.

LHASA II or Tatra II, which one is better please?? Is LHASA II an upgrade, or it's the same, with the only difference, the leather quality?

What is the hook on the tongue used for??

It keeps the laces where they should stay on. All the boot laces, drop as we walk, this keeps them where they should be. PS Hanwag Tatra II lacing system with those ballbearings etc, is by far the best system I have ever used. Not only it feels super high quality, like no other shoe or boot, but also work way better and perform way better than any other, I have ever used. They area also the most stable and non slip boots, I ever had. They only need a more cushioned pair of insoles, and you get "a way better than you thought", pair of boots. By far the best thing, my feet ever walked in. PS, I recommend, the non Go9re-Tex versions, of any boot or shoe, that is going to be used for hiking or trekking. Full leather, is the way to go.

Also used for hooking up the trousers to the boots. Some more expensive wildlife pants have loops at the end of the leg parts to hook up to boots.

I would not recommend Gore-Tex, expecially for this pair of boots. I haven't tested the Hanwag Gore-Tex but in any other boots I had it, it had 2 serious downsides. 1st, Leather has the advantage in comfort, foot shape and more. 2nd, Gore-Tex FAILS after some use. Those are enough reasons, to make me choose the full leather version of any boot out there. Now, since the Hanwag Tatra II, is by far the best thing my feet walk in, I can only say, that it's a shame, to get them in Gore-Tex and not Leather...

I have 25 year old Gore Tex anoraks that are still waterproof and comfortable to wear. What do you mean by "Goretex fails after some use"?

    • @Raatatosk
      @Raatatosk 2 роки тому +1

@@MMM18092 Gore-tex and similar membranes do wear of in time, actually constantly wear off. Try Gore-tex on textile versions of boots or shoes and you will notice the waterproofing dissapear quite fast, just in months. Since your boots are leather, and maybe you even take care of them waxing them, then it''s THAT part that keeps them waterproof.
Also, the more serious issue. Gore-tex is one of the most hazardous chemicals on the planet. It can't be broken down in any way at all, stays in nature forever, eternity. Nature can't break it down and it can't even be burnt to destruction. It also shows giving birth defects to human babies and more issues are being found out more and more. Gore-tex particles shed off of clothing/shoes all the time, it's the nature of it. These particles get into the systems of other animals who die or give birth do genetically defect offspring.

Well, I'm sure, Gore - TEx doesn't last not even half that long! In many cases, it doesn't even last for a couple of seasons! Raatastok, on the comment above, provides some of the information, on why we do not recommend getting the Gore Tex versions, (if that's an option ofcourse,) to any boot or shoe. 2 more important reasons, one is, that
Goretex, is no where near as comfortable, as leather lining and, if water gets in the boot/shoe, which eventually, at some point it does, no matter what's the shoe, then if it's Goretex, it will take the shoe forever to dry! Imagine it being a boot too.. There are many reasons, that put the leather option, as by far the best of the 2. Goretex, is justa marketing gimmick, that works for some time, but you lose way to much, for some waterproffing witch will neither last, nor will provide you anything more, than the leather can!! Happy Christmas Holidays people!! @@MMM18092

    Nice little review.
I too must say that I much rather have the non Gore-tex version. No need for the goretex as they are all leather and taking care of the leather keeps the boots waterproof and definitely more breathable than with goretex membrane.
This model is one of VERY few now a days that do not stick the hazardous to wildlife and nature goretex in them. This is my main reason for buying them, since my priority is respecting wildlife and nature when out in nature.

Many persons working with goretex production in that industry have gotten seriously ill and died.

This new version of Tatra II is really a downgrade from the older model of Tatra II. Wish they havent taken away the pair locking hooks in the middle. That samalla change just made extraordinary boots just plain ordinary. Good quality, bad design.

So I’m guessing these are a boot that will hold up against the harsh, cold, wet, boggy land of Dartmoor of which I live on the edge of and regularly walk there?
I’ve had Berghaus Hillmaster 2 that started leaking after just under 3 years of having. I need a string, waterproof boot to handle Dartmoor!
