    I'm Polish and I just watched 'easy polish' for fun and they were asking same question. It's funny to see that we are all alike. Everybody just wants to buy a house.

    I really like listening to the authentic Chinese conversations, they're very interesting and useful so thank you very much. Unfortunately I find that there is way WAY too much English used in the explanation. As an English teacher living in China I have learned that studying a language through translation is highly ineffective. It is better to use different stimuli in conjunction with the target language rather than mixing two languages together in teaching. A little English would be okay, but in this case there is more English spoken throughout the video than Chinese!

    I am currently halfway through your beginning conversation class. It is a great program. This intermediate lesson is one of many I look forward to as I finish beginning Chinese. This lesson reminds me of a lesson I used to have to teach to my advances Spanish grammar students and my advanced English grammar students. How is the differentiation between "If I have time, I will cook" and "If I had time, I would cook", and "If I had had time, I would have cooked." It is that condition 1, 2, and 3 situation. Is there something directly related to this in Chinese? Is this something for a much more advanced lesson? If so, I will patiently wait until I run into this. 謝謝

      Martin Hodge Thank you for the compliment. And good question! We start to address tenses on Lesson 83 of the Beginner Conversational Course. I think you'll find that the way to indicate past, present, and future is much more simple in Chinese than it is in Romantic languages. Have fun! :)

      A common myth is that you need a lot of time to study Mandarin. The truth is, there is only so much you can learn each day!
      But when you study every single day - even for just 15 minutes - that regular practice gradually trains your brain. It's just like learning an instrument: if you can spend just a few minutes a day practicing, you are guaranteed to improve. In 6 months you'll be amazed how far you can progress.
      Instead of waiting for a time in your life when somehow you have a lot of free time, make a small commitment to watching a lesson a day, or listening to an audio review, or just going through your "Up for Review" flashcards. It doesn't take long, and the ability to speak and understand Mandarin is priceless!

Myself, I'm European, but I'm fascinated with all things Chinese. I'd take us on the full tour. I might even try to settle in a nice area of Southern China.

  • @Motavi

    Hello Yangyang! I have a question:
    At 6:50 in the video, it is written "我就不去上班了”, but why did you say "去"(which means "to go") if "上班" already means "GO to work"? Thank you!

    • @aprenderchinesemmoz872
      @aprenderchinesemmoz872 7 років тому

      +Motavi 上班 doesn't mean exactly "go to work" but "to work" more precisely. It's like "上课" which means "to have class". So for stopping working and having class you have "下班" and "下课" respectively.

    I notice that one is yī (1st tone) and yet 1,000 is yì qiān (4th tone) and ten thousand is yí wàn (2nd tone).
    So the tone changes according to the tone following it, right?

      or buy their mother a new stove, or put a better well in their village, or get hepatitis vaccines for their extended family, or pay for pre-natal care for their pregnant sister, or put air conditioning in the village school, fuck, sometimes I am embarrassed of my relationship with China and marvel at their direction.

    i would invest it in making more money like my app ideas so i could have money always coming in and i would help people that want to help them selves and others and not want to keep getting hand outs like i would help my friends and family get out of debt and some time i would like to help people in other countries. I would like to help them by giving them the resources to make theyer own living. You may have herd the saying you can give a man a fish and feed him for a day or you can teach him to fish and feed him for life well what im getting at is close to the saying but the people for the most part already know what to do they just dont have the tools,seed or resources because they are to poor to get them and thats where i think my way of thinking will help more people dont get me wrong i think its great people donate millions of dollers to help feed starving people but i think we can do better and give them the stuff that thay need to do it them selves i mean if you just give them food its a never ending cycle you will have to just keep giving them food so why not give them the things thay need to do it them selves and then thay can go on to helping each other and others. Just simply giving food away dosnt exactly keep them from possible starvation it just keeps them from starving for just a little longer.
